Coven vs Coven (With a Little Bit of Wolf Mixed in)

Ambling up to the modern-looking house, I saw the Cullen Family talking to one another before a blur rushed up to me.

I tensed, thinking they'd mistaken me for an enemy - though that should be pretty much impossible because of my scent - but it seemed I'd got it all wrong as I was brought into a tight hug. Looking down in confusion, I identified the Vampire as Edythe because of the bronze-red hair I could see.

Not sure where this had come from, I returned the hug tentatively, but nonetheless, still enjoyed the feeling of the ice cube girl in front of me.

Because of my superior strength and durability, Edythe didn't feel hard to me anymore. Vampires usually felt like a rock to those who didn't have the same strength as them. But right now, she felt soft and delicate.

I guess it's all to do with perspective? Most things feel soft to me now, my strength being enough to crumble metal like it was cardboard and all that.

After a few more seconds, we separated and Edythe beamed up at me, "Hey, Alexander," she stepped back a bit, but a grateful look flashed over her face, "Thanks for coming to help out with my Covens problems. You know you didn't need to..." she trailed off seeing my raised hand and smirk.

I smacked myself mentally knowing how cheesy and possibly cringey I was about to sound.

"Don't worry about it, Edy. Anything I can do to help you while also keeping my sister safe from outside threats," I kept my smirk as I walked over to the other Vampires with Edythe next to me.

Seeing us and most definitely having seen the hug, Rosalie scowled with slight disdain over her face - hey, slight disdain is better than total disdain, right? - before speaking to Edythe, "How do you stay so close to him, Edythe? He feels like an open fire even from where I'm standing," as if to enforce her point, she recoiled back a bit, hiding half of herself behind her mate, Emmett, seemingly for protection against the heat from my body.

Though I knew she was taking a dig at me, from the slightly uncomfortable looks on every other vampire's faces, I could tell there was definite truth behind Rosalie's statement.

Thinking about it made even me look to Edythe to see her answer to what was asked.

In reply, Edythe just shrugged her shoulders with an embarrassed look on her face, "I don't know...He doesn't feel THAT warm, Rosalie. His warmth feels nice to me, especially as us Vampires never get to feel warm either," seeing the weird stares from her family, Edythe's embarrassment quickly turned to flustered and she snapped at them, "It's just a nice change to my permanent coldness, is all!"

And with that, she refused to meet eyes with any of the others, even me. Probably very embarrassed.

Looking at her like this, I couldn't figure out how a 100+ year old Vampire could still be so cute--Questions for later, Alexander, questions for later.

As I thought this, I looked over at the others who were still laughing lightly at Edythe's behavior, a serious look on mine. Seeing my face, Carlisle composed himself before speaking to me.

"We've only just started speaking about how we're going to tackle the Covens, and we've decided to attack them quick and fast, going for disabling blows to get our message across. Like I mentioned yesterday, we'll be working in two different groups, one led by me and the other led by Jasper. We know where they're camped out at, so we hold the element of surprise and we need to make use of it before they move again and get closer to the town," Carlisle took a breath in, while not necessary to him biologically, it was necessary for speech, before carrying on, "We're heading off now, and I'll hand you over to Jasper who will give you details more centered around your operation."

Nodding, I looked to Edythe before nodding at her with a reassuring smile seeing her worried look.

"See you in a bit, Edy - Give 'em hell~" with this, I walked over to Edward, Emmett, and Jasper who smiled at what I said.

Looking over at Jasper, I gave him a look that asked him to fill me in. Luckily, Jasper wasn't dense and got to it while we walked a bit further into the woods behind the Cullen household.

"Emmett and Edward will be attacking the front of the Coven, attracting the attention, while you and I will be attacking from the flanks, taking them by surprise. Or if any of them try and run, we'll be the ones to stop them," he gave me a look that demanded my attention and it was then that I was reminded that Jasper was a Major in the army and trained Newborns to fight for decades after he was turned, "We don't want to kill them, Alex. So don't rip them apart, okay? We just need to get the message across that these lands are the Cullen's and that when you're not wanted here, you'd best leave."

His voice was stern and I gave him a nod that I knew what to do, but to lighten the mood a little, I did a salute, slightly mocking him, "Sir, yes, sir!"

