Peter knew in his heart that fate was doing its part to seal the bond among all members of the Wilson-Bennett household.
They decided that dinner would be pizza, complete with boxer shorts and T-shirts, even if Timmy was a bit small for either. His would be a diaper and a bib. The atmosphere was much less festive than usual. Both Cody and Maria sensed something and looked at the adults for information.
Russell decided to break the silence and told the little ones about what was happening. He made it a point to stress that, while Timmy’s grandparents wanted to take their brother, it wouldn’t happen.
Both children felt that there was a siege and they were vulnerable. After dinner and at bedtime when both fathers were downstairs relaxing, Cody went to Maria’s room.
“We need to get help to protect Timmy. I’m gonna call Rosie. She might come and help. Nobody’s going to take our little brother away. He’s too small yet to run and hide so we’ve got to protect him.”
