Su Sheng seemed to have a knack for shattering the atmosphere. Hippolyta's rousing speech had stirred everyone's fighting spirit, but in just a few words, Su Sheng had managed to deflate it completely.
Hippolyta fell silent.
Diana shot Su Sheng a glare, about to speak when a few black tentacles suddenly lashed out at them. With a swift movement, the Sword of Vulcan slashed through the air.
Swish, swish! The tentacles fell, severed cleanly.
One had to admit that the Sword of Vulcan was indeed an artifact of great power. A sword named by Vulcan himself was bound to be extraordinary—it could cut at a subatomic level!
As the tentacles dropped, the First Born charged at Su Sheng.
Seven thousand years of hatred had festered within the First Born as he clawed his way up from the depths of the earth. At first, all he had wanted was to reclaim what was his—to ascend to the throne. But now, his mind had shifted; he wanted to destroy everything, gods and mortals alike.
No man or god had been able to stand against him—until Su Sheng appeared.
Despite not being a god, Su Sheng possessed the power of one, a power strong enough to defeat even the First Born.
The First Born had lost.
But then he had won again, brought back to Olympus by Apollo. However, when the foolish Apollo tried to subdue him through abuse, the First Born had killed him, along with the other gods of Olympus. He grew stronger, killing Poseidon, Hades, and even Kassandra, who had once helped him.
He believed he was now strong enough. And so, he came—filled with vengeful fury!
His power had multiplied countless times since their last encounter. Even if Su Sheng could match his power, it was only the power he had back then.
"Go to hell!"
The First Born roared, his fists hurtling toward Su Sheng like missiles capable of obliterating everything.
Boom!
The two fists collided, and the immense force sent Su Sheng skidding backward, carving two long marks into the hard ground as he slid over ten meters before coming to a stop.
Diana, Firestorm, Hera—everyone's eyes widened, especially Diana.
Was this the first time she had seen Su Sheng lose in a contest of strength?
How could that be?
Under everyone's astonished gaze, Su Sheng casually shook his broken arm, the injury healing completely within seconds.
"So... five times, huh?" Su Sheng mused aloud, seemingly unaffected. He looked at the First Born with great interest. "Your power has increased fivefold since last time. Is that because you gained strength by devouring the gods' flesh and blood, or by absorbing their essence? The latter seems unlikely. While a person can have multiple sources, the old gods are nearly extinct, so it must be your own ability."
"A special case like you among the old gods... I wonder if the Source Wall deliberately intends to use you to wipe out the old gods."
"No one can use me!" the First Born snarled, though he didn't fully grasp Su Sheng's meaning.
"You wouldn't even know if you were being used." Su Sheng smirked. "So... ready for round two?"
"Die!" the First Born screamed, charging once more.
Su Sheng remained still, not showing the slightest tension or seriousness. With a casual motion, as if stretching his arms, he slowly raised his hand to meet the First Born's fist.
"Infinite stacking, ten times!"
Boom!
The impact, more powerful than before, reverberated through the area like a hurricane, blowing everything around them away in an instant. In the gust of wind, the First Born's body was sent flying, smashing through distant mountains, which then collapsed, burying him beneath the rubble.
"You... you..." Diana stammered, driving the Sword of Vulcan into the ground to steady herself as she stared at Su Sheng in disbelief.
"You didn't really think I'd lose, did you? That's not a funny joke." Su Sheng chuckled. "If I wasn't trying to calculate how much stronger he's gotten, do you really think he could knock me back? I'm stronger than a tiger; why would I pretend to be a pig?"
Pretending to be weak to catch his opponent off guard? Su Sheng wasn't interested in that. And if he were to pretend, it would be in front of strangers. But looking around at this circle, who didn't know his strength? Pretending would just be boring.
Last time, Su Sheng had used twice the strength of the First Born to crush him. This time, the First Born had grown five times stronger, so Su Sheng had used ten times the strength to crush him again.
Any more, and the First Born might fall into despair.
A rumble echoed from the mountain as the rubble was violently cast aside. The First Born, disheveled but furious, emerged, baring his teeth at Su Sheng.
In a blink, he was upon Su Sheng again.
Boom!
Another punch.
The First Born was sent retreating.
Enraged, he charged again.
Boom!
And again, the First Born was sent flying.
Su Sheng stood there like a baseball batter, easily knocking the 'ball'—the First Born—back over and over again!
Boom!
As Su Sheng sent the First Born flying once more, he turned to the stunned Diana and said, "If I were you, I'd go deal with those monsters first."
"Right!" Diana snapped back to reality, realizing that the First Born wasn't the only threat on Paradise Island. She immediately turned and joined the fray.
The morale of the Amazons soared. If Hippolyta's words had given them the resolve to fight to the death, Su Sheng's effortless dominance over the First Born filled them with newfound confidence. They now held a psychological advantage over their enemy, each Amazon warrior fighting with renewed bravery and strength.
But as the First Born was beaten down again and again, his anger only grew.
His hatred and power surged with it.
In his rage, he seemed to forget to think, his body erupting with even greater strength. The tentacles behind him transformed into demonic wings, frantically absorbing the life force and energy around him. The world behind him began to darken, becoming void-like.
"Is this supposed to be impressive?"
"I find it annoying when people keep powering up during a fight."
Watching the First Born's transformation, Su Sheng commented dryly, "I bet you think you're pretty unstoppable now, don't you? Maybe you're even thinking about how you're going to destroy the world. But it's pointless—reality is cruel..."
As he spoke, Su Sheng raised his fist and charged at the First Born.
The First Born, his strength skyrocketing, swung his fist to meet the attack.
"Infinite stacking, fifty times."
"I... am your reality!"
Boom!
The fists collided, but Su Sheng's fist tore through the First Born's arm like a bulldozer, pulverizing it before delivering the final blow.
The First Born... exploded!
Author's Note: We're about to enter the Flash arc, with Caitlin making an appearance. Oh, and I just realized—when Su Sheng returns, he should definitely meet the Birds of Prey and the Huntress. That's going to be a real showdown!
