Institute's Request

Dragons had lived in the same world as humans for hundreds of millennials but rarely if ever interacted with humans. Contact between a human and a dragon was considered a myth during these times.

They built their cities high above the clouds in extremely hidden places that humans would never dream to reach. They weren't afraid of humans. No, if anything, humans were afraid of them.

They simply wanted a life where the dragon races simply lived with each other free from the other weaker race.

Even the most adventurous dragons rarely came in contact with humans so Draneil who spent most of his life in libraries had no way of meeting one. He didn't even know what their abode resembled since the only time he left the city was during the war.

Humans were considered very weak so the dragons acted as their protectors behind the shadows.

But now, Draneil was thinking. Maybe these humans weren't so weak either. After Draneil's return, he never really thought about what had happened to the dragons because he was certain that they had all died and the ones alive were now underlings to Tazoth. Even he, the last line of defense, had died so miserably in the end.

Since they could live extremely long lives, dragons never had materials to measure time. There existed a flower that would bloom once a year and die the next day. So the only unit of measurement was the flower that bloomed, marking the beginning of a new year.

Coming back as a human though, Draneil had seen different time measurements ranging from seconds to hours, to days, weeks, and even months. Now, there was no certain way for Draneil to know how long had passed since his death and revival except he came in contact with those that were involved.

He had to either meet with the betrayers or with a high-ranking demon or Taz… No Tazoth was not an option to be considered any moment soon and even in the future to come.

In fact, coming into contact with any of them shouldn't happen yet.

Four years had passed since the birthday of Nuhel, Seth's younger brother who was starting to look too much like Seth.

Raela's talent had attracted the institute of magic at the imperial capital and they had her begin a few months after she clocked fourteen years because she refused to leave until after Seth's eleventh birthday and she was allowed, something that had never happened before.

Seth wanted to be more low-key so he showed slower progress than his sister so he could stay home until he was fifteen, the acceptable age to be registered at the institute.

Rachel was now in a small group of elites in the imperial capital while Reina had just graduated.

Rachel was old enough to get married and when she was asked if she was ready, she said she found a man and they would get married when they were ready. For now, though, they chased after traces of a certain item.

Another notable thing that happened around these four years was that Rachel surpassed her father who was a Class Five magic swordsman to become a Class Six Mage. Although she preferred to be called a mage, she was well-versed with weapons, especially with the shortsword.

Seth couldn't be more proud of her current growth. At the moment, Rachel was among the top five powerhouses of the city of Zhod.

Seth was sitting in front of an office table. The person on the other side being his father, Davyon.

Davyon looked tired but had a proud smile on his face, showing his teeth.

"It seems like our family is in a golden era. We've managed to produce three geniuses and I'm sure there'll be a fourth soon…"

He wanted to continue but Seth cut him off. "So, why was I called upon, Father?"

"Ahem… Here, take this." Davyon extended his hand on the table, providing Seth with a light blue envelope that had an insignia on it.

"Don't tell me…"

"Indeed. The institute has requested that you resume soon. They'll be here to pick you up in two weeks." Davyon nodded his head before Seth even finished speaking.

'F**k! Even though I had done nothing to draw their attention. Or was I too forward when I made my core known? This is the f**king worst!' Seth's mind was in turmoil. Words that would have him scolded if he said them out loud were being spewed in his head.

"B… but I haven't even…" He tried to persuade his father using his age.

"Well, they must have a reason for requesting you. Besides, your fifteenth birthday is just four months away." Davyon would let Seth have his way.

These past four years, their calm, sweet, and lovely Seth had transformed. During training duels, he would beat his opponents while cursing at them. He would cause trouble in the estate and vanish for a day.

Davyon was having a headache just staring at Seth. Half of Davyon's tiredness originated from having cleaned up Seth's messes while the other half had to do with the estate as a whole.

"I understand Father. I'll prepare to leave soon. But first, I'll be leaving the estate for a week or more. There's something I have to do before I leave here." Seth didn't buy their arguing. His father wouldn't be able to do anything about the Institute's Request either way.

He stood up and bowed to his father before leaving.

"Sigh… he's not going to run away right?" Davyon looked at the figure of his son who was walking out of the room.

He stood up from his chair and walked out of the room, using a different door.

Inside this room, there was a bed, and on it was a beautiful woman smiling at Davyon. She was Leah, his only wife.

Even though he was worn out, this was something he had to do. He took off his shirt and unbuckled his belt, his trouser sliding down his waist. His tiredness seemed to vanish, replaced with a vigor that stemmed out of nowhere.

"It's going to be a long day." He smiled as he climbed the bed, approaching his wife.

Seth took some clothes in his bag, and a few gold coins and vanished from the estate.

Before the institute would come to pick him up, Seth had to look for a certain material that would be used to seal most of his absurd mana pool. Few people in this academy would probably see through the veil on his mana core so he wanted to thoroughly hide it by sealing it.

He had been making preparations about this item that would seal his mana but now, the deadline had gone up by months and he now had only a week to complete it.

He headed towards a certain dungeon not too far away from the outskirts of the city. The last material for his item was without a doubt in that city.
