They easily finished the wine, kissing each other between drinks. Both of their hands held onto each other, the stem of the crystal wine glass between their intertwined fingers.

It was like every other time they had drank in each other's presence. Varya felt magnetized to him and every sensation he elicited from her was intensified. She had to resist the urge to cling to him like he was going to disappear from her reach at any moment.

Despite the inferno burning inside of him each time their lips met, Basileus had to pull back before he got carried away.

His arms were around her waist and communicated his true feelings even if his words said something else.

"Should we go to sleep?" he asked, his voice breathless. "You have another long day ahead of you tomorrow."

She nodded in agreement but she couldn't help her fingers going into his hair and pulling his lips against hers again, a small noise of frustration escaping her mouth as soon as the kiss was broken again.
