KNEW ME
Lily’s POV
It was the first time I rode in an expensive car. It felt different and surreal. I looked at Mr. Romano as he drove. He looked so serious. I didn't know what he was thinking. I was busy admiring his driving skills when my phone rang suddenly, it was my mother calling.
I glanced at my boss and caught him looking at me. My chest hammered instantly.
“Why don’t you answer it? Maybe it’s an important call,” he said.
“Lily, you’re still at work?” Mom asked as soon as I answered the call.
“Yes, mom,” I said.
“Is that so? What time will you make it home?”
“Maybe in a bit or so…” I answered hesitantly. “Can you please take care of the food for dinner? And, how’s Angela?”
“She’s here next to me,” mom answered. “She kept on asking me to call you.”
“Mom, please give her the phone, and I will talk to her.”
“Hello, Mommy?” The sound of Angela’s soft voice aired from the other line. “I will tell you many stories.”
