He thought nothing could match the thrill he achieved from doing his extreme activities. But he had never felt more fulfilled than knowing Jules was safe. Protecting her seemed to have its distinctive excitement.
With the assistance of the other man, her body slowly lowered down until she landed gently on his arms. Then, after a few steps, he had her sitting on the empty bench.
"Thanks," Jules whispered as she evened her breathing.
He could still feel her body trembling, but it was less and less as the seconds ticked by. It was a sign that she had calmed down.
"No need to thank me. But I am proud of you for doing something that was obviously out of your comfort zone." He believed no one should live in a sheltered life.
He had made that mistake before with his brother. He had enabled him too much. Instead of helping him stand on his feet and overcome his fear, he protected and gave him everything he needed.