Seeing his blank stare, I laughed, followed by Emmett who had an impish smile on his face, and followed my lead and did the same salute. Edward just chuckled and shook his head at the two of us. Jasper, who was on the other end of the joke, still laughed but looked at me with a slightly admonishing look.

"I was a Major in the Army, you know?" he joked back, seemingly wondering about how I was so accurate with my guess.

Shrugging, I gave back a simple answer, "I could've guessed. I've only ever seen Soldiers with gazes like your own. Gazes that command attention purely because of the experience in them," I trailed off but laughed to myself before speaking, "But I guess most Vampires would have gazes full of experience, huh? Immortality and all that."

The others just smiled at this before they started picking up into a run. I followed after them, not needing to partially shift to keep up anymore. My normal human form was on par with Vampires, while my Partial Shift form was superior.

I wonder how strong my full-form will be?

. . .

Jasper and I were currently looking down at the massive run-down house in the middle of the woods - Like, who makes these houses? It's right in the middle of nowhere and isn't accessible by most things, so whoever built this was either a hermit or an idiot.

And these woods are like the goddamn Blair Witch woods...thinking about that, I wonder if there are Witches in this world? There weren't any Lycans before I rocked up, so I wonder if there's more than meets the eye about this world. I hope there is. Otherwise exploring this world would get a bit boring.

Anyway, I saw Jasper's hand raised, telling me to hang back and stop, so I did, just he did, and we waited. We'd agreed to silence on the way over so no Vampires could hear us coming. To make sure this worked, Jasper kept himself and me out of range of their hearing otherwise they'd also hear my heart beating in my chest. It beat very slowly but each beat was powerful - probably powerful enough to work as an industrial pump, honestly - so it'd be pretty easy for a Vampire to hear it.

Hence why we were pretty far back from the house. Luckily my senses were incredible and I could still see and hear, damn, I could still smell the Vampires inside it.

Currently, we were waiting for Edward and Emmett to make their moves and from what I could hear that would happen in three...two...one...

*BANG!*

A massive tree found itself as javelin as it collided into the front of the house, ripping apart the rotting wood with little effort. Though it still stopped.

I heard a sigh before the log seemed to reverse itself and flew back the way it came.

I heard Emmett's surprised laughter before he barreled into the house, much like the log, before coming out the back end with a woman in his hands. She had light-olive colored skin, long black hair, and blood-red eyes. Her face, which usually would've been beautiful, was curled into a snarl as she tried to free herself from Emmett's grasp.

Heh, good luck with that~

As I suspected, she couldn't get out of it and Emmett rammed her into a log before he looked in our direction before grinning.

And then launching a pissed off Vampire woman at us.

Well, there goes the plan.

Jasper seemed to hold the same thoughts as he let out an involuntary sigh before looking to me, "Come on then, Alex, let's clean up Emmett's mess..." with that he sped off.

Not one to be left behind, I shifted into my Partial Form before shooting off after him and soon overtaking him. Seeing the Vampire still flying in the air, I thought of the irony Rosalie would feel if she saw what I was about to do.

Flexing my legs, I jumped, leaving deep indentations on the ground below me. Luckily, I'd taken my shoes off, otherwise, they'd have been blown to pieces by the force.

Flying through the air, I caught the Vampire, wrestling her head into a headlock, and pinned her underneath me as both our momentum was canceled and we fell to the ground. She clawed at my arms, trying to get through my hold, but unlucky for her:

I was even stronger than Emmett, and he held her just fine.

We collided with the ground, her underneath me, with me pushing her into the ground, trying to subdue her. She must have seen the fur as she hissed at me before speaking with a strained force - I was strangling her and making it hard for air to pass through her throat. She didn't need to breath, but as I said, they still need air to speak.

"Let go of me, dog!" her melodic voice was twisted in anger and a condescending attitude which kinda pissed me off, "Why are you helping the Cullens? This has nothing to do with you! We hold the right to go wherever we please!"

Rolling my eyes, I moved my head to see Jasper running over to help Emmett who'd been jumped by who I could guess as the mate of whomever I was holding.

"Shut up. I'm helping them because keeping you bloodsuckers away will keep people safe," I let out a breath, smiling down at the angry red eyes looking up at me, "Now, relax, or I'll have to start breaking things."

But just like most Vampires, her pride wouldn't allow it and she struggled with even more fervor.

