Edwin and the group were back on their ship with the compass that Balkann had given them. Lester had already reached Vincardine, leaving them to continue on their journey.
The ship was gliding over the waves to the South. Edwin was standing on the deck, gazing out at the ocean with a calm face.
He didn't realise for how long he stood there with many thoughts on his mind.
"Penny for your thoughts?"
He blinked before turning to face Ruth, who came to stand beside him, resting her back on the railing of the ship.
He leaned forward, resting his elbows on the railing, smiling at her.
"Nothing much."
She rolled her eyes. She knew he was only trying to dodge her question.
"You still think that I would believe that?"
He grinned. "I hoped so."
"Well your hopes have gone into vain. So tell me."
Edwin turned his gaze again on the blue sea. The patterns of the waves mesmerised him.
"I was thinking about my parents. I wonder which route they took and what exactly happened to them."
