"Mmm!" Her face cringed as she felt something strange.
Automatically, her hand lifted to her head, burying her fingers into her hair until she could press on her throbbing skull. But it barely gave her relief.
Finally, she became more aware of her surroundings as her consciousness gradually returned. But her brain was still foggy as she struggled to remember what happened.
"Huh!" What the hell was that? She believed she heard something clash on something hard.
Then, it dawned on her. It sounded like a door opening and closing, immediately followed by movements, specifically footsteps.
A chill spread across her spine as fear crept inside her mind. Typically, nothing easily frightened her. But, under the circumstances, she guessed this was an exception. Besides, she was not exactly in her element.