Rolling my eyes once more, I grabbed a flailing arm before sitting up and placing a knee of her shoulder blade, "I did warn you," she tried to break through even more after I said this, but I had a stronghold on her wrist, and I just outstretched it before pulling it back toward me, sickening crunches and rock-grinding noises echoing around with the pained screams.

It wasn't very nice, honestly, but we needed to send a message and subdue the coven. I was just doing what I had to.

Finally, with a weird popping sound, the arm fully bent back before I let it drop the side of the Vampire who was shivering from the pain. She wasn't actively trying to break free any longer but her eyes damn near shone with hatred for me.

I knew her shoulder would soon heal, but it was the pain and the memory of the pain which would stop her from trying to break free. I also had no doubt that I could catch up to her and do it again. Something told me that she knew the same thing. Kind of like an instinctual fear.

Picking her up by the neck, I walked over to where Emmett was - subduing the male Vampire who'd jumped on him after he threw the one I was carrying back.

Looking behind him, I could see Edward and Jasper fighting two other Vampires.

Wait, where's the fifth one?

Picking up the pace a little, I walked over to Emmett, "Hey, Emmett," he looked up at me, smiling when he saw me carrying the woman but I ignored it and carried on, "Wasn't there supposed to be five Vampires in this Coven?"

His face went stiff for a minute before he shrugged his shoulders, "Maybe he was out hunting. We'll either wait for him or just take these guys out of town and hope he gets the message."

Squinting my eyes at him, I wondered if he was a bit too stupid before passing him the Vampire I was carrying. He had strength only bested by me, so I was sure he could hold down two injured Vampires.

Right now I had to find out where the last one was. I kept my senses as keen as possible but by then it was too late.

I felt a hard and impossibly sharp object enter my back and out of my chest. Looking down, I saw a crystal-like blade which seemed to burn my flesh. I'd felt this burning before:

Vampire Venom.

Huh. Shit.

"You think you can mess with my Coven? Stupid fucking dog," the voice behind me sounded old, ancient even, and I instantly knew Carlisle didn't know the real age of this Vampire 'friend' of his. No matter.

Grabbing the blade with my hands, I instantly knew what it was made of. Squinting my eyes in disgust, I gripped the blade tightly, "You made a blade out of a Vampire?" I asked in slight disbelief, "How? Why? And finally, just...what the fuck?"

Despite the visible blade sticking out my chest, my voice didn't seem any different than normal. My metabolism and overall physique had become immune, or at least highly resistant to Venom after my fight with Laurent. And a blade is only a blade to my inhuman healing ability. No matter how sharp or durable it is.

"Never you mind that, mutt. You're about to die, after all," oblivious to the smirk on my face, the ancient voice spoke condescendingly, "Goodbye."

He went to move the blade downward, bisecting me, or partially, I guess. But he found he couldn't move the blade.

Turning my face toward him, he finally got to see the smirk which developed into a full-on manic smile. He seemed to falter a little but he put another hand on the blade's handle before pushing down with even more force.

The fur on my hands, along with my sturdy flesh and bone helped me hold the blade without getting cut, the energy subconsciously going and...seemingly fortifying the area.

Hmm, interesting. Gotta do some experiments on this.

Anyway, I finally spoke to the old vampire. Long white hair and blood-red eyes that looked slightly milky like the eyes of someone who was blind. He looked incredibly handsome - not that I swung that way, just an observation - and he had what looked to be battle scars on his cheeks. Probably from a sword similar to what he was holding right now.

"Well, this is nice," I said before pushing the sword back through my chest with unnatural strength which easily pushed the Vampire back, "Let's have a proper fight."

As he stumbled backward, I spun around and charged at him, my heart beating just a tiny bit quicker and a tiny bit harder. But it was slowly increasing. Just like my excitement. Seems my instincts like fighting. Luckily, I do too.

Slamming a fist forward in such a way that it used the maximum force possible, the air around me gave way in a turbulent storm, almost crackling, and the man barely lifted his sword in such a way that it blocked my herculean punch.

Surprisingly, he diffused the force into the ground and only went back a few feet but left two deep trails in the dirt below.

Seems like I'm gonna have a good fight, huh?

Where I am, it still counts as Friday, so this chapter isn't late, I guess? I'll say it counts.
