The Event(8/?)

After knocking down another adventurer, Ethan looked at the indicator in front of him.

[Enemies Defeated: 51/102(Unstable)]

Seeing the number, he was confused

'The previous group had 50 members, didn't they have a strategy to form a group of 50 members each time...? It might be some people acting on their own accord, but if it isn't...'

Hardening his expression, he thought about the various possibilities

'Another Assassin? Someone that is acting alone...? ...I can't waste anymore time thinking, I need to keep attacking them...'

Searching around him, he boosted his hearing to try to detect their footsteps

'I can't use this ability that well.. I'm not used to it..but still, could they be skilled at sneak attacks? I can't sense anything...'

Sensing an imminent danger at his neck, he quickly dodged the attack before evading another one from the front.

'Why does everyone keep trying to hit me where I'm most protected...?'

With a 'tch' being vocalized, one of the adventurer that had thrown the dagger revealed herself to him with an eerie sneer face on her face

"Did you think this environment is advantageous only for you? There are a lot of assassins who would gladly accept your invitation to show you your place, kid"

Without replying, Ethan decided to make the first move. Feeling himself accelerating to an even greater speed, he used his Instantaneous Movement. He felt as if his mana was beginning to condense more and more, all wihilst the amount of mana needed to use the [Boost Magic] reduce to less than before.

'I think I fight without the boost on my perception for a while. There's the possibility the degree of error may increase, but all-in-all, we are still surrounded by dust'

Believing this, he quickly moved behind the woman that had shown herself whilst trying to sense if there were any others nearby. Failing to sense any other presence in the surrounding vicinity, he understood the woman that stood before him was just a bait to uncover where his exact position was.

'I see. I will be at disadvantage if 50 Adventurers specialized in stealth tries to kill me. It was still hard to dodge their daggers, and they were just 2 of them. It's better to defeat her quickly'

Hitting her body with Air pressure from [Avian], she felt as if all her body was being punched. Although he never tried the technique, he had got used to use [Avian] and [Instant Movement].

'Although it's easy, it's still difficult to hit someone perfectly and this makes me lose strength in the attack..but still, with the fact that I managed to move her forward, my error degree...'

Hitting her on the neck while she was still undergoing the aftermath of the attack, the woman fell powerlessly on the ground.

Sighing, he immediately left the area

'I can't take it lightly, but still, having this chance to use my techniques like this...'

Seeing another woman, he wanted to test the same technique with Wind

'It won't move my opponent, but sudden cuts can create an easier opening for me to use...'

Some minutes later that Ethan managed to knock the woman down, the other person that was with her brought his Captain on the place where the fight should have been still ongoing.

Although it was difficult to see at not too close distances because of the dust, which everyone thought was one of Ethan's magic, the man had a skill that made him able to remember the position of allies, the only flaw was that this damaged his sense of orientation when not in use, making the skill quite inefficient

Arriving at their destination, he saw her comrade on the ground with holes all over her body. Immediately looking away, everyone was shocked. Without a second of hesitation, the few girls in the group glared at their group members while one of them quickly said

"I'll accompany her in the exit of the arena..probably they'll stop me too but that's the only option we have.."

Nodding, the Captain replied

"Thanks, Keanu. I leave Riaan in your care"

Nodding, Keanu immediately took Riaan away.

'How dare...you hurt Riaan. I'll make you pay...'

Clenching both his fists, the Captain was clearly angry.

Looking at his group, he added

"Everyone, find him and then bring him to me..."

Although they wanted to ask why they shouldn't have been re-organize in groups, they saw that their Captain was deadly serious.

'I hope he knows what he's doing...'

'It's not like we need to strictly follow his orders'

Losing confidence in the captain, they parted as he wanted

Understanding he was alone, the Captain had a mad smile on his face.

'I didn't want to use this...but you are testing my patience, boy. After I find you...'

Doing as he thought, he pulled out a black dagger with drawings all over the blade.

'The fun will finally start, After I find you, you'll directly die from this dagger'

Feeling a shiver all over his body, he looked at his hand. Clenching his fist, he saw that he didn't have any problem

'I don't know why..but I feel worried about something'

Shaking his head, he understood it wasn't time to think about it.

'I'll try to knock them when they're alone... Hitting two of them at the same time is too complicated and I don't want to use the perception slowed. I want to keep my reserves for when I can't have such comfortable opportunities'

Feeling someone close, he approached him without a second hesitation. Knocking him with a single hit, he continued his 'harvest' while everyone not in the arena was disappointed

'I could understand if the dust had dissipated after a while, but it doesn't seem it has the intention to, even if someone is entering to try to dispel it...'

'This skill is problematic if it is also able to see well and not be affected by dust..but if we enter all together...'

