Once the message of Chief Yaqub was clear, on his command, the crowd scattered away. He turned around to give some instructions to his people and let them handle the children before he began walking toward a shade.
A woman was ready with a glass of water for him. Ruth was amused to see him looking into that woman's eyes for a moment before he sat down on what looked like a cot made up of wood and ropes, unfazed by the presence of women around him.
When did he become so comfortable around women, Ruth wondered.
Edwin walked toward that shade, and no one questioned him for that as they all were curious to meet the man.
Yaqub was discussing something with a group of men when Edwin's voice fell on his ears.
"Chief Yaqub?!"
The old man turned his head to see a handsome, tall young man staring at him with his curious cerulean blue eyes, accompanied by his friends.
