Chapter 27: could i get your name again?
The first quarter moon arrives on the first night since the butcher shop that Austin drinks from Kai. It’s a momentous occasion, cementing new territory for their friendship for reasons that Kai doesn’t quite understand. As he pours through his grimoire, he can’t help but notice how much calmer, how much more content Austin seems. It’s not bad, per se, but it is interesting.
“Are you sure you still want this?” Kai asks, gray brows drawn together with worry as he swishes his potion between two elixir bottles. “This didn’t exactly go well last time.”
Shoulders lax, Austin gently takes the resulting elixir from his friend before he gives a firm nod. “I think the Blood Moon was just too strong. It’s only a half moon tonight. It should work fine.”
