Sweet Grandpa

Coming back inside, Joshua went directly to his room. He was being grumpy and decided to go out for a while to lighten up his mood. He chose a light blue shirt to wear when suddenly the door of his room got flung open.

"Ahhh!" He heard a scream from behind, and when he turned around, his eyes fell on Claire standing there while covering her both eyes.

"What are you doing?" Claire asked as she peered through her fingers.

Her eyes fell on the well-built man standing in front of her. His wide chest was on full display. Joshua was caught off guard; his chest rose and fell with each breath. She couldn't help but gaze at his perfectly toned physique. As her eyes trailed down,

"Changing my clothes? But what are you doing here?" Joshua asked, picking up the shirt and putting it on.

Claire removed her hands from her eyes when she was sure that Joshua was completely dressed again before she said, "Ah well, the maid told me that all of my stuff has been transferred into this room."

"Huh? Why?"

"I don't know. I asked her, and she said it was the master's order." Claire said.

Joshua thought for a while before rumbling, "Grandpa!"

He heaved a huge sigh before again continuing, "I am sure it must be grandpa, and he won't let us off the hook until he sees us together in a room."

Claire stayed quiet, not knowing how to react to the situation, and seeing that Joshua added, "I know you must be thinking of taking this opportunity to your benefit, but let me make this clear: even if you were to stay in my room, we would be maintaining a distance. Don't interfere with any of my business; I don't like useless interference. Plus, I would sleep on my bed like I used to, and you would take that couch over there."

As soon as he was done saying that, Claire rolled her eyes and mumbled, "Not like I was expecting something better from you."

"I heard that," he snapped back at her.

She rolled her eyes and ignored him before going to the wardrobe.

Who does she think she is? So arrogant!'

Soon, Joshua went out of the room.

Claire, too, changed her clothes and got out of the wardrobe when she heard a knock on the door.

"Come in!"

Ann entered inside and bowed her head a little with respect before saying, "Miss, everyone is waiting for you at the dining table. Let me escort you to the dining hall."

Turning around, Claire smiled a little. "Didn't I tell you to just call me Claire? No need to be so formal."

"I am sorry, but it's the young master's order."

'Since when did that guy like to be so cheeky about my matters?'

"Sure, let's go!" Claire replied before moving out of the room with her.

Both of them went down the stairs and into the dining room. Entering inside, her eyes fell on the old man sitting on the chair, and immediately her face lifted up, and a huge smile appeared on her face.

Joshua was also sitting beside the old man, and seeing Claire, he was shocked for a moment.

'This girl knows how to smile, too?'

From the moment she arrived, he hadn't seen her smile or even talk to him politely. She had that calm look on her face, showing that she didn't care much about anything, and her calmness on every matter was annoying to him.

Claire stepped forward and greeted him, "Uncle Trevor! It's wonderful to have you here."

Trevor too smiled back at her, "My child! I am good. How have you been? And you should stop calling me Uncle now; call me Grandpa now, just like Joshua."

"Sure, grandpa, as you say." Claire replied and pulled out a chair beside Joshua.

But just as she was about to sit down, she heard Joshua say, "Great acting."

Ignoring him, she sat down in the chair. Ann served her spaghetti and stepped back.

She was just about to take a bite when she heard grandpa say, "When can I expect a grandson now?"

Hearing this, Claire choked on her food, while Joshua remained calm, like he was expecting this.

Trevor continued, saying, "I am already too old now. I want to see a grandson or granddaughter soon before I die."

"You will get them soon. I will make sure of it." Joshua said it with a calm expression on his face.

Claire gasped at his reply.

"Good! Good! Then I will leave you a couple to be, but remember, there is a banquet tomorrow night, so you would have to come." Trevor said, smiling at Claire.

But when his gaze turned towards Joshua, he narrowed his eyes and said, "And you! Take her to buy a dress for tomorrow."

"I will take her tomorrow." Joshua responded.

"No! You're going to take her somewhere now! You just got married and didn't even go anywhere on your honeymoon. You should spend more time together and get to know each other better."

Before Trevor could say anything further, Claire added, "It's okay, grandpa. I already have something to wear for tomorrow's banquet."

Trevor stomped his stick harshly on the ground two times before he yelled, "No! You both will go now."

"Fine!" Joshua answered and got up from his seat.

He turned around to look at Claire and said, "I am waiting for you in the car."

Without bothering to look back even once again, he dragged his foot and went out of there while Claire still sat there, not knowing what to do.

"Go, my child." Trevor said.

With that, she got up and went out, only to see Joshua already sitting in the car. She sat down on the passenger seat, and just as she was putting on the seat belt, she heard Joshua say, "Don't think you have won. I am only doing this for grandpa's sake."

With that, they drove off.
