DEVON.
I sat in my dark room, craving to mark Selene but she wasn't ready to give me a chance. She constantly refused and denied being my mate making it obvious that she despises me.
A crooked smile appeared on my face as I reminisced about her beautiful face and her beautiful body figure. I wanted to place my hands on her waist.
Suddenly, I heard a knock, interrupting my thoughts.
I swiftly turned to the door and the scent of soap and dust made me realize that it was a maid.
"Come in," I ordered, placing my hands on the tip of the glass cup.
"What is the matter, it better be good," I said without staring at her.
"Ms. Vania is here to see you, Master." The maid announced.
My brows furred at the thought of Vania and my blood boiled but I chose to remain calm.
"Leave," I ordered and she bowed down slightly before exiting the room.
I expected Vania to walk through that door in a few seconds from now and just as I expected, she walked into my room wearing a green strapless dress.
"Devon..." Her lips curved in a smile.
"What brings you here?" I cut her off abruptly, this isn't the time. I am not in the mood to entertain her, I can't get my mind off Selene.
"I came here to see you." She frowned and her brown arch.
"Or can't I see you? You don't want me around you anymore?" Vania asked.
She sat on the couch and crossed her legs elegantly.
I looked away, my eyes fixed on the open window, my fingers locked together.
"I'm busy at the moment, why don't you come some other time" I said leaving the wine glass on the table.
I stood to my feet and walked towards the door, totally ignoring her.
"But Devon…" she paused, gulping hard.
"I just got here and I can't wait for you to return!" She said,
"Vania!"
My frown deepened.
I stared at her with bloodshot eyes.
She watched me and nodded.
"Okay, I'll leave," Venia noted.
"Good," I responded sternly.
I watched her gingerly stand up from the couch and walk toward where I stood, "I'll come soon," She whispered, placing her hand on my chest. With a smirk, Venia walked past me and slammed the door.
Clenching my teeth, I walked back to my seat to finish my wine but I couldn't.
Selene's face kept appearing.
She is indeed fierce and her stubbornness is something else.
"I have to win her over and forget about returning to her pack, I have to!"
SELENE.
After finishing my food, I turned to the maidens who stood in front of me and watched me eat.
"Take a look! I'm done," I gritted my teeth.
I hissed loudly, not minding their looks.
"Now, just like a puppet, go back to your master and tell him that I've finished it, okay?" I said and hissed again, more frustrated.
The maidens didn't utter a word to me, they obediently cleared the place and exited the room with the dishes.
"Argh!" I growled and clutched the hem of my garment.
"I hate you, Devon, I fucking hate you!" I muttered and hit my hand on the table in anger.
"You will be mine, You just don't know it yet." A hard muscular voice boomed behind me.
I turned around to find Devon, causing me to jolt backward in fear.
"What the hell are you doing here? At least give me some privacy," I yelled.
He grinned.
"You are my mate, I watch every move you make."
Irritated, my eyes hardened.
"How long have you been standing here?"
"Long enough to know that you ate your meal and I am pleased." He smiled.
I scoffed.
I moved towards my bed, sat, and watched him walk around the room.
Suddenly, I watched him sniff and his eyes deepened.
He looked at me with dead eyes.
"You had a visitor?"
I bit my lower lip hoping that he wasn't watching me when the strange man was present.
"No, who else expects you and the servants you assigned to monitor me like a hawk?" I asked trying to act naturally so that he wouldn't suspect anything.
"Are you sure?" He asked and moved closer to me.
I frowned.
"Yes, I'm sure and I don't know why you're asking me this question because you know no one else can enter his room," I said trying to convince him. l desperately waited for him to leave because I was tired of him lurking around me every second.
A thought crawled into my mind.
"Devon!"
I called hoping that if I asked him nicely this time, he'd let me leave.
He turned to me.
"Call my name again, I love hearing it from your lips, it hits differently," He uttered to my surprise.
I narrowed my eyes. I couldn't help but wonder how he found every little opportunity to piss me off.
Ignoring his words, I walked closer to him, "Please let me go back to my pack."
A dry laugh escaped Devon's lips, it didn't reach his eyes.
"What makes you think that I'll let you go, huh?" Devon asked and took a few steps closer to me.
My heart shattered.
"Just let me go, I can't stay here, I don't want you, I despise you, just let me go!" I cried out, pouring my heart.
Devon didn't seem to be affected by my words, instead, I watched his eyes radiate in anger.
"You're mine and you'll remain mine, I won't let you go for any reason."
His face was close to mine. Surprisingly, he touched my face and brushed the strand of hair falling on my face behind my ear.
"Ask anyone, darling." He grinned.
"Everyone, mortal or beast knows that I never lose anything precious to me. I'll keep you close, so close!"
I felt his hot breath on my face and my heart began to beat at an unusual rate.
I quickly moved away.
"Get away from me!" I sparked.
His grin deepened.
"You can't do anything to push me away, you can't also run away, no matter how hard you try, there's nothing you can do, accept this Selene, and stop being tough!" His grin vanished.
His words only made me more desperate to prove him wrong.
"I have a meeting to attend to right now, so I'll see you soon," He announced and vanished immediately.
"Fuck!" I cursed and bit my lip in frustration.
I felt the urge to punch him in the face but I couldn't instead, making me feel weak.
"He's a monster! A fucking devil!" I thought about throwing my hands around my hair.
At once, a soft chuckle jolted me. Scared to my toes, I looked behind me.
"You again!" I yelled.
"Why do you immortals find pleasure in scaring me to death!"
He chuckled.
"You have to flee from him." I heard him say.
"But how? I can't even escape this room."
I watched him rub a finger on the wall, his eyes admired his nails.
"Have you made up your mind?" He asked, ignoring my words.
"But you haven't told me what you want me to do?"
"Easy Selene, very easy but you didn't ask."
"You said that you'll give me until tomorrow to decide" I reminded him, muttering.
"I felt your spirit calling out to me and so I came," He noted.
"Yes, I want to leave, I badly want to. I don't care how I'll leave but I just want to go back to my home."
His red eyes flashed.
"Then, you have to resist the devil. Fight towards his advances and be as rebellious as a wild cat. When he sees how vicious and stubborn you are, he will grow tired of your acts and let you go, I assure you this."
