...
Due to the little light that filtered through I couldn't see it well, but from what I could see it was a woman more or less my height, blonde hair, perhaps? There wasn't too much light, but I could make out that she was wearing a blue one-piece dress, apart from that she was standing at the end of a corridor as if she were a ghost. In fact, I even wanted to run away without looking back, but I calmed down and thought, who would visit this place if it wasn't a peculiar? I think I finally found them.
"Who are you?" – asked the woman.
"Isn't it polite to introduce yourself before asking for someone else's name?" – I asked.
"It seems to me that this wight wants to be left fried" – said another voice.
Another woman was going up the stairs, it was Emma, who was dressed and looks like just in the movie. She also had a fireball in her hand, as if she was ready to throw it at me.
"A wight? It seems to me that you are getting confused, child" – I said calmly.
I'm not playing brave, it's just that since I know who they are and that they are not going to do anything to me, I don't have to fear them.
"Calm down, Emma, we still don't know if it's a wight or not" – said another voice.
It was coming behind Emma and it was probably Millard because the only thing I could see was floating clothes.
Beside him were also the twins with the strange masks, waiting without saying a word, as if they were waiting for me to make a sudden movement to act.
"We don't know? Just look at him, this is the second day he has come to observe this heaps of rubble! Who else but a wight would come to this place? Don't you see that not even the residents of this place dare to approach here?" – Emma asked.
"That's true, but... we still don't know if it's a wight or not, it may just he has curiousity about this place" – said another voice.
This time it came from a girl who was right next to Olive. It was Bronwyn, but not the one from the movie or the books, but the one that appeared in the photos I saw earlier.
"That's right, let's give him a chance to explain who is he" – Olive nodded.
"You have heard, answer, who you are and what you are doing here!" – Emma demanded.
What a dominant girl... I like it, I don't know why my grandfather lost interest in her, but thank you grandfather for giving me this opportunity. I promise I will make you proud of me.
"I'm Jacob, Jacob Portman" – I said.
Hearing that name, everyone was completely stunned. As if they didn't believe what they had just heard.
"What did you say your name is?" – Olive asked again.
It couldn't be she had heard that name from a strange person, it must have been because of the heavy rain outside.
"I'm Jacob Portman, Abe Portman's grandson and you must be the peculiar children my grandfather told me about, am I wrong?" – I said.
Technically, he did tell me about them, so it's not a lie.
But none of them answered and instead they looked at each other. Well, I don't know what Millard did because he was invisible, but I saw his clothes lean to one side, so... I guess he did the same as the others.
"You're lying!" – Emma exclaimed furiously.
The fire burned in both of her hands, ready to incinerate this insolent liar and surely wight to ashes.
"Liar? Why would I lie to you? How does that benefit me?" – I asked without understanding.
"I don't know what goes on in the dirty mind of the wights!" – Emma said angrily.
If I can get her to fall in love with me, I'll have to educate her a little in bed... It was a rude comment, I know... but I got a little excited thinking about it.
"Excuse us for being so rude, but... we don't think it's possible for you to be Abe's grandson" - Millard said.
"Why not?" – I asked.
"Because Abe didn't have any grandchildren" - Olive said.
"Oh no? Did he not leave you behind and marry another woman? Well, I am the grandson of that woman" – I said.
But that comment didn't seem to sit very well, especially Emma and Olive, who frowned.
"It's over, I'm going to incinerate him right here!" – Emma said.
Then, She threw a small fireball, but I wasn't scared. I just formed a ball of water and threw it at her fireball, putting it out completely.
"Water Control, it's a peculiar, he was right!" – Bronwyn exclaimed.
"That proves nothing, I propose to take him to Miss Peregrine to be punished!" – Emma exclaimed.
"Why should I be punished? I'm already telling you that I'm Abe's grandson and I've come here to meet you, why don't you believe me?" – I asked somewhat surprised.
Fuck, I thought it would be easy for them to believe me. I didn't expect this behavior at all.
"Okay, if you say who you say you are, I guess you won't mind coming with us peacefully, right?" – Olive asked.
"Not at all, after you" – I said.
"Nothing about that, I will go after you with Bronwyn and if you move, we will leave no trace of you" – Emma said.
