As soon as Ramier left the room. He immediately let out a small laugh. Things that happened this afternoon were really out of the ordinary. Especially with the legacy. He didn't expect her to be so.. so strange. He was surprised by how she changed her mood easily.
As he walked down the hallway to his office, he was wearing a small smile. He recalled what happened when he was approaching her room earlier.
When he entered her room, he already sensed that she was awake. He found her hiding under the curtains. It was so obvious. He just couldn't understand why she was trying so hard to hide herself. He could see her form in the curtain. How she was slightly shaking and stood there stiffly. It was ridiculous. If he didn't see the legacy firsthand, he would assume that she was just a child.
He also remembered how she shouted the words 'Die!' and opened the curtains. Later on, she opened the windows. At first, he was quite alarmed. He could feel her hostility. He didn't really understand why she did that and why her face looked grim after she did all of that. He found her behaviour very strange. He didn't expect her to be wild, wanting to kill him in their first meeting.
But...
She also bowed before him and begged him over over and over again for her life. He wasn't even doing anything to her. What she did confused him to a high degree. However, she was really amusing. He didn't know why but seeing her behave like that made him quite interested. It's been years since he saw something this interesting.
'She's really crazy. ' he bit his lips in amusement.
And for her to think that he would suck her blood and kill her? Nope. That's impossible. How can I treat her like food? Was that even possible? Nobody even does that.
Weird.
He stopped before his office and opened the knob with a mischievous smile.
'Human?'
What was that? A human ,huh? He has never heard of that. A feeling bloomed inside his chest. It looks like he would be having fun.
He wanted to learn everything about her since she aroused his curiosity. She definitely looked like she wasn't from the continent.
It seems that something interesting would happen in the palace one of these days. He was already anticipating it.
He entered his office and busied himself with Kingdom matters.
**********
Meanwhile, Ashley was busy stuffing her face with food. She was so hungry. She busied herself by eating and thinking at the same time.
"Ackk!" she choked on her food. She immediately drank a glass of juice and patted her chest.
'What am I doing?' she asked herself. She sighed and placed the bread in her hand back to the plate.
Her vampire paranoia started kicking in. Ever since she realized her predicament, it was the only thing in her mind.
To be honest, she wasn't convinced that nothing bad will happen to her. Even though that man—vampire said he won't kill her. She was still suspicious of his intentions. How would she know he wouldn't do that eventually?
What if he offered her food so that he could fatten her up and eat her later. She remembered she said something about being unhealthy. Maybe, he considered nurturing her back to health then eventually putting her in his menu.
And he didn't seem to have human servants. Perhaps, he already ate all of them. And what if his servants attempt to eat her? What does she do? She'll die here like a pig being raised to be butchered later.
And she didn't want to believe the man. He looked crafty. Even though he gave a polite smile, she thinks that he was faking it. She can predict that there was a wolf under that pretty face of his. And the way he laughed at her, it was like he was watching a comedy show or something. She was offended.
'I have to find a way to escape this place.'
She would not give up the idea of escaping. Of course, she didn't know where she was. She also wanted to go home. But before that, she's gonna eat a lot, for energy.
She stuffed herself full. It was like she hadn't eaten for years. Nobody could blame her. The food here was really exquisite and it looked like the food served in expensive restaurants. It's been a while since she ate food like this.
When she was in a vegetative state, she was only fed with soft food that would immediately go down her throat. It was quite bland and she continued to eat that for three years. Three years... She can consider this as the first decent meal she had since then.
After eating, she took a sniff at herself because she felt dirty. She caught a smell of something foul. Her nose immediately wrinkled.
'I stink.'
She realized that she didn't take a bath for days. She smelled like a dog. She wondered how the servants, who tended to her while she was unconscious, endured. If it was her, she would puke. It wasn't an exaggeration. She really stank. Bad.
The reason for this was because doctors were afraid to hurt and touch Ashley. She was considered as the precious legacy so they took extra care and treated her like fragile glass. They didn't know who she was or where she came from. They were afraid of hurting her. They didn't remove her clothes and only treated the bruises and cuts she had in her arms and face.
She wanted to take a bath and change her clothes. However she didn't know what to do. Where was the bathroom? What about her clothes? Does she call the servants or not?
What if they attack her and suck the life out of her? She was beginning to become extremely paranoid. She pondered for minutes and realized that she couldn't bear the icky and sticky feeling anymore.
She rang the bell near her bed. A minute later, the head Court lady along with four maids entered the room.
They bowed before her.
"What can we help you with, Milady." the head court lady nonchalantly said to her.
"Uhm. You don't have to bow. Please raise your head." she politely said. She suddenly felt shy. Were they supposed to treat her this nicely? They didn't reply to her and just looked at her, waiting for her command.
"I'd like to take a bath please. I just wanted to ask for some spare clothes and directions to where the bathroom is. "she said shyly.
The maids glanced at one another because of her odd behaviour. The head court lady frowned.
'Did she say something wrong? ' she doubted.
" I'm afraid we cannot do that my lady. We must accompany and attend to her lady in her bath." she said.
Ashley sighed. "But I can do it by myself. It would be a bother to you guys. I—"
The head court lady cut her off. "This is our job my lady. We were tasked to attend to the lady's needs, a command from his Highness, the Emperor."
The court lady then signaled the maids to guide her to the bathroom. Ashley wasn't able to react because they did their job quickly.
Before she knew it, she was scrubbed clean and was put into a clean dress.
