Lucas Returns to the Castle
Lucas washed his hand in a small stream in a forest near the Duke's estate. It had taken him much longer than anticipated to wring the information he wanted from the younger son.
He made sure to write down every single piece of information and rolled the papers up and placed them into a tube. He would need to travel to a go-between between the Elven Council information network and his contact.
The sun was already high in the sky and he looked concerned in the direction of the Capital. It almost felt like something terrible had happened. Maybe it was just the fact that he couldn't take care of Eva after such a traumatic event.
It would be late into the night before he could return to her. He couldn't help but feel as if he were a failure of a husband. It should be much safer for them now that he had taken care of so many threatening strings.