Then, she slowly approached and got behind me. Then Bronwyn also came over and stood next to Emma, Millar and the twins with weird masks on either side and Olive in the front.
"Come on, walk and don't stop!" – Emma exclaimed.
The boys began to walk along with me, their hostage.
Luckily, the rain seemed to have stopped quite a bit and now only small drops were falling, so we didn't get very wet during the journey. In fact, they didn't even talk much. They just stared at me.
"I'm sorry for Emma, but she's a bit temperamental" – Millar said quietly.
"It's okay" – I said without giving it importance.
"Millard, don't talk to him, he's the enemy!" – Emma exclaimed.
"Huh? I don't think he's the enemy, you're the only one who thinks that" - Millard said calmly.
Emma frowned, but she didn't say nothing and we continued walking until we reached a place away from the beach. There was a small cavity in the shape of a cave, which from the outside seemed to have no exit.
"Get in the loop, I'll go first and then, follow me" – Olive said.
"What is a loop?" – I asked.
But suddenly, I felt a sensation of freshness running through my mind. As if I had taken a peppermint candy and now the freshness caused by the mint was going through my whole body and at that moment I remembered it. I remembered everything about the loops and their functions.
"Didn't your so-called grandfather teach you about loops? It seems to me that your lies are becoming more and more obvious" – Emma said sarcastically.
"Actually... He didn't tell me much about anything. The little I know about you, he told me a long time ago. But he didn't tell me anything about loops" – I said shrugging.
"The loop is the place where we live, it connects a place to a bygone era, a particular day in the past, that's where we live" - said Olive.
"Ok, and what do I have to do then? Enter and that's all?" – I asked.
Actually, I already knew, I remembered it right the moment I heard that word come out of Olive's lips, why did I remember something that technically should be sealed?
[Some memories will be unlocked with time as they are no longer necessary to hide them]
In other words, that God doesn't want him to cheat. He doesn't want me to know what's going to happen to make it more fun. Is this some kind of game or movie for him?
[Not quite, but sort of...]
In any case, it is not worth thinking about it.
"Exactly, just go in and that's all. After a few seconds walk forward and that's all, it's that simple" – Millard nodded (or so I think).
"That's right, and now that you know what it is, follow me and let's get into the loop" – said Olive.
Olive started to walk and when I looked back Emma and Bronwyn looked at me to follow her so I did.
I walked and walked until I reached the loop. But the moment I entered, the inside of the cave changed completely. In fact, in front of me, where the beach should have been, was the orphanage that was previously completely destroyed.
*Note: the distance is the same as in the movie, so if you have doubts, now are resolved and if you don't remember the film or you didn't watch it, search on Google, thanks.
Do you remember everything I said earlier about the orphanage? Well, this place is the opposite, the grass was clean and freshly cut, imposing statues that seemed to be the guardians were rising before the heads of the children who were playing there. I could see three, which have to be Claire, Hugh and Fiona. As for Horace and Enoch, no idea where they are.
But the most impressive thing of all was the orphanage itself. It was huge and so well maintained that I thought it had just been built.
"You seem quite impressed" – said Olive.
I was so impressed by the incredible view that stood before me with majesty that I completely forgot about Olive's existence.
"It's impressive, especially compared to what I've seen on the other side" – I nodded.
"Hehe, if you are who you say you are, I will be happy to show you the whole place" – smiled Olive.
It was the first time I saw her smile, but that smile will never be forgotten in my life. Olive is a beautiful girl of my height with blonde hair, down to her shoulders, eyes as blue as the ocean itself and a beautiful blue dress that now, with the pleasant sunlight, I could appreciate better, while, by comparison, his shoes were gray in color and shone with a metallic sheen.
"Come on, go forward, we still don't know if you are who you say you are" – Emma said behind me.
I looked for a moment, but I was amazed by the views. Emma was just as beautiful as the one in the movie, but unlike the movie this one didn't wear gloves or behave like a lamb, she was fierce like a tiger and I even feared that she was going to bite me.
"Don't be so rude, Emma, don't you see that the poor boy is stunned? It looks like it's the first time he's visited a loop, don't you think?" – Bronwyn said next to him.
If Emma and Olive were beauties superior to any supermodel, Bronwyn was definitely not far behind.
