Chapter 9 "Quiz Bee" (3)

All High School Competition is a tradition held here in the City.

It is held every three years in City Z. This tradition starts a long years ago. It all started when a person named "Famonte Andrico" was only eighteen years old and in the third year of high school.

He was the first one who won against the smartest students

in City Z. And he was the first one who got the title of "City Z's smartest student."

Famonte Andrico is none other than Famonte Ashtria's beloved Grandfather.

And that's the reason her grandfather got a special invitation to the competition.

And that's the reason why Ashtria's grandfather makes her read all of his books in his storage. And strictly coach her every day when he heard that his granddaughter is going to participate in their school's Quiz Bee competition for finding the most suitable representative for the upcoming All Highschool Competition.

That's one of the reasons why Ashtria was confident, because her beloved grandpa did his best to coach her, and she is confident not only in her capability but also in the capability of her grandfather. After all, he was the one who patiently taught her all the things that he knew.

When her grandpa learns about the incident where Ashtria's guide sheets were stolen he got furious, and that was also the trigger why her grandpa coaches his granddaughter non-stop.

Grandpa coaches her and advises her carefully each day and night. Ashtria saw how her grandpa loved her. He made an effort every day to teach her, he made sure that all the things that he taught her sunk deeply into her mind.

Grandpa said to Ashtria that no matter what happens in the competition just always stays calm and confident and doesn't let others affect her, Ashtria fully knows that.

But above all, he also told Ashtria about all the possible tricks in the All Highschool Competition's questions.

The fourth battle starts, this battle is the final battle for today.

The first question appears from the huge screen, both Ashtria and Shaina's left hand were on their chest while the right hand is placed on their backs.

The countdown starts, Ashtria waited till the countdown ends, then immediately presses the buzzer button, Shaina was late by zero point five. There Ashtria answers the question, and her answer was correct giving her the first point for the battle.

This continued, time passed, and now Ashtria have four points while Shaina have two, but she isn't nervous, she smiled more as she was getting more excited.

She got the seventh question as Ashtria was late on pressing the button, she now had three points while Ashtria have four. The eighth question appears on the screen, as the countdown continues Ashtria took a deep breath and presses the button as fast as she could, and answer the question.

It's correct, now she has five while Shaina has three.

When the ninth question arrives, then the countdown ends Shaina aggressively presses the button. She got the chance to answer and her answer was right.

Now she has four while Ashtria got five, if she got the other question again and their points will turn drawn. So there will be an additional question, this happened earlier in Raign's brother, Raile Hilstone, and his opponent's battle.

But, the tenth question is a question Ashtria won't let the other people answer.

Why? Because it's one of the lessons her grandfather taught her. When the countdown ends she pressed the button as fast as she could, and there she got the chance to answer.

Ashtria remembers how her Grandfather handed her piles of so many old books with so much dust on them.

At that time she suddenly sneezed loudly, the books accidentally slips from her grasp, and her grandfather chased after her while having his ideal thick wooden stick in his hands.

She also remembers how her grandfather glares at her when he caught her dazed while reading a book. She also remembers how proud her grandfather looked when she got all of his questions correctly.

Ashtria remembers all of her beloved Grandpa's efforts for her.

She feels warm in her heart remembering these memories.

She smile softly after she answered the question, her heart is full of warmth remembering the reason why she can get in and stand on this stage till now because of her Grandpa.

She remembers her Grandpa's wide grin showing how proud he is of her.

The crowd turns silent, the host suddenly announced the

final winner.

The crowds cheers at Ashtria happily especially all the people in the crowds who believed in her.

Teacher Ann was shocked and proud at the same time.

The fourth day ends there, Raign, Ashtria, and Jane were currently walking through the school halls to go home. Raign babbles non-stop while Jane is as usual quiet.

Raile and Shaina suddenly approach the three.

Shaine looks at Ashtria with a wide grin on her face, and then suddenly beams at her, "Ashtria is smart like the news says about her!!!" she said excitedly.

"I'm so proud to have the honor to compete against you Ashy!" she adds.

"You are also a great opponent," Ashtria said with respect,

"Oh~ that's nice to know then, but you know, I felt amazed watching you while answering each question confidently," she exclaimed.

"Yes especially when the time you answered the tenth question...your so...cool," Raile said and smiled at Ashtria,

"Oi oi oiii~ Raile, what's up with that smile of yours huh?~" Shaina said teasingly, Raign laughs at her brother, "Brother are you a pedo?" after saying that Raign and Shaina both laugh out loud.

"Oi stop it!" Raile only smiled at their antics, "Tomorrow is the last day of the competition, I wonder who will win." Shaina suddenly said.

"I hope brother and Ashy end up as the representative for AHSC!" said Raign excitedly while jumping up and down.

"We have a meeting so we have to go now." said Shaina, "I want

to go home now and eat." said Raign, Raile smiled at his sister

and ruffled her hair.

The next day came pretty quickly, every student was excited to know who will end up as the representative for their school.

The last remaining participants are four, for today's Quiz Bee Competition the competitors will compete with each other just like yesterday. But there's something new today.

All four competitors will simultaneously compete with each other. So today's competition is much more tense not just because of the much more harder questions.

Today's competition has a time limit of twenty minutes, all four competitors will stand on the stage while the questions are shown on the screen. The first one who will press the button after the ten seconds countdown will have the right to answer.

There will be a total of fifty questions provided for this battle, the number of scores a participant will get, will determine who will get the First, Second, and Third place.

The first and second placers will be the ones who will represent the school.

Ashtria is currently eating at the school's cafeteria, she's with her circle of friends as usual, and there are still at least thirty minutes before the competition starts.

She get up and said she had to go and use the bathroom, Ashtria goes to the bathroom. Currently, the bathroom has no students at all because all students are busy with today's competition.

After going inside one of the cubicles inside, the light suddenly turns off then she heard the door bang as it close loudly.

She immediately goes out of the cubicle, the bathroom quite is dark but she can still see a bit because she had very sharp eyes.

She slowly walks towards the door to check it, and her guess was right, it was locked, and she was now trapped inside.

Looks like there's someone who doesn't want her to compete on the stage.
