Spending the night

"We need to keep running Nate! Don't slow down!"

"Why!?"

"Just run!"

The moment Eric finished they could hear a small rumble and before they knew it a shadow almost as tall as Nate came running up behind them.

"Eric! There's a pig running with us!"

"With us!?" Eric yelled as he turned his head to take a peek. "He's probably the thing that plant spit out!"

When the boar saw the humans look at him he snorted and continued to run up next to them.

"As long as he's not attacking us who cares!"

Just as the boar caught up, they could hear an even deeper rumbling from behind them. Needless to say, it was the Carnivorous plant bulb, and it was angry.

"Holy SHIT! That thing can run!?" Nate exclaimed as he looked back at the creature approaching them.

"You're gonna fall dumb ass, turn around!"

The giant plant was catching up at an alarming rate and it was starting to launch ranged attacks.

Whoosh-

Whoosh, Whoosh-

"Screech! Scree! Screee!!"

"Run faster meatball!"

"Eric, I can see the fire!"

"We're almost there!"

"Just a little more!"

"Aaand-"

"Ragghhh!!" The boys screamed in unison as they leaped into the barrier.

At the same time however the pig ran smack into it, and bounced off, while the plant closed the distance.

Donggg-

"Squee!"

"The pig couldn't get in! What do we do!?"

"You wanna save him?"

"Why not man? He's tryin to get away from that crazy plant thing too!"

"Alright, alright. The monkey got in, so we should just have to touch it!"

Just as the boys grabbed the boar, they watched the Carnivorous plant bulb while it lunged at them with all it's might.

"Pull!" Eric yelled as they yanked on the overgrown pig.

DONGGG~

The sound echoed for a moment, but this time, it was the Carnivorous plant bulb that ran into the barrier. Infact it hit so hard it got stuck and had little splatter marks around it's body.

"Phew!" Eric let out a sigh of relief once he realized the plant was still on the outside. If it managed to even graze them, with the right timing, it could've broken into the barrier and slaughtered them all.

"Haha! We did it!" Nate yelled as he looked at the ginormous pig before them.

When the boar opened it's eyes and realized it was safe he looked around before trotting straight over to the fire and plopping down next to it.

After carrying the monkey over to the fire and taking a better look at the two creatures next him in the light, Eric finally got an information panel.

{Description: A creature that helps others do things for a price. If you can manage to indebt one of these monkeys to you and demonstrate your strength they'll be extremely loyal until they've payed you back in full. After repaying any debt they may have, they return to their troop for new orders from the boss.

"Their info panels say this big bastard here is called a Buffalo boar, and the thing we heard screaming before is called a Soldier monkey."

"Woooah." Nate said as he admired the boar. "He's huge, but what kind of buffalo has horns like that?"

"Look at his tusks too, they're kinda rounded don't you think? Maybe he's still growing"

After some more talk about the Boars appearance the boys decided to make a second fire on the other side of a few bushes.

"Well Nate." Eric said as he put his hood on. "If everything goes well, I'll see you in the morning."

"Are you sure we can just let them be?"

"Why not? The pig's grateful to us for saving him and the monkey should be able to put one and two together when it wakes up."

"I don't know.."

"Worst case, something happens because of the monkey, but we're close enough to the barrier we should be able to get away."

"Will it keep them inside if we have to leave?"

"Hopefully we won't have to find out."

With that the boys got as comfortable as possible and drifted off to sleep for the rest of the night.

...

The next morning the Soldier monkey woke up with a killer headache and a small case of amnesia.

"Uwah?"

'What the heck?'

'Why does my head hurt so bad?'

When he noticed a ginormous ball of scruff laying next him however he screamed in terror and jumped backward.

"Ahh!"

'Woah!'

'Phew, it's just the boar.'

Sniff, Sniff-

'What's that smell?'

Just then the monkey realized his feet were burning and he jumped backward again.

'Ow, ow, ow!'

When the Buffalo boar heard the monkey yelling he jumped up and looked around until he saw saw him sitting on the ground patting the bottom of his feet and snorted.

"Hmph, hmph."

'Hahaha'

When the Soldier monkey saw the pigs face he seemed to have remembered something.

'Hey! You owe me, don't you!?'

'Yeah, yeah, I know.'

'Ha, I knew it!'

'You forgot?'

'No! I never forget a debt owed to me.' The monkey said solemnly as he put his hand on his chest.

'Wait, I thought you died pig?'

'Nope.' The boar said as he trotted in place, as if to show his good health.

'So what happened to the plant?'

'He ran away.'

'What!? When?'

'After you got knocked out I guess.'

'Cmon pig just tell me what happened!'

'Well..'

After listening to the boars story the monkey walked over to the bushes the boys were still sleeping behind and went straight to Eric before stopping to stand over him and investigate.

The moment he felt something touch his hair Eric shot up from his sleep. Unfortunately he didn't know the Debt monkey was standing over him and they smashed their heads together.

Thunk-

"Owww."

"Wahh." The two of them completely as they rubbed their foreheads.