'We can surely use all the mages to dispel the dust with Wind Magic, but is it worth? A chance to low the whole mages' mana...If it was his intention from the start'

'Then we are playing with flames...'

With even the less intelligent people get this far, everyone was reevaluating Ethan

'I now understand why Loki wanted him in the Familia. He'll probably develop in one of the most powerful Assassins in the future...and the fact he was fighting all the time without using his class at all made me even more shocked...'

Smiling, Tiona had sparks in her eyes

"He wasn't even being serious all the time!? Really, how powerful is he? A level 2? Who is the level 2?"

Laughing, she asked this question while Loki had a smile so mischievous that it was difficult not to notice her excitement...

With her curiosity taking over, Lefiya asked

"L-Loki-sama, why do you seem so happy? Is that she was aware of his plan from the beginning?"

Turning to look at her, her smile didn't dissipate from her face

'I'm pretty sure he didn't even realize how ingenious his action turned out to be ... I think he did it because under pressure...but still'

Staring at speechless crowd of people, she finally replied to Lefiya without looking at her

"Everyone here believes he is worthy of being in my familia without even knowing that he didn't even used his full power yet. Am I right, Lefiya, Riveria?"

Staring at the arena, she heard Riveria sighing while answering

"It's true that he didn't use his full power. I think he managed to trick them all and Loki-sama, being the goddess of Trickery she is obviously satisfied and happy with this..."

Nodding, Loki added

"I saw incredible people, but he is one of the few in the ranking that made me feel this...It feels like..."

Without waiting for her to continue, Lefiya muttered

"He's on another level..."

Confused, she looked at her while Riveria placed a hand on her shoulder

"Is everything okay, Lefiya?"

Feeling the hand on her shoulder, she came back to the real world. Seeing Riveria and Loki staring at her, she had a blush on her face. Holding her arms in front of her chest, she answered

"T-There is something wrong?"

Understanding she replied by instinct, Riveria took her hand back while Loki had a mischievous smile on her face

"Do you feel...inferior to him?"

Staring at her, Lefiya thought about her words before shaking her hands with an awkward laugh

"I-It's not like that..."

Looking down, she had problems to reply

'I-I don't think I'm inferior to him..but still, he's so unbelievable in every thing he does..how can I..compare to him? it's unfair..he's so kind to me that I can't make excuses... I am really pathetic'

Feeling tears that threatened to escape her eyes, she brought her hands on her face to cover it. Disappointed, Riveria glared at Loki for a moment before saying

"Loki-sama, I understand you wanted to tease her, but you shouldn't do this to her..."

Understanding she made a mistake, Loki looked away while staring at the crowd in the East of the Colosseum

'The excitement made me behave too harshly..'

Thinking this, she didn't see that Lefiya was still with her hands on her face

'It wasn't Loki-sama's fault but I can't say this now!! It was my fault..what she said was the truth, I feel inferior to him...but he's the one that brought me and Ais closer... I shouldn't envy him..'

Thinking this, she felt Riveria pat her head

"Loki-sama was just teasing you....don't worry that much about it"

Feeling a little comforted by her words, she made a nod while Loki didn't say anything

Needing to add something more, Riveria sighed

'I'll apologize later...'

"Yes, Lefiya. You feel envious of his magic"

Hearing this, she felt as if everything was finally in place

'Even Riveria said this...I am at the point where I'm so envious that even her is saying this to me.. I feel as if I f-failed him...'

With tears filling her eyes, she was ready to run away but, Riveria stopped her

"...But, that's a feeling everyone in your place would feel. You just need to become stronger then him, training more and more to achieve your objective..If Ethan saw you cry for this, what do you think he would've thought?.."

Thinking about her words, she realized her mistakes

'He would surely be sad...Riveria is right...'

With a sob, she said

"L-Loki-sama! I know that I'm a pathetic person to feel envy towards Ethan"

Remembering Ethan's words, she took her hands off her face with a determined expression while wiping the tears from her eyes

'I can't just envy him expecting my magic to become better... As he said... I formed a group with him to become stronger t-t....together..'

Blushing, she saw she had the attention of Loki. With a 'bright' smile, she added

"... But I'll become stronger with him..he promised it to me!"

Sighing, Loki looked at Riveria with a face that clearly said

'Thank you'

Looking towards the sky, Rivera made a sigh with a smile of her own

'This girl is so energetic now that you're here. Before you came even chanting against a monster made her run away...if you look at her now..the determination you gifted her won't be wasted in such trivial things'

Nodding, she returned to look at Lefiya while Loki apologized for her behavior

'Although I will never thank you openly, I will train you and this will serve as my compensation.'
