"I'll bring back the real Harley Quinn," Batman said in a deep, calm voice, casting a quick glance at Barbara Gordon before turning back to Su Sheng. Without wasting any time, he began typing swiftly on the Batcomputer, searching for Amanda Waller.
Amanda Waller's deception had left Batman displeased. He knew that Waller had hidden the real Harley Quinn somewhere, ensuring that the plan wouldn't be exposed once the truth about Clayface came to light. Tracking someone down would be no easy task, especially if that person was hidden by an organization like ARGUS. Their methods of evading network intrusion were sophisticated, making even the Batcomputer's advanced technology struggle.
But Batman wasn't searching for Harley Quinn. His target was Amanda Waller.
While Batman worked, Su Sheng, amused by the technology around him, casually wandered the Batcave, led by Barbara Gordon. Every hero had their base, but Batman's was legendary—full of black-market tech and state-of-the-art gadgets.
"What if you don't find Harley Quinn?" Barbara asked quietly.
Su Sheng chuckled softly. "I'll just take you back."
Barbara felt a rush of heat at the closeness, breathing slightly heavier. "Do you… really have a way?"
Su Sheng smiled mysteriously. "We'll see when the time comes."
Just then, Batman's voice cut through the room. "I've found her. She's in Midway City."
Batman stood, ready to leave and confront Amanda Waller. But before he could, Su Sheng smirked. "No need. I'll go myself."
Batman eyed Su Sheng, unsure. "Promise me, don't kill her," Batman said, his tone serious.
Without answering, Su Sheng opened a shockwave wormhole and stepped through it, disappearing instantly.
"Master?" Alfred called, looking at Batman.
Batman shook his head. "I'm going to see for myself."
As Batman was about to head for Midway City, a loud alarm blared from the Batcomputer. Glancing back at the screen, his expression hardened. He changed his plans.
The shockwave wormhole opened in a room that resembled an office. Immediately, the guards inside raised their weapons, training them on the portal with tense anticipation. Behind them, Amanda Waller herself stood, her face grim, pulling out her own gun.
Su Sheng emerged from the wormhole, his appearance causing immediate tension.
"It's him!" Amanda Waller recognized Su Sheng right away and shouted, "Don't shoot! Don't shoot!"
Ignoring the armed guards, Su Sheng calmly approached Amanda Waller. Sweat beaded on her forehead as he got closer. "I know why you're here, but things aren't what they seem," she said quickly, trying to maintain control of the situation.
Su Sheng didn't respond, his face unreadable as he closed the distance between them.
"It was Harley Quinn's idea!" Amanda blurted out, seeing he wasn't stopping.
"Her idea?" Su Sheng finally halted.
"Yes!" Amanda said, breathing a little easier. "When I found out Batman was planning to rescue her, I went to see Harley. She said you were back and figured you'd ask Batman to get her out. But she found the whole thing boring, so she asked me if I could give you a surprise. She wanted to play a trick on Batman."
Su Sheng chuckled at that. Harley had changed—once devoted and obedient, now playful and full of mischief.
"Where is she now?"
"She's on her way here... with the Suicide Squad," Amanda explained, pausing before adding, "Joan Leon betrayed me. The Enchantress turned against us and is planning to destroy the city. I've assembled a squad to stop her. Harley wanted to join after she heard about it. I swear, I didn't harm her. This was all her idea."
Su Sheng said nothing, narrowing his eyes as he activated his psychic abilities. After a few moments, he nodded slightly. "She's telling the truth," he muttered to himself.
Harley Quinn had indeed come up with the plan to impersonate herself with Clayface. Amanda Waller had arranged for Jon Leon and Rick Flag to take on a mission last night, but soon after, Leon betrayed her, stealing the artifact that could control the Enchantress. Now, the Enchantress had transformed many people in Midway City into monsters, obedient to her will.
The Suicide Squad had been assembled to eliminate the Enchantress, but now their mission had shifted. They were being sent to rescue someone important in the city. The squad members—aside from Rick Flag—were unaware of the true nature of their mission.
Su Sheng's eyes flicked back to Amanda Waller. "You're lucky you told the truth. Otherwise, you'd be dead by now."
Amanda let out a small sigh of relief, but it was short-lived.
"Still... I feel like hitting you."
Before Amanda could react, Su Sheng slapped her with a powerful swing, sending her crashing into the desk beside her. The guards, startled, immediately fired their weapons at Su Sheng, despite Amanda's earlier orders.
Time seemed to freeze as the bullets flew toward Su Sheng. He effortlessly caught one mid-air and, in the blink of an eye, appeared in front of the shooter. Grabbing the man by the chin, Su Sheng smirked as he forced the still-hot bullet into his mouth.
"Ughhh!" the guard's eyes widened in horror as Su Sheng clamped his hand over the man's mouth, preventing him from spitting out the bullet. The man struggled and writhed in pain, but Su Sheng's grip was unrelenting.
After a few agonizing moments, the man collapsed to the floor, unmoving.
Su Sheng glanced at Amanda Waller, who was being helped up by her remaining guards. "He was going to die anyway. I just made sure it hurt," he said coldly, before turning his back on the scene.
