Xia Ling stood at the doorway in trepidation.
When was the last time she had stood here? It was the year that she found out about Pei Ziheng's engagement to Wang Jingwan. She had packed her bags dejectedly when her arguments with Pei Ziheng seemed futile. Yet, he caught her just as she was about to leave the house, and slapped her to the ground.
That happened right in the place that she was standing now.
Xia Ling looked down at the exquisite parquet flooring that she had chosen. While it was intricate and elegant, it was also extremely hard. That fall from the slap was painful, but what hurt more was the devastation that she felt from the burning slap on her face.
