I wasn't going to let this pain stop me from helping out in this battle. My legs wanted to just give out but deep down I know that I'll need to overcome anything to get stronger.
"You can't even respond to me, yet you want to go help. I won't stop you but be careful." Mina suggests with a bit of concern in her voice.
I just gave a slight shrug with the little strength I had before beginning to make my way towards the smoke. Blood still stained my vision but it didn't bother me.
The feeling of being able to do something more is helping me push through this pain.
Each step he took got him closer to the combat ahead but it was starting to die down. It was almost as if the Mitho had disappeared from the area, the smoke started to clear.
After a few minutes the smoke had completely disappeared and the soldiers were all left standing there idle. Not knowing what to do since the enemy just completely disappeared.
"Any signs of the Mitho?" Captain Hirashumi asks over the comms.
"It just completely disappeared off our radar." A woman answers.
I'm assuming that's another one of the jobs you could get put on as support but I guess fighting isn't required from me now. Maybe it's time to rest after all.
Thud. The sound of Kenji's body hitting the ground is heard.
I saw Katsuro standing ahead of me looking up at the sky before I fell back onto the ground. It's okay now since the fight appears to be over.
"Also we'll need a medical team asap." Captain Hirashumi says over the comm with a serious tone in his voice.
Misaki was quiet, Katsuro wasn't over here speaking to me again, and the rest of the squad also appeared to be silent. The damage everyone took is still in question but I think we helped prevent things from being any worse.
It's time to sleep for now.
Shortly after Kenji passed out from exhaustion, loss of blood, and overuse of power. Him and the rest of his team were taken safely back to the base with no sign of the previous Mitho.
{Back At Angelic Core Headquarters.} A couple of days after the alert.
I woke up to the sight of the medical room and I recognized it without any hesitation. I'm not sure how long I was out but I know that I took a lot of damage.
"Holy sh*t you're awake. That's a relief." Aliza says with a relieved expression on her face.
"I don't even know how long I was out." I respond while slowly sitting up.
I've got a bit of pain in my body still which is expected but I have to keep training. The power I was able to use against that Mitho helped me out a lot.
"You were out a couple of days. Most of your squad was in all honesty." Aliza says calmly.
"How bad was everyone else?" I question with a bit of concern in my voice.
I wasn't used to having this kind of concern for people since I barely know any of them all that well but it doesn't hurt. Caring about your comrades is a normal thing or so they say.
Some stories in class told us about how things worked in the military and how close soldiers got with each other.
"No serious injuries besides you and Katsuro but it's no problem thanks to our technology. Kept you guys in good shape and helped your injuries heal a lot faster." Aliza responds while taking a seat next to my bed.
I can kind of sense how strong she is just by being next to her. It really is crazy that I'm not on a squad with her or that she's not on this squad.
"Mostly sounds like good news." I speak up while taking a look around the room.
I didn't see the woman from before that helped with taking care of my hand. I'm sure she has other things to take care of but I thought she'd be here to check on the injured people.
"It is. We've not usually seen people come back, especially not after facing a Mitho of that tier." Aliza mentions while crossing her arms.
"What tier was the Mitho we fought?" I question with a bit of curiosity in my voice.
It wasn't a tier 2 since the strength of that thing was incredible. It had to be a tier 1 or maybe even a catastrophic Tier Mitho.
We really stood our ground against the damn thing though.
"Glad to see you're awake. We'll be taking the smaller alerts for the time being while everyone is recovering and getting used to these alerts." Katsuro speaks up from behind.
Turning around I could immediately see him with bandages wrapped around his head, stomach, and his right arm was put into a makeshift cast.
"You got a good captain. Take care of each other more so I don't have to worry about seeing you here again." Aliza says before getting up and leaving the room.
Honestly didn't think she'd be caring about me already since we barely know each other.
"I'm okay with whatever it is that we have to do captain." I say with a respectful tone in my voice.
We weren't alone and were inside of the infirmary it seems so I wasn't going to say or do anything disrespectful. Also looking at myself it was kind of shocking to see that I wasn't all bandaged up like a mummy.
I'll consider myself lucky this time around with everything that happened.
"Kenji you did great out there. I know you'll have my back and the rest of the teams back. We're only temporarily taking the smaller missions to help everyone with recovery." Katsuro mentions with a bit of disappointment in his voice.
"We'll be back in the main battlefield eventually." I reply while getting out of my bed.
I can't get stronger without pushing my limits to the edge.
