*Dotting Eyes*

I met him at a hospital. He sat there, as still as a statue, unblinking. Later on, he told me that it is normal for him not to move very often. He likes to listen to the world around him. He lets his senses guide him. His eyes remind me of the sky on a cloudy day and his gaze is always a little to intense for my liking. His face is always so still and unmoved, so when he smiles, it's really nice to see. His voice is deep yet so soft and quiet. Everyone knows him. He walks around town with his head down and his hands in his pockets. No words are exchanged when he sees his neighbors or anyone from high school or college. He is tall, muscular, and very attractive. He is blind. And out of the 348 residents in our community, I am one of only a few people that he talks to. *Mature content*

{Chapter 7}

We are both silent as we walk towards the kitchen.

I roll my eyes as he plops down in my favorite chair and spins around.

"It's nice to see that you've made yourself at home."

I say sarcastically, moving around to tidy up a bit.

I didn't think I'd have any visitors today, I would have cleaned up before I left the house.

"Oh, yes. You have a very lovely home, sugar."

He sighs, resting his elbows on the countertop.

A shiver runs down my spine.

Sugar.

I've never been called sugar before.

It leaves me feeling all tingly.

"Thanks."

I say quietly.

Silence.

"Tiara, you've got to have more self confidence."

He clears his throat.

I immediately groan.

"I'm not about to have this talk with you out of all people."

I scoff, blushing at just the thought.

I don't need a damn life coach.

Especially not one so attractive.

"My friend told me you were gorgeous. That you have very dark and pretty eyes. That's all I allowed her to tell me. I wanted to know."

He hesitates to say.

"I want you to tell me the rest."

I scowl.

"Why should it even matter? It shouldn't matter how your friend looks. Isn't the point of friendship to accept somebody for who they are? Aint it about the personality?"

I rant, folding my arms.

He doesn't say anything.

"Right. Nice talk."

I mutter, waving him off.

"You have quite the temper, Tiara. I've got to say, it's quite amusing."

He comments.

Then he has the audacity to smirk.

Like who the hell does his sexy ass think he is, smirking at me like that?

I feel my face get all hot.

"Well I'm glad that you think it's funny. Get out of my apartment."

I demand.

He stands up with a loud sigh.

"Why are you mad because I'm curious? You have no idea what it's like to meet new people and not be able to see them."

He says quietly.

Now I'm the one who is silent.

He has a point there.

There is awkward silence.

He sighs again.

"Look, I promised the kid ice cream."

He says, brushing past me.

I just stand there and scowl.

Because he's right and I'm wrong.

And I feel bad for getting mad.

{Quîncy}

"There you go, lîttle buddy."

Î coo, handîng Puck one of hîs favorîte îced watermelon stîcks.

Î dîdn't want hîm to feel left out whîle we ate îce cream so Î pîcked up a couple on the way over here.

Tîara has been sîlent the whole walk.

Ollîe swîngs our connected hands back and forth absentmîndedly as he drones on about hîs class.

Î have never really thought about kîds but Î now thînk that Î'd maybe lîke to have one.

Though ît would be paînful to not see my lîttle boy or gîrl.

Î have to keep that în mînd.

Î get sad just thînkîng about ît.

How my lîfe îs not goîng to be lîke everyone else's.

Î hate ît but Î can't help the way Î was born.

Î stop as soon as Î feel a soft hand on my back.

Ît feels lîke a jolt of electrîcîty shoots through me.

"Puck, you're not doîng your job."

Her voîce îs lîke meltîng chocolate în my ear.

Lîke a soft sîlk blanket wrapped around my braîn.

Eww, where the hell dîd that thought come from?

Puck protests, hoppîng off my shoulder.

"Sîlly monkey."

Ollîe laughs.

Î try not to melt înt a puddle of glee as she grabs my arm, her haîr tîcklîng my bîcep.

"You are a tîny woman."

Î say quîetly.

"Boy, shut up. Î am 5'6, that's not tîny at all. We can't all be gîant supermodels lîke you."

She scoffs.

Î try not to smîrk.

"Ah, ît has fînally slîpped. You thînk Î'm a sexy man."

Î tease.

"Those words dîdn't even come close to the ones Î saîd."

She laughs.

"You are very muscly though."

She adds, pattîng my arm.

"Got to keep the ladîes satîsfîed."

Î drawl.

Sîlence.

Î roll my eyes.

"That was a joke."

"Î know what a joke îs, dummy."

She grumbles.

We stop în front of the îce cream shop.

Î've been goîng here for years, Î love the rocky mountaîn berry blast.

"After you, my lady."

Î say, opening the door for her.

"Thanks."

"You guys go ahead and order, Î'm going to the bathroom."

She tells me.

Only a second later, Î feel somethîng soft press up agaînst my cheek.

Her hand.

Î lîke ît when she touches me.

"You're a bîg baby, you know that?"

She laughs a lîttle.

"Hmm."

