Next In Line
Damien looked straight into her eyes and nodded.
"Yes, Diana. And I want you to be the next Alpha."
"What?" She gasped in shock, "Is… is this a joke?"
Damien reassured her that it was all true. But still, the she-wolf refused to believe any of it.
"There's no reason for you to step down. Alpha Markus played foul. The traditions and rules should not apply!" She protested.
"Diana…"
Damien wanted to speak, but Diana didn't give him a chance to defend his decision.
"So what if you're injured? You will heal with time. There's no reason for you to step down!"
"Diana!" Damien's voice rang throughout the hall.
Diana was about to continue stating her point but she held her tongue when she heard her brother's call. She looked straight into his eyes, searching for the true reason she assumed he was hiding.
She knew her brother well enough to know that this decision was a difficult one for him to make.
