The cars had already started racing and I barely was ready. I didn't even have my binoculars or camera out to capture this moment.
Sometimes getting deep in thought, or lost in it, isn't always a good thing. Especially when a race is happening.
I grab out my binoculars and watch both cars each go head to head. As the Subaru passes the supra in the second lap, both cars really start racing like their life depends on it.
And they should probably go faster since I can already hear sirens. Police sirens.
There's three laps, two already done and one to go. From my point of view, it was difficult to see which car was in first place.
"Who's winning? I can barely see anything." announced Blaze.
"Same, both cars are like right at the edge." Delilah declared.
At least I wasn't the only one who couldn't see who was winning. We could all suffer together. Ha.
"How can you not see who's winning, Blaze? You literally have a pair of binoculars and eyes to see them through." Parker teased with a smirk all over his face.
Delilah and Lilith tried to keep their mouths shut from bursting out into laughter as Blaze glared at Parker. Aiden didn't even try to hold it in, he bursted out laughing.
I, being a person who never really smiles or laughs, knew not to say anything. Blaze could roundhouse kick their ass if she wanted to, I wouldn't even be surprised if she could.
"I thought I was going to be the one to say that." Aiden said through laughs that turned into wheezes.
Blaze grunted. "Shut it before I saw off your little dicks and staple them to your forehead." Blaze says through gritted teeth.
Blaze was unpredictable. I'm not going to sit here and say she wouldn't do that, believe me she could if she felt like it.
Parker put his hands up in defeat as he started laughing. Blaze said and did nothing, but respond to him with an eye roll. I shook my head.
"Guys, were here to watch a race. Not watch Blaze demolish what's left of your organisms," I start, putting my focus and gaze on Parker and then turning my head to the right as I stare at Aiden.
"Let's focus on why we're here."
Everyone nods in reply as we all put our focus on why we're here. To watch a race. I'm surprised the cars hadn't already finished by the time my friends and I actually started focusing on the race. But they were close.
Head to head, Subaru looked as if they were going to win, but as soon as they get close to the finishing line the red supra takes the lead and wins the race,
Everyone starts cheering as both racers drive back to the crowds. I quickly put my binoculars away to start cheering, but realize I didn't have too since everyone already had stopped. Or so I thought.
Both races come out and everyone starts to cheer, but louder and crazier. I was waiting to bolt out of there because of the police, but there was no sign of them. Yet.
"Well that's game." Aiden says as he pulls me by my arm.
I roll my eyes. "I can walk myself."
"Don't care, cupcake."
I had always hated nicknames boyfriends gave to their girlfriends. Always. Not that Aiden and I were a couple, far from it. At least, that's what I think he knows. Platonic, nothing more nothing less.
It's just, most of the nicknames sucked and were cheesy and definitely overrated. Princess and cupcake were on the list of my least favorites. I'm neither of those and never want to be called either, but leave it to optimistic Aiden to crush my patience.
I groaned, not realizing I did or meant to. It's just natural. "Aiden, I hate nicknames. Especially those nicknames. You know that above all people."
He chuckles. "I know, but you'll always be my princess."
Most girls would have liked to hear that, most would have started blushing or started fangirling. But that just made me more uncomfortable than I already am.
Hi. You probably already noticed, but I'm-not-like-the-other-guys. No one ever uses guys, so why not make it a trend. It's always I'm-not-like-the-other-girls and I've been waiting my whole life to hear someone say guys instead of girls. Might as well be me.
I fake smile, making it as obvious as possible I didn't like that last sentence of his, but Aiden is oblivious. Wonderful.
We start walking away from our friends, but I notice they're talking to someone. And by they're I mean Blaze and Parker, and by someone I mean one of the racers. Probably red supra, I tell myself.
I stop walking, making Aiden almost fall, and pull my arm away as I now forcefully pull him towards Parker and Blaze, where I believe they are. He uses the arm I was pulling and entangles that hand with my hand and I swallow hard.
I didn't know whether I liked holding hands with Aiden or not. Actually yeah I know, don't like it. I attempt to pull my hand away, but since he uses the "waffle" style he practically squeezed my hand shut. If that even makes any sense.
Man, I was going to have a major hand cramp later on.
We walk towards Parker and Blaze and see they are talking to someone. Delilah and Lilith weren't talking to them, they were just observing.
I couldn't tell whether Blaze was fangirling over the person she was talking to, but I could tell Parker was getting a bit protective when he wrapped his arm around Blaze. Claiming her, giving gestures to the person she was talking to that she's his property.
We all knew how Parker felt towards Blaze. He obviously likes her and even Blaze knows that, but Blaze isnt the type that likes relationships. That's what I like about our friendship. We both neither have a thing for relationships.
They were a waste of time, inconsequential in my opinion. They start off being absolutely perfect then everything crashes down hill like a car accident. It hits you and you realize maybe next time you will focus on the road instead of looking at your phone.
Most relationships end with someone leaving and to me I didn't want to go through that. So I preferred to distance myself from relationships. Besides, I wasn't exactly girlfriend material.
I was that friend that broke the rules and tried to be your Therapist and help you when you were stressed when deep down I needed a therapist of my own to tell me things we're okay, even when they weren't. You know? The "I'm fine" friend.
Either way, I was not built physical or personality wise to be a girlfriend or wife or anything along those lines. I was just made to be someone's walking stick and pretty much a ragdoll to my parents.
But I can suck it up, and I have been since the day I was told to be perfect.
"Guys, come on. Are we leaving or not?" I asked annoyed, walking towards them.
Blaze and Parker turned around and I was surprised to see Parker's arm still wrapped around Blaze's figure.
I thought by after two seconds of Parker showing protection she would have gotten out of his hold, but my mind pushed the thought aside.
"Well I was just congratulating Mr. Hart on winning the race." Blaze motioned to the guy behind her which I couldn't see.
"And it takes like ten minutes to say the word congratulations?" I raised an eyebrow.
Blaze nodded teasingly and Parker shrugged.
"She insisted we'd congratulate him." he said, with a hint of laughter.
"Mmhh."
I crossed my arms, folding them. I kept glancing at the distant boundary they both lacked while Parker's arm still was wrapped around, comfortably. I didn't know why I cared so much about it, but I knew something was up.
Blaze rejects affection of any sort.
I knew her better than anyone, even her parents. Being the skeptical person I was, I kept my focus on Parker's arm.
"Hm." I hummed as I continued staring at his arm and finally they got the memo.
Parker immediately started pulling his arm away with a flushed red embarrassed face, and they both stepped a few inches away from each other, providing space.
Blaze held no emotion on her face, she was one of the hardest people to read. While Parker practically had it written all over his face. You could have a tomato or ketchup all over his cheeks and I'd still know whether that was blush or food.
I rolled my eyes as I began to open my mouth, but no words started coming out. It took me a while to realize what was up.
Blaze had moved out of the way to reveal a very dashing and handsome dark chocolate haired guy with the most breathtaking pair of hazel eyes, more on the green color side, I had ever seen in my life.
And I've always been a person to love Hazel eyes mixed with a nice dark brown. The guy raises an eyebrow when he sees that I'm checking him out.
He folds his arms around his chest and says four words that make embarrassment flood through out my face.
"Done gawking at me?"
