Chapter 202: Blackening Strengthens, Whitening Weakens

Su Sheng watched with interest as the battle unfolded between Superman and Supergirl. He wasn't sure if the Superman in this world had access to the Codex, but one thing was clear: he was definitely stronger than Supergirl.

As the saying goes, "Whitening weakens by three points, and blackening strengthens by twice as much." Superman's combat experience far surpassed that of Supergirl, especially when one was trying to save and influence, while the other struck decisively. Under such circumstances, it would be surprising if Supergirl could even hold her ground against Superman.

While observing the fierce battle between Superman and Supergirl, Su Sheng also kept an eye on the other skirmishes.

The Martian Manhunter was locked in combat with Faora, but he was clearly outmatched. Meanwhile, Alex, wearing her battle suit, was initially holding her own against the other aliens, but the tide quickly turned as she found herself outnumbered. The other DEO agents were faring even worse; their conventional weapons were utterly ineffective against the alien invaders.

It wasn't long before the DEO was in shambles.

Boom!

A deafening crash echoed through the facility as the ground was blasted from below, and Supergirl's figure was hurled up, slamming into the floor. Simultaneously, a bright azure light and various screams erupted from below.

Superman was slaughtering the imprisoned alien criminals!

Among his followers, there must have been one with psychic abilities who controlled the DEO agents to open the cells. Although these alien criminals were freed, they faced Superman's relentless massacre.

"No!" Kara screamed, rushing down to stop him, but it was too late.

By the time she managed to push Superman out of the DEO, the last alien criminal had already perished under his heat vision.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

An enraged Kara pushed Superman out of the DEO and into the sky. Meanwhile, the remaining aliens had found the Kryptonite and were preparing to take it away. Interestingly, although they were merciless toward the DEO agents, none of them dared approach Su Sheng, who sat there calmly, untouched by the chaos around him.

Even when the battles raged, the combatants seemed to avoid disturbing Su Sheng.

So while the entire DEO was in ruins, the area around Su Sheng remained remarkably intact.

"No, we can't let them take the Kryptonite!" Lucy Lane ran to Su Sheng's side, shooting desperately at the aliens. "Quick, stop them!"

"Why?" Su Sheng asked with a chuckle, turning to Lucy. "Why should I intervene when they're so considerate not to bother me?"

"If they take the Kryptonite, there's no way we can stop Superman," Lucy Lane pleaded, her voice filled with urgency.

"Kryptonite works, but it's not a cure-all. They've already developed anti-Kryptonite technology, haven't they? If you ask me, you should stop resisting. Superman and Supergirl are locked in a fierce battle outside, and continuing to fight here will only lead to more pointless casualties." Su Sheng grabbed Lucy Lane's arm, pulling her back into his protected space. As soon as she was within his range, the aliens immediately ceased their aggression toward her.

Boom!

Alex was thrown across the room, her battle suit severely damaged. She struggled to get up as the aliens packed away the Kryptonite. Faora, arriving from who knows where, glanced at Su Sheng, hesitated slightly, then signaled her team to leave.

"What about the Martian Manhunter?" Lucy Lane asked worriedly, not seeing any sign of him. Had Faora...?

Superman had slaughtered the criminals and taken the Kryptonite. The DEO was powerless to stop it.

Alex removed her damaged battle suit, her expression grim as she began searching for the Martian Manhunter. Lucy Lane also started organizing the remaining agents to clean up the mess and sent a message to Supergirl, updating her on the situation and urging her to return.

It was over.

There was no point in continuing the fight against Superman, especially since Supergirl stood little chance of winning.

A few minutes later, Supergirl flew back.

"Is everyone okay?" she asked, her voice filled with concern despite her own disheveled appearance. After making sure the others were safe, she approached Su Sheng. "Are you okay?"

Su Sheng shook his head. "I'm fine."

"Supergirl, have you seen the Martian Manhunter?" Alex shouted in panic, rushing over.

Supergirl was taken aback, quickly scanning the area, but found no trace of him.

"I didn't see him," she admitted.

"He... he wouldn't..." Alex's voice trembled with fear. "I'm going out to search for him!"

Without hesitation, Supergirl took off again to search for the Martian Manhunter.

"How can you just sit there and watch all of this happen?" Alex stormed over to Su Sheng, her voice filled with anger.

Su Sheng glanced at her calmly. "Don't blame others for your own failures. Do I owe you anything?"

"Don't blame him!" Lucy Lane interjected, though she too had been angry at Su Sheng's indifference earlier. Now, she had calmed down and understood the situation. "Even if Su Sheng had fought alongside us this time, Superman would have returned eventually. And Su Sheng can't stay at the DEO forever. Besides, they've already developed anti-Kryptonite technology. Even if we had Kryptonite, it might not be enough to stop them!"

Alex took a deep breath, trying to regain her composure. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. It's just... I always thought you were on our side."

"The Martian Manhunter is smarter than you," Su Sheng replied coolly.

"Do you know where he is?" Alex asked urgently.

"He's infiltrated Superman's team. Once he gathers enough information, he'll find a way to contact you." Su Sheng stood up and smiled. "Actually, there's an advantage to letting Superman take the Kryptonite. Whatever Faora told Superman about me, they probably won't suspect that you still have some Kryptonite hidden away. If you play your cards right, you might have a chance."

"What do you mean? You... you still have Kryptonite?" Alex and Lucy Lane stared at him in shock.

"Yeah, and I've got people working on different types of Kryptonite. If it works out, it should be pretty interesting... you might get to see a good show!" Su Sheng smirked, but didn't elaborate further.

Not long after, Supergirl returned.

Though she hadn't found anything, she was relieved to hear that the Martian Manhunter might have infiltrated Superman's team.

"I need to head back to the company," Supergirl said, glancing at Su Sheng. "Do you want me to take you back?"

"Sure." Su Sheng smiled brightly, and Supergirl hugged him before flying away.

Back in National City, Supergirl dropped Su Sheng off near his apartment before heading to her company.

As soon as he got home, Indigo suddenly materialized from the bracelet.

"Gideon has received a message from Earth-1," Indigo said, her large eyes gleaming with curiosity.
