----------------------------------------------------------------
Lynn hadn't anticipated that this incident would conclude with driving.
Similarly, the White Queen hadn't expected that her first meal post-liberation would consist of just milk.
Despite this transaction's lack of connection, and her requirement to endure a prolonged hot bath prior to consuming the milk...
Ultimately, the experience brought her considerable happiness, alleviating the years of imprisonment-induced despondency.
Should the chance arise, she wouldn't mind indulging in the experience again.
Especially after witnessing Lynn conjuring flames in his hands, creating an limitless supply of hot water, and conjuring a portal. In that moment, she entertained the notion that the transaction could become reality.
This young man's strength was truly astounding. When compared to the Sebastian Shaw of yore, it paled in comparison. Certainly worthy of allegiance.
Unquestionably, the White Queen was never one to uphold promises. From the outset, she had been prepared to shift her stance and flee. Yet, as this inclination came to her, a sudden calm settled within her.
Then, she saw Magneto and Mystique, figures she hadn't encountered in years.
Moreover, she noticed that these two old friends, when gazing at Lynn, held a trace of awe in their eyes—subtle, yet undeniably real awe.
"Is this a dream? Magneto bowing before a young man?! What on earth has unfolded?!"
The White Queen couldn't escape the sense of being left behind by the times, a sentiment that magnified exponentially after learning of Lynn's exploits.
In this realization, she grasped a truth...
Times had changed!
The present was owned not by Magneto or Professor X, but rather by this young man before her.
…
As if in a daze, Magneto's voice resonated.
"You're unconcerned about the developments there?"
For Magneto, the pleasantries after reuniting with old friends after a long absence are obviously not as important as the next conversation with Lynn.
This is a hillside near Alkali Lake, condescending, just enough to take in all the dam.
Military vehicles thundered along a distant mountain road. Helicopters rapidly approached from the sky. Each target was the base.
"People from the White House and the military..."
Lynn stretched nonchalantly, his face unflinching. "Given the current state of affairs, there's no need for us to intervene. We can leave it to them."
"Leave it to them?"
Magneto's sneered. "Politics is the filthiest thing in the wirld. Even if the military plots to assassinate the president, believe it or not... under the right circumstances, the two sides could shake hands and make peace?"
"And your point?"
Lynn's smile remained unwavering. "William Stryker is done for. Over a hundred mutants have been rescued from the base. The X-Men's reputation has been solidified, and public sentiment against mutants is shifting again... a few steps at least."
"We've achieved a lot, haven't we?"
He continued, his tone unyielding. "Moreover..."
Turning toward Magneto, he met his gaze head-on. "You don't genuinely believe that the rift that has emerged can be bridged, do you?"
Magneto's eyes flickered, understanding Lynn's implication.
Indeed, the White House and military could strike a handshake of peace. However, the latter's credibility would be compromised, at least in the eyes of the current president and vice president. The seeds of military and political discord had already been sown and may grow into towering trees at any time.
And during this time, neither the White House nor the military dared to take any unfavorable actions against the mutants, unless they wanted to be drowned by the people's saliva.
Thus, mutants entered a period ripe for development.
"Which is why you kept William Stryker alive..."
Magneto sighed softly.
Lynn's voice grew icier. "He's already a human, but before he meets his end, he has a role to play."
Killing is never the only way to solve a problem.
Killing one William Stryker would only lead to another, then another.
This approach held no merit for mutants.
Keeping him alive allowed him to be judged and condemned. Throughout this process, how many would pay attention? How many would empathize with mutants as a result?
Magneto understood this, too. During their time at the base earlier, he hadn't caused a fuss...
He regarded Lynn, hesitated briefly, and spoke. "It appears the next step involves seizing the present momentum to launch enrollment at X Academy?".
Yet, upon hearing the words, Mystique's complexion shifted dramatically, her gaze locking onto Magneto with disbelief.
Just as Magneto understood her intimately, she understood this old man equally well.
To proactively broach this topic... It means accepting Lynn's invitation in disguise To assume the role of Academy X's vice principal.
Undoubtedly, in this entire affair, Lynn's demonstrated strength and tactics had awed the leader of the brotherhood mutants, a man profoundly proud in his heart. He couldn't help but submit.
Perhaps he hadn't relinquished his ideals, still harboring the belief that only by eradicating humanity could mutants truly flourish... But, for now at least! He was willing to explore Lynn's path.
"Eric..."
Mystique's eyes flickered. Everything that happened during this period was not as good as the scene in front of her, which made her even more excited.
Though this old man was ruthless and unscrupulous... He wholeheartedly sacrificed everything for the mutants.
For this reason, he was even willing to bow his head before a young man. Though there was no alternative?
"Raven, are you alright?"
The White Queen was stupefied, completely unable to understand why Mystique was so excited.
Lynn had expected this, and there was no surprise on his face. It seemed that in his eyes, Magneto accepted the invitation... There was no suspense at all.
"Indeed, it's time for X Academy to be known to the world."
He addressed Magneto in a manner of natural authority. "Once matters conclude, I'll escort you to X Academy to meet Professor Charles."
Magneto didn't feel angry, so he nodded.
But then he was stunned: "The matter is over? The matter...isn't over yet?"
"Absolutely."
Lynn glanced at him enigmatically. "Matters... have only just begun."
Magneto and Mystique exchanged glances. They were dumbfounded.
