chapter 34.

01.Reskeme was not in a good mood, He undressed from his uniform and changed into his cotton clothes, Reskeme felt his spell fade and was glad he had been in the change room. Reskeme Channeled his mana and walked from the messengers' guildhall he kicked a rock that was on the cobblestones only to nearly hit a passer-by, He grumbled to himself about his damned boss always giving him dangerous jobs. Reskeme walked down the noisy street while enjoying the late afternoon sunshine. He walked back to his house he was staying in and realized he had a dilemma, Reskeme only had two hands and realized he would half to climb the gutter with his spear. Reskeme shook his head and threw his weapon onto the high roof with a clank of wood on the roof.

02. He then climbed up the gutter as quickly as he could to check on his spear. He stumbled over the edge and scrambled over to grab his spear, Reskeme checked the weapon over and of course, it's okay he thought, it's a damned throwing spear. Reskeme walked across the roof and climbed in the window of the building. He awkwardly handled his spear maneuvering it through the window after him. Reskeme realized this was why he needs Throwing knives, This weapon wasn't very easy to hide or drag with him when he was being sneaky or entering small places.

03. Reskeme walked past his sleeping familiar who eyed the weapon appreciatively, Reskeme wondered for a moment how he knew that when he Remembered he could feel His familiars emotion. Reskeme said, "do you like my new weapon.?" The demon sent him emotions of approval and excitement. Reskeme Sent multiple images of him learning to throw and his excitement at the training. The demon seemed impressed, Reskeme had only shown it the times he had hit of course. The demons shape blurred unfocusing in the shadowy room and looking almost completely like a shadow, The demon leapt forward with blinding speed and stopped a foot away from Reskeme with a smile on its face.

04. Reskeme was completely caught off guard and was terrified, He knew that the demon would have gotten past his weapon with that move and if The familiar wanted to could have torn him open. The demon sensed his fear and retreated back to the corner after it had established it was still the strongest and therefore was in charge. Reskeme shrugged his shoulders at this, The demon had been in charge before and it establishing its strength didn't change anything. In Reskemes mind he knew the only reason the demon had done that was because it could sense he was getting stronger.

05. Reskeme leaned his spear against a wall and shook off his blanket, The dust had settled and he didn't like that. Reskeme sighed deeply stretched and crawled into bed with excitement and dread for the morning. The last thing he noticed was his Familiar going about its usual mischief and leaving out the window. Reskeme awoke opened his eyes and of course the familiar was back in its usual spot, Only this time it seemed to be sleeping with a wide smile on its face. Reskeme didn't know how he could tell but assumed it was just a feeling.

06. Reskeme quickly picked up his spear after standing to his feet and stretching trying to relieve his sore muscles. Reskeme channelled his mana for as long as he could before wrapping his first thick layer of mana around him followed by a second to change the colour of his hair. Reskeme was pleased that he was able to create his spell so thick this time. After he was done he popped His back and his shoulders cracked when he stretched each one to the side. Reskeme hoped that was normal after a tough work out. He crawled over to the edge of the roof and realized he had a problem the two-story drop wouldn't be good for his spear especially onto cobblestones. He eyed a wooden beam on the house opposite him that went all the way down to the ground. Reskeme smiled and thought that couldn't be too hard. The throw was only a little closer than the practice dummy had been.

07. Reskeme pulled off the cover and was once again astonished at the well-crafted weapon. He held the center of the weapon and balanced it in his hands feeling for the perfect spot. Reskeme aimed 5 steps above the target and stepped forward on the roof before throwing the spear hard. The spear lodged itself in the wooden log with a thunk and swayed back and forth for a couple of seconds. Reskeme was relieved and climbed down the gutter with the cover tucked in his pants. He walked down the alley and was starting to rock his spear back and forth when an Older Woman walked out of the building dressed in her bedclothes, She didn't appear to be happy as it was her house he had just stuck with his spear.

08. Reskeme had trouble removing the spear but with some difficulty, he managed to pry it free, the woman was in the door and in an angry voice said, "what are you doing making such a racket this early in the morning." She looked at the deep cut in the log supporting Her house and said," why on earth would you throw at my house, you do realize that could cause the house to get drafty." Reskeme said, "I'm sorry for the damage." while backing away and quickly turned before running away from the house, Luckily for him, she had no desire to chase him in her bedclothes. The Woman yelled," that's right you little shit you better stay away from my house, if I catch you doing it again ill make you patch all the leaks in my roof."

