CHAPTER TEN
The next day, Maya was arranging the dressing and at the same time thinking about her aunt and the trauma she is going through, suddenly, a voice interrupted her thought, she turned to see the manager and the two receptionists standing in front of her, the girls were staring coldly at her.
"She stole it, I saw her sneaking out of your office this morning". the 1st girl said pointing an accusing finger at Maya and she was caught off guard by them.
" What is going on? Is there a problem?". Maya asked confusedly.
"You stole a diamond ring from the manager's office, we saw you sneaking out of her office earlier on". the 2nd girl and Maya were confused.
" What?" She sputtered confusedly.
"Listen, a diamond ring is missing in my office, it belongs to a customer and he needs it today". The manager said, looking worried.
" I didn't steal any Diamond ring nor did I go to your office, I don't know what they are talking about". she said, trying to defend herself.
"Liar!" They snapped at her and the manager turned to them.
"Are you girls sure of what you are saying?". she asked.
" Yes, we saw her,".they said.
"Perhaps, let's search her bag to see who is lying or not ". the 1st girl said and the other girl agreed to her.
" I swear, I didn't take any ring, I am not a thief".
"That's what they always say, a thief will never agree she is a thief ". the 2nd girl said coldly and Maya was almost in tears.
" I don't know who to believe, but I would like to search your bag, that Diamond ring is very expensive and can't be missing just like that". she said and Maya still tried to defend herself," I will only believe you if I don't find it in your bag". She reassured her and Maya gave her the bag. The manager was about to search through her bag when she got interrupted by her assistant.
"There you are, I was looking for you". Mr. Cliff said.
" Is there a problem?". she asked.
"Not really, Mr. Duke is here for his ring, he is waiting for you in the lobby". he said and the manager went surprised and the two girls were smiling secretly to themselves, knowing fully well that they stole the diamond ring from the manager's office and hide it in Maya's bag just to frame her and get her kicked out of the company." Is there a problem ms. queen? he asked seeing her worried face
"Yes, the diamond ring got stolen and these two girls claimed to have seen Maya here sneaking out of my office with the ring". she explained.
" I didn't steal anything". she sobs.
"That is not true, because I am just coming out from your office and I saw the diamond ring on your desk". He said and they were surprised.
" Really? I have searched that my office is not in the place I kept it ". Ms. Queen said confusedly.
" Maybe you didn't check harder, it is on your desk right now''. he said, and she quickly rushed off followed by the rest of them in other to be sure if Mr. Cliff was telling the truth or not. Immediately she barged into her office, she saw the box of the diamond ring on her desk and they were surprised.
" How is this possible, it wasn't here before".Ms.queen said surprisedly and the two girls stared surprisedly at each other then ms. the queen turned to them." Did you girls lie to frame Maya?".she asked, staring hard at them.
"No ms. queen, we did see her coming out of your office with the diamond ring". the 1st girl said.
" Then how come it is right here?".she yelled at them.
"That explanation can hold on for later, first you need to go and give this to Mr. Duke, he is probably still waiting". Mr. Cliff said and Ms.queen thanked him sincerely and turned back to the girls.
" I will deal with you girls later". she said and walked away while Maya followed her behind including Mr. cliff. The two girls still stood in confusion wondering how things turned in favor of Maya.
Jayden was on the phone in his office.
"Good". he hung up and stared at one spot. " I am the only one who got to make you suffer Maya, you will come back begging for my help". he said as he clenched his fist, then his brothers barged in and he jerked in shock
"What's up bro". Theo as he sat down on the couch with Ryan.
" Are you crazy! How dare you barge in like that?". he quarrels.
"Why? Were you doing something bad?". he teased and Jayden frowned at him.
"It's really wrong of you to barge in on someone like that". Ryan said and Theo punched his shoulder
" Stop being the good guy you are not". he said and Ryan frowned at him.
"So bro, how is it going? Have you settled things yet with Maya?" He asked.
"What stupid question is that". Jayden asked.
" What I mean is if you have --he got interrupted.
"I know what you mean, well let me inform you, your silly mistakes have led me into being used to seeing her around me every day ". he said rudely.
" How do you mean?"Ryan asked.
"Well, she is pregnant with my child". he said and they were wide-eyed in surprise.
" WHAT?!!" Theo said.
"You heard me". he said and Theo and Ryan stare at each other for a while and then scream in excitement jumping and dancing around in circles, Jayden stares confusedly at them.
" What the fuck are you two doing?" he asked and they stopped dancing and turned to him.
"Celebrating of course". Theo said happily
" Congratulations big bro, this is the best news ever, and believe me, Mom and Dad will die to hear this ". Ryan said.
" Exactly! This should actually call for a bigger celebration, at least my efforts weren't wasted ". Theo said and Jayden scoffed. " You are a bad shooter bro, just one shot, and you got a woman pregnant, and not just any woman, a well-dignified lady as that, you both make a perfect couple". he added.
"So, have you told her to move in with you?". Ryan asked.
" That's the point, she refused".Jayden said.
"What? why?" Theo questioned.
"Didn't you tell her that is against the family rules for a grandchild from the Williams is not allowed outside their homes". Ryan said.
" I guess big bro told her, maybe she is just proving stubbornness knowing fully well on how he first treated her". Theo said.
"Excuse me! What do you mean?"Jayden asked
" Exactly what you heard, big bro, your first approach to her was rude and unlikely, no woman deserves to be treated the way you did". Ryan said.
"I don't care, she insulted me and she deserves whatever that comes her way, I am Jayden Williams, no one talks back at me, and go scot free, that lady beneath me, and she must face the consequences". he said.
" I don't think so anymore, she is our responsibility now, I mean she is carrying the first grandchild of the Williams and she needs to be treated equally if Mom and Dad got to find out what you are doing to her, they won't be happy with you".Theo said.
"Yeah, try and make her live with you". Ryan said.
" You two don't need to worry about that, I have my ways, and she will have no choice but to come live with me until the baby is born". he smirks.
"What are your plans?" Ryan asked.
"Just wait and see and please don't let our parents know about this until I bring her home".
" No problem, you have our word".Ryan said.
"But don't do anything stupid," Theo said.
Maya closed from her work and was heading to the road to stop a taxi, but then her phone beeped with an incoming message, she glanced through and noticed the person that sent the message, and she read to herself.
"If you decided to change your mind about staying with me, you know where to find me in the clubhouse". she reads, and she scoffs. " What a moron". She halts a taxi, enters and it zooms off.
