As Harold leaned against the backrest of his chair with composure, he looked at the fearless girl in front of him with sparkling eyes. He then patiently asked her,
"I believe you understand that you have trespassed into my territory. And do you know what sort of punishment you get for doing that?"
"Punishment?" Mila uttered as she shook her head in response.
She did not expect the handsome dude would be so cruel and that he would decide to hand her over to the police when it was no mistake of hers. Yes, she does know that trespassing is illegal but she was on the public road and not on his property until his dogs decided to attack her.
'So how is that my fault? It was his mistake for forcing her to enter his property using his dogs,' She grumbled in her mind but did not say those words out loud.
Just when she lifted her head to argue, she noticed his flaming eyes and suddenly fear engulfed her mind. The fire she saw in his eyes made her shiver all over her body as she wondered,
'Please don't tell me, I did really enter the wolf's domain who is the arch enemy of our witch family. Is this how I die? Is this going to be my fate when I have just escaped from one hell of a life and now I have to face this?'
Her thoughts almost made her shudder in fright as she held her head as low as possible. She instantly avoided meeting his dreadful eyes which made her self-esteem grow lower. She felt helpless and speechless at the same time.
Still, she somehow managed to take control of her fears sooner and worked on hiding her angst very deep inside her heart. After a while, when she lifted her head with confidence, her eyes landed right on a photo frame that hung just behind the chair Harold was sitting.
The minute she saw the man in that photo, her eyes shone as bright as it could as she immediately recognized that handsome person. Harold became very confused after seeing all sorts of different emotions and expressions on Mila's face.
'Isn't he the one who got the front page on that famous magazine? I even stuck his picture on my bedroom wall along with all my other prince charming's. How lucky am I to see his personalized photo!' Her face brightened and a cunning plan started to hatch in her brain.
But her happiness only lasted for a second as Harold's voice echoed in the living room which brought her back to reality from her day dreaming.
"I can't believe you are smiling right now after hearing what I said. As I thought, you must be a fearless one! Even after experiencing the canid's attack, here you are standing in front of me with confidence on your face. Also, I see that you took my words very lightly in your heart, Miss," Harold said with a scorn.
Mila's smile disappeared at once when she listened to Harold's words. She lowered her eyes from the photo frame unwillingly and finally noticed the man sitting in front of her who by then had a smirk on his face.
'Is he now admitting that he was the one who made those dogs attack me? How cruel of him! How can he do that to an innocent person? Thankfully, my skull was strong, so I did not break it. What if it was someone else? They would have died of fear by now,' Mila's anger grew as she continued to glared at Harold with red eyes.
"Girl, lower your eyes right now. How dare you glare at me after entering my domain?" Harold hissed which confused Butler Max even more.
Until now, he had never seen his master get angry at anyone. Even when his wife was sent away by the old man, he only had an emotionless face but never lashed out. He let his father take control of his life but made sure the young master would stay out of his grandfather's grasp.
"Master, actually I think she did not mean to…" Butler Max tried to smooth things out but Harold's one look made him go speechless.
In no time, the wolves that attacked her last night rushed in and surrounded her with a blink of an eye. They bared their teeth at her and her legs instantly went weak in fear. She squatted on the floor as she held her head with both her hands.
"Now, it's better. Don't you think so?" Harold mocked her as he felt a slight satisfaction at her obedience.
"Tell me, why did you come here? Don't even think about lying to me! You can really trust my ways on finding out the truth. The minute lies come out of your mouth, I will know and you too will know what will happen next," He said in a sarcastic tone.
The wolves around her howled and made her shiver for the nth time that day. She closed her eyes first and then she covered her ears with both her hands. She hoped that it was all a bad dream and once she opened her eyes everyone would disappear.
But nothing she expected happened and the wolves growling only grew louder. She has to think of a solution fast, if she does not want to become the next meal to these hungry wolves. As the situation became unbearable, her survival instinct kicked in immediately as her brain power increased a hundred times.
'Think, Mila, think! What could save you from becoming the meal to these dogs? Think carefully,' She wondered and raked her brain as much as she could.
Suddenly, the photo she saw before she got surrounded by the wolves flashed in front of her eyes. She had heard rumors that the person on the photo was gay and that his father desperately wants someone to give him a grandchild soon.
She even heard that he was trying to arrange every girl possible to bed his son, so he could hold his grandchild in his arms. But no one succeeded and his desperation became heartache sooner.
'If that person's photo is hanging on this wall then the old man in front of me must be his father. Anyway, they do resemble each other a lot and they both are very handsome. If they stand next to each other, we can even say that they look more like brothers rather than father and son. If only I did not know that he was the only son, I would have definitely thought the old man in front of me might be that person's older brother,' Her eyes flickered once again after realizing that.
'Finally, I understand why I got mesmerized when I first noticed this old man. Hmm... I must use the card in my hands and play correctly. First, I have to save myself from these dogs and then from the old man in front of me,' Mila thought and lifted her head once to see the photo behind Harold.
She compared the man in the photo with Harold's face. She was right. They both look very similar. She kept on looking at the photo and then at Harold's face.
