"Hello." said Jennifer as she answered her phone.
"Hi Jen." came Nine's voice from the other side of the line.
"Hi Nine." said Jennifer, a smile instantly plastered on her face as she heard his voice.
"How are you?" he asked.
"Good, and how are you?" she asked.
"I'm good as well. I wasn't able to come pick Joy up today since Dom surprisingly called me and told me that he and Natasha were going to pick her up together." said Nine.
"Yes I know, they already picked her up, and it was surprising but it made Joy happy." said Jennifer as she smiled while tidying up her desk.
"I can only imagine how brightly her face lit up." said Nine as he chuckled and Jennifer laughed.
"You won't believe the surprise on her face. But I won't lie, it's nice for parents to come together to pick up their child. It creates memories." said Jennifer as she smiled.
"I agree...I was just surprised that they were together in the first place." said Nine.
"You know, I don't know what you mean when you say that they have some issues. Natasha and Dom look great together. Especially when they're with Joy, they are such a happy family." said Jennifer.
"If only you knew." said Nine as he sighed.
"But I'm sorry, I can't tell you why, it's a family thing." he said.
"I understand and I don't mind at all. If my sister caught me divulging personal information to someone outside the family, she would kill me, literally." laughed Jennifer as Nine laughed.
"Dom wouldn't kill me though, he's chill, but he will be a bit upset, and so would Natasha." said Nine.
"It's fine, I understand, family is family, we can't kill each other...no matter how many times we joke about it." chuckled Jennifer as Nine laughed.
"So yes...I only called to let you know the reason I couldn't come pick up Joy..." said Nine as he cleared his throat.
"Okay...thanks for letting me know..." replied Jennifer.
"You're welcome..." said Nine as they both suddenly went silent.
"Hey do you...would you like to go somewhere with me this evening?" asked Nine suddenly as Jennifer couldn't hide her smile.
"Sure...where?" she asked standing up from her desk.
"We could go to dinner, and then after that we can go see a movie, preferably one about Bigfoot." said Nine as Jennifer laughed when he mentioned Bigfoot.
"Of course, that sounds nice, but there's a staff meeting the entire afternoon and I only get off at around six." she said.
"I could pick you up from work if you want?" he asked.
"You would do that?" she asked in surprise.
"Of course, it's no bother... as long as you want me to." he said.
"I do..." she said.
"Alright then, see you at six." he said.
"See you at six." she replied with a smile.
"Bye." he said.
"Bye..." she said smiling as he hung up.
...
"Yes Mom, I couldn't believe it as well." said Lulu as she was speaking on the phone.
"When I heard that Dom offered Natasha a divorce, I felt like I wasn't even hearing right." said Lulu with a sigh as she shook her head.
"Well I feel the same Lulu. I never thought that Dom would go that far." said Margaret in sheer surprise. When Lulu had called to tell her about what had been happening for the past few days, she was just surprised.
"Me too Mom, I felt like slapping some sense into him." said Lulu.
"Louise, that is very rude, never say that. Dominic is your elder brother, never even think that way." warned Margaret strictly as she shook her head.
"I know mom, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it literally, I meant it figuratively, I would never slap Dom never." said Lulu.
"Better, I raised you better than that." said Margaret.
"Anyway, I couldn't believe that Dom would give Natasha such an option. Does he want to tear the family apart or what?" asked Lulu as she sighed.
"Luckily Natasha didn't accept the divorce just yet, she says that it's best they finalize it when Joy is older." said Lulu.
"I agree with Natasha, if I was in her shoes, I would do the same. After all, you and your brother are the most important to me." said Margaret.
"Mom don't agree!" said Lulu as she was upset.
"Divorce isn't good, and I know that I sound childish but, we have a no divorce rule in the family for a reason. We don't want half siblings, we don't want broken families, we don't want animosity. The only one reason you can remarry is if your spouse dies, and luckily we all have long life in our family." said Lulu.
"I'm not saying that you're childish Lulu, but you need to be considerate. This is Dom and Natasha's life, we are not to meddle in their business, especially not in their marriage. We all know how complicated their marriage has been, and your brother only wants to make things right." said Margaret.
"Marriage is complicated, especially when you don't get married based on your own choices, and I know that part of the vows is "till death do us part" but sometimes, you just suffer so much that you decide it's better to be alone rather than tied to someone you can't bear." said Margaret as Lulu groaned.
"Not you too mom. I need someone on my side. Everyone is siding Dom on this." said Lulu in annoyance.
"That's because he's right, it's his life, and he and Natasha deserve happiness, and if it means they have to go their separate ways, then so be it." said Margaret.
"So you don't believe that they can ever get back together?" asked Lulu as Margaret sighed.
"Anything can happen Lulu, I never doubt that, but it's best we respect their wishes." said Margaret.
"Now Louise, don't you dare meddle in your brother and Natasha's affairs." said Margaret sternly.
"I'm warning you Louise, I don't want to hear another word on this, you let them work out their own issues, it's not your place to meddle in their business." said Margaret with a warning.
"Yeah, yeah I know mom, I know, don't you trust me?" asked Lulu as Margaret shook her head.
"Not at all Lulu, not at all, don't try to force them to get back together, it will only end up blowing up in your face." said Margaret.
"Fine mom, I've heard you...I won't meddle." said Lulu with a sigh and a pout.
"Good." said Margaret.
"Oh and mom, please don't tell dad and Grandfather about this, they're not supposed to know, I wasn't supposed to tell anyone, but I needed to tell you so you know what's going on." she said.
"That's a bit too late Lulu, they already know." said Margaret as she smiled sheepishly.
"How come??!" she asked in surprise.
"Well they're here. Your Grandfather came over for some weekday tea and chatting." said Margaret.
"And you didn't give me a heads up before I started running my mouth like a faulty faucet??!" exclaimed Lulu.
"I didn't know you would be telling me something that was meant to be a secret." said Margaret.
"Oh no, I'm going to be in big trouble, Dom's going to be upset and Natasha's going to hate me!" said Lulu as she began to panic.
"Oh calm down Lulu, none of us are going to say anything." came Ernest's voice in the background.
"You won't?" asked Lulu in surprise.
"Not at all." said Ernest Jr.
"Even though you hate divorce Grandfather?" asked Lulu.
"Well that is a truth, but I cannot lie that I had a hand in forcing their union together, they deserve to make their own choices as the adults that they are, and it is for that reason that I have learnt my lesson and I will desist from imposing my feelings and ideas in their decisions." said Ernest sadly.
"Oh Grandfather, I can tell from the sound of your voice that this doesn't make you happy at all... but you're right... we should stay out of it." said Lulu as she glad.
"Glad that you agree Lulu, now take to your own advice and don't anything that would upset your brother and Natasha." said Margaret as Ernest and Ernest Jr nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, yeah, I got it, I won't do anything like that." she replied.
"Anyway I have to go now mom, see you later, bye dad, bye Grandfather I love you all." she declared speedily without even giving them a chance to answer as she ended the call.
"*Phew*, I almost got myself in trouble there." said Lulu to herself as she shook her head.
"I'm back." said Benjamin as he walked through the front door with shopping bags in his hands.
"Welcome back Ben." replied Lulu as she stood up and went to go help him in the kitchen. After all, she was in his house, which was where she spent most of her time these days.
