"An elf?" Why was he attacking me? He must have been mistaken, if only I could convince them of the situation at hand.
Looking to Alais on the side, I ask her if she knows these elves.
"I do," Okay, that was a good start, now I just need her to convince them to help me out. After all, they must have mistaken me for the Heretic, not to mention that beating the Heretic will be difficult without urgent onsite help.
She swiftly moves off towards the elves' location, turning my attention back to the Heretic and his buddy, I use appraisal.

This dude's busted! Why does everyone have such unreasonable stats? They can just enjoy such privileges when I had to work my arse off just to get them to fifteen…
Well, at least I have more charisma than these two.
Wait, did it say Undead?
…
"Alais?! You're alive?" As Alais confronted the sniper, he was spooked by her appearance. He was the one who was accompanying her in Danger Forest.
"Wait, you turned traitor?!"
"Don't even try to make that bull shite!"
"…" He was in shock that Alais actually spoke a colloquial sentence, let alone raise her voice.
"Use your eyes. Can you see what I'm in?"
Scanning her, Febe noticed the essence restrainers on her, not to mention that she had been bound. She was nothing more than a slave.
"Ah! I-I'm sorry-"
"No time. There's a Heretic,"
Like being struck by a bolt of lightning, he was shook. Elves being the tree huggers they are, had a deep 'care' for nature, and Heretics, they were the opposition to the natural order of the world. Ingrained since childhood, it is the duty of all elves to always, always, eliminate any member of the fallen races, were they to ever so come across one.
A fine credo that all the elves abide by.
"Are you telling the truth?" Febe's tone dropped by several octaves as he put on a solemn expression.
"Can't you feel it?"
Indeed, he could feel it. Something was off about the guy not to mention his bird, they were different, special perhaps. A sensation they would feel when encountering a fallen race. How could he not have realised sooner?
…
Pinning the Hero, the two were about to incapacitate him, for good this time. However, in the nick of time, a barrage of arrows rained down on their backs. They were ethereal, a form of essence construct.
Reinforcements had arrived! The band of elves had converged on the scene and all provided their aid to combat the Heretic. The enemy of all creation.
"Does everyone hate me that bad?" He muttered to himself whilst ducking behind a cart. Many arrows proceeded to pierce through the wooden cart around him. The cart horse long dead.
"Hero! Explain!" a deep voice shouted above the sound of mayhem. It was the lead Night Knight, who was obviously attracted toward the commotion here.
Phew, at least the situation will be settled with him around. This guy seems reasonable enough from previous encounters.
After a couple minutes of conversion, a tacit ceasefire was held, as the Hero filled in the Night Knight's on the situation.
"I'm not sure about the Heretic and undead part, but they're heinous felons nonetheless,"
What?! I did nothing wrong…
"Why does everyone always malign me?"
"I think you forgot that you just butchered a demi human. In the middle of the city plaza as well," Savage reminded calmly.
Ah, shite. That was true. Does that mean I really am the bad guy?
…
"Sir Hero, I trust your judgment, however, I have to question the involvement of the elves," The Knight said glancing toward a certain rooftop.
"You have no need to worry, I am most certain that these elves are trustworthy,"
"Oh? Are you implying that you have had previous contact with them before?"
"Are you saying that I can't do what I want in my free time? Plus, have you forgotten about my companion?"
There were a couple points to refute in that statement, such as spending free time as he wanted. This Kingdom wasn't his star smitten backyard, so he sure as hell couldn't do as he wanted, but about his companion. To think she would actually build a connection with the wood elves for the Hero, who was basically her captor.
Was this the effect of his amazing otherworldly capabilities? Or an extreme case of Stockholms syndrome?
The Knight was betting on it being Stockholm syndrome though. But there was also another explanation as to why the elves would intervene and aid the Hero. Reason being they had actually encountered a Heretic, if that was the case then it made sense that they put aside the current pretences and aided the Hero in cornering the criminal. Because if not, the elves would stand nothing to gain, and being the petty pricks they are, would refuse to take such a loss without any gain whatsoever. However, that was the one rationale that would cause them to ignore the repercussions this would incur and attack so wholeheartedly.
A Fallen race. It has been noted through numerous different accounts that the elves, especially the high elves, would ignore all grievances and previous action to specifically target and kill fallen races if they were to be encountered, ignoring the costs of doing so.
This is odd for the prideful elves to do such a thing. However, despite their arrogance, the elves are nonetheless the guardians and representatives of nature. And the fallen races, the bane of natural order in this realm makes them mortal enemies. Having grievances similar to the gods long gone from this realm, banished by the fallen races.
"That makes sense," Despite the overall suspiciousness of the situation, the Knight convinced himself of the rationality of everything.