Î hum a lîttle, leanîng înto her touch.

Î haven't had my cheek caressed sînce Î was a small chîld.

She pulls away too quîckly for my lîkîng.

"What? You had somethîng on your face."

Î feel my cheeks heat up.

Î'm sîttîng over here droolîng lîke a fool.

Î'm really startîng to scare me.

"Huh? Oh okay. Thank you."

I hurry to say.

Jesus Christ, what is happening to me?

Î sîgh as Jenny corners me by the bathroom.

"What do you want from me?"

Î groan, clîckîng my teeth.

Puck comes scramblîng up my leg.

"Î want to meet her."

She însîsts.

Î wînce.

Î shouldn't have been talkîng about her so much but Î just can't help ît.

Tîara îs so amazîng to be around, Î had such a good tîme at the îce cream shop.

Î can't help but smîle just thînkîng about how much Î made her laugh.

She has such a pretty laugh.

"Helloo? Are you lîstenîng to me?"

Î scowl as she waves her hand în front of my face.

She knows Î hate that.

Î slap her hand away.

"Stop that. And no, you'll scare her away. Can Î go on my walk now or are you goîng to keep blockîng the way?"

Î fold my arms.

"No Î wont! Î know how to be nîce."

She însîsts.

Î think back to my frîend Brent.

She scared hîm away wîth her stupîd lady parts.

And Francîne.

Let me not even get started.

"Î already know you're thînkîng about Francîne. That bîtch was tryîng to replace me!"

She reads my mînd.

"Jenny darlîng, nobody could ever replace you."

Î soothe.

"Now move so Î can go on my daîly walk. Puck needs some aîr."

He hoots hîs agreement.

She sîghs.

Î stîck în my aîrpods to block out the sîlence of the dark nîght.

Î absolutely love takîng a stroll în the dark.

Although ît îs a bît îrresponsîble, Î always feel better at nîght.

Nobody îs ever out anyway.

Nobody worth beîng suspîcîous over anyway.

Puck gnaws on one of hîs fruît stîcks, oblîvîous to everythîng.

He always comes along for the rîde.

Î love him so much, he's such a good companîon.

Î know Î get weîrd stares from people because of hîm.

Î can feel them on my back.

But Î'd rather get those kînd of stares rather than the pîty ones Î'd get îf Î had a guîde dog.

Î just want to be accepted as the way Î am, not vîewed as some pîty case.

Î stuff my hands înto my pockets and hum along to my musîc quîetly, my mînd wanderîng as Î stroll down the empty park.

Tîara.

Î can't get her out of my head and Î thînk ît's weîrd that Î can't stop smîlîng whenever Î thînk of her laugh.

Ît was pretty great.

Î lîck my lîps, foldîng my arms around myself as the wînd pîcks up.

"Puck, old buddy."

Î sîgh, stoppîng at a bench.

"Î'm very happy wîth my lîfe at the moment."

Î mutter, clîckîng my teeth softly.

He hops down reluctantly, scamperîng away.

He always gets embarrassed to do hîs busîness even though he knows Î can't see hîm.

He lîkes to go behînd trees.

Î only know because Î always hear the bîrds flutter around as they leave.

Î turn the volume up on my phone, îgnorîng hîs lîttle hoots.

He's always so verbal at nîght.

"Go ahead and take your tîme, we don't have anywhere to be."

Î sîgh, runnîng my fîngers through my haîr.

As ît turns out, we do have somewhere to be.

As soon as Î open the door, Î hear a very famîlîar voîce.

"-es, he's pretty funny. Î dîdn't know he used to be such a lîttle cutîe pîe. Oh look at hîs lîttle ears."

Î slam the door behînd me.

"Oh! There you are-"

"Tîara, why are you here?"

Î growl, glarîng.

Î just know Jenny îs smîrkîng.

"Well Î was în the neîghborhood so Î decîded to drop off some cookîes."

Her soothîng voîce îs musîc to my ears.

Though Î know she îs lyîng.

She's always în the neîghborhood, she lîves in the neîghborhood!

When Î dont say anythîng, Puck scrambles down to say hîs hellos.

"Hî, baby. Oh, îsn't he just the cutest?"

Î hear her praîse.

"Just the cutest."

Jenny gloats.

Î glare at her.

My glare falters after just a second thought when Î feel a paîr of arms wrap around my stomach.

"Î was just stoppîng by. You look tîred, you should get some sleep."

Hugs.

Î wrap my arms around her slowly.

"Aww, Quîncy can she stay? She's so nîce."

Jenny groans.

"She's not a damn dog, Jen. Î'll see you later."

Î grunt, my eyes flutterîng closed.

She gîves good hugs.

"Call me when you get home."

Î whîsper before pullîng away.

"Sure, sweetîe."

She pats my cheek.

"Bye, ît was very nîce to meet you, Jennîfer. Enjoy the cookîes."

"Î hate you."

Î growl as soon as the door closes.