09. Reskeme smiled to himself what was so scary about patching holes in a roof, He was sure he would get into trouble with her next time he had to get down and decided that wouldn't be soo bad. Reskeme Ran through the alley and took a little break before running down the street towards the garrison. Reskeme was watching with dread as the sun slowly began to peek over the buildings, people jumped out of his way as if he were a maniac, His spear swayed side to side and almost hit a few people but he didn't care. Only when he arrived near the barracks did he realize his weapon didn't have its leather cover. Private Richard was waiting for him this time and said, "Hurry up your almost late" Resume ran past the guard and entered the quart yard. Reskeme slid to a stop and gasped for breath as he looked around the training yard.

10. Weapons master Katherine had her arms folded in disappointment and tossed a silver coin to a man who was standing next to her dressed in Colourful robes. The man standing next to Her was of average height but seemed short next to the giant woman that was Katherine. In a grumpy tone, Katherine pointed at the man next to her and said, "This is master mage Kellar Flamecaller." Reskeme looked at Kellar, The man had dark black hair, Brown eyes and dark brown skin, the man's face was clean of any hair making him look like a man in his 40s.

11. Reskeme smiled an innocent smile and said, "A master mage that is cool I assume you are a fire mage based on your name." The mage gave him an odd look before smiling at Katherine and tossing a coin back to her. Reskeme wondered why these two kept tossing each other coins but decided to ask at a later time. Katherine pointed to a door that Reskeme had never been behind, The mage said, "We need to go into the other training room for more privacy."

12. Reskeme followed the weapons master into the backroom discovering another training yard with only one entrance. Katherine pointed into the room gesturing Reskeme to enter ahead of her. Reskeme anxiously passed the Mage and weapons master who was now blocking the door. Reskeme felt chills go down his spine when the mage began channelling his mana, Reskeme thought he was going to be sick, He felt mana flowing towards the mage in a wave.

13. Kellar smiled at him and said," I can see that you already have two layers of illusions around yourself." Katherine said," two? what is he hiding." The master mage said," I'm sure I could break them but the amount of mana that is surrounding him could make that a little dangerous for the boy." Reskeme was now nervously looking for a way to escape, He really didn't want the man to take apart his illusions. Kellar said," Oh stop it Katherine what could this young man be hiding.?" Katherine Grumbled "well we can never tell with damned illusionists, I just wanted to make sure he was the real Reskeme."

14. Kellar said," Boy, Can you cast a third layer?." Reskeme only noticed the mages' question because the mage had just cast a spell behind him covering the entire door before he finally stopped challenging mana. Reskeme said, "I think soo, I finally am feeling confident in channelling two layers, He continued "I probably have enough to channel a third layer." Kellar was opening his mouth to talk when an embarrassed Reskeme said," I have no idea how to add a third layer." Kellar rubbed his clean-shaven face and tilted his head to the side with contemplation.

15. Kellar pulled an amulet from his robe and walked forward, Reskeme took a step back, He did not know what the mage was doing. Kellar said," It's ok Reskeme, I won't hurt you," Katherine said, "He just wants to test your affinities." Kellar smiled while holding out his hand, He said," Don't worry if you agree I will give you a mana gauging amulet." Reskeme said, "What in the hell is a mana gauging amulet? Kellar looked at him oddly before pulling out an amulet around his neck. The amulet was gold, silver And shown in the light, The amulet had a circle in the middle that was blue with a small portion at the top looking clear instead of blue.

16. Kellar said, The amulet gauges how much mana you can cast each day and keeps track of how much mana the caster has. Reskeme was speechless, He had been doing things the hard way the entire time and hadn't known it. Reskeme said with clear desire in his voice," Of course I will do it pass me the amulet, as long as you promise to give me the mana gauge." Reskeme kept nervously eyeing the door that was faintly glowing red. He wanted this mana gauge and also really wanted to leave the room alive. Reskeme remembered the ritual of Rufus and really wasn't looking forward to his affinity testing again. Kellar placed a different amulet that he had taken from his bright coat in the boys' hands. Reskeme recognized the 9 different marks of affinity on the amulet and wondered if this way of testing was safe. When Kellar placed the amulet in Reskemes hands, Reskeme felt a massive amount of mana channel through him from Kellar. The charge of mana was followed by three glowing symbols on the amulet, one was dark green, one was white and one was purple.

17. Reskeme was surprised that all he had felt was the rush from the channeled mana. Other then that he hadn't felt any discomfort, He raised his head to The master mage. Kellar was smiling ear to ear and looked like he had just found a chest of gold, Katherine looked excited as well. Kellar excitedly said," Two soul magics and one of the five elements, that an interesting find you have made Katherine. Kellar said," The pendant is being odd however it shows a dark green symbol, It's not light green like normal." Kellar asked," Well boy? what does your green magic do? Based on its colour I can tell the magic isn't regular healing magic.

Enjoy. :)
