Haven’t You Mourned Enough?

Layana stared down at the pack from the huge building she was within.

The pack had been remodeled, making it even better than it used to be.

"Are you still feeling sad?" The sudden soft voice, which belonged to none other than Sheitan, who had appeared out of nowhere, resounded.

Layana quickly turned her head to look at him, and a smile formed on her face.

"You finally came." She said to him,

A wide smile developed on Sheitan's face and he walked up to her. "Sorry. I kind of got caught up in a huge mess. Despite a whole year of exploring, I still can't get used to the new world."

He pulled her into a warm hug and caressed her hair.

"Will you stay with me now?" Layana inquired in a soft, pessimistic voice with her arms tightly wrapped around him.

Sheitan drew back from the hug and cupped her cheeks in his palm. "Of Course. That's why I came back. I am done exploring, for now, so I will stay with you for as long as you want." He placed a soft kiss on her forehead.

"I missed you a lot." She pouted.

"I know. I missed you more. Also, I don't understand how the cell phone of a thing is used. It's quite frustrating." He let out an annoyed breath, and Layana chuckled softly.

"You will get the hang of it." She tucked his hair behind his ear and sighed deeply.

"Laya, are you still sad?" Sheitan, who couldn't help but notice the gloomy glint in her eyes, asked.

Layana sighed heavily yet again and sat down on the sofa.

"I have not found him. It has been 25 years already, and regardless of how hard I have tried, I still haven't found him. I do not know where else to search." She complained.

Sheitan took a long, deep breath and walked over to sit down on the sofa beside her. "Maybe it's just not time. I am pretty sure you will find him." He reassuringly beamed at her.

"But what if I don't? What if something happened to him? What if he's no longer alive?" Layana questioned.

"No, no, Laya, I am sure your father is still alive. He's a supreme alpha and a strong one at that. I doubt anything will happen to him-"

"Then why hasn't he come back? It's been twenty-five years, Sheitan. I have not heard from him or anything. Do you perhaps think... that maybe he hates me because of what happened?" She doubted in a cynical tone.

"No! Your father loves you more than you can imagine, Layana. Didn't he tell you that he doesn't blame you? You need to be optimistic, okay? You never know; he might walk through that door tomorrow, any day, unexpectedly, so don't lose hope, okay?"

Sheitan comforted her and planted a kiss on her forehead. "Have you spoken to Lucifer?" He asked.

"No." Layana shook her head. "Grandpa and grandma have not spoken to me since after my mother's funeral. Uncle Azazel hasn't either, but I understand. He's still grieving; after all, my mother is his twin." She smiled sadly.

"Grandpa is probably handling hell and Grandma is there with him. Though I still blame myself." She fiddled with her fingers, and Sheitan caressed her hair.

"It's not your fault, okay." He patted her on the shoulder and turned his head when the door to the room suddenly pushed open.

Layana's eyes shifted to the door, and they fell on none other than Ileus.

"Uncle?" Quite surprised to see him, Layana stood up from the sofa.

"What is he doing here?" Ileus, who was not pleased to see Sheitan given the fact that they were not on good terms, questioned.

Sheitan arched his brow at him and glanced at him in irritation. "What wouldn't I be doing here?" He retaliated.

"You-"

"Uncle, please not now!" Knowing where this would escalate, Layana glared at the both of them. "What brings you back?" She turned to Ileus.

"This!" Ileus stuffed his hand into the pocket of his jacket and pulled out two golden VIP cards. "The grand party will be held next Friday, which is 5 days from now. You want to meet Valerio's sister, right? This is the only way. He will be there too." He explained.

Layana looked at the cards and slowly nodded her head.

"I see. That's great then." She muttered as she moved to sit down on the sofa.

"Laya, I don't understand why you want to see her so badly. You know she is not your mother, right? True, she looks completely like your mom; you might actually think she's her reincarnation, but... what if she's not? What if she's just a look-alike? And worst of all, she's a vampire. An enemy to our kind."

He elucidated things to her.

"But what if she is, uncle? It's been 25 years, and that girl began to exist three years after my mother's burial. Anything is possible, uncle. I want to see her. Just to look at her."

She pleaded in a sniveling tone, and Ileus pinched between his brows.

"Okay. Maybe you are right. We will see how it goes, okay."

He stood up from the couch, but before he made his way out of the room, he narrowed his eyes at Sheitan, who in return smiled at him in an amused manner.

Ileus slammed the door shut and rested back his head on it.

He took deep breaths and looked up at the ceiling.

'Haven't you mourned enough, Adrik? It's been 25 years now! You have a granddaughter that is lost out there somewhere and a daughter that has been searching for you nonstop.'

'Please just come back to her, or she may overthink, which she has already started.' He sighed as he thought in his mind and walked away.
