I smiled at her description. "That does sound familiar."

"And you, my dear, are already part of that family," Emily continued. "Not because you married Lucas or because you're carrying the next generation of Fergusons. But because you love Lucas, and he loves you. That's what really matters."

I felt tears pricking at my eyes, damn pregnancy hormones. "Thank you, Emily. I didn't realize how much I needed to hear that."

She got closer and kissed me on the cheek, or something like that. "Anytime sweetie," And by 'anytime' she meant, 'Don't hesitate to call me if you ever need someone to talk to. "Us Ferguson women need to support each other" she would add.

I smiled and caught a tear that rolled down my cheek. "That would be nice. It would be great knowing that I can always run to someone acquainted with this insane family of ours."
