Basketball Tryout

Days passed quickly. The first day of school arrived so the maids helped with the preparation for Xavier and Amanda. Xavier wore the academy's uniform which is composed of a tie and a blue coat while his little sister had a cute uniform dress.

They were both ready for the first day of school.

These past days, the system was really quiet. Was it spending all that money that he scammed from him for a trip to the Bahamas? Xavier joked on his and in fact, he didn't really want to know what the system was doing. They both benefited from this connection anyway.

Ding.

Xavier heard a familiar tone.

[Today is the day that you will claim the results of your stock trading.]

The system reminded him of his investment about two weeks ago. This remark made Xavier's eyes twitch. I thought this system was only interested in money that has nine zeros in it?!

Ding.

[Nine digits are still acceptable.]

Xavier ignored the system as he looked at the graph on his phone and his memory served him right as the price of each stock increased by tenfold. Using his smartphone and the account of his company, he sold the stocks he was currently on hold with as the price dropped from being tenfold to only around six times the price two weeks ago.

The funds entered the company's card and the previous amount of almost eight hundred million dollars became more than nine hundred million dollars. The amount was close to the company's funds when it started. Adding the almost one million bcoins he purchased, he profited a lot with his knowledge of the past.

Xavier went down the stairs and walked toward the dining room. Eating breakfast before going to school was important and this gave their mind a boost that they will need. Though, first days were mostly for choosing a club or a team that a student wants to be in.

He noticed that his father was all smiles today as he recalled this all started after the training with the NBA coach. Perhaps Chris had praised him a lot in front of his father. It was evident on Charles' face that he is very proud.

They finished their meals and outside the mansion, two luxury cars were parked. The other one was for his mother and father while the second one would be for Xavier and Amanda. The two cars both drove away from the mansion and went their separate ways when they arrived at an intersection.

"Young master, we will be going to your school first." The driver looked through the mirror.

Xavier agreed and nodded as this was his parents' instructions. Leaving Amanda alone in grade school would cause them to panic. As such, they would instruct one butler or driver to wait outside the school for their precious daughter.

At a distance, one of the buildings of Lincoln Star Academy could be seen and his little sister's eyes shone as she looked at it. "Brother, your school is huge!"

Truthfully, Lincoln Star Academy was one of the largest middle schools in the world according to land area. The facilities for learning could be said to be world-class and the sports facilities were also top-notch despite their teams being subpar. This was also the academy that Xavier attended in his previous life. It was also in this middle school that he was teased a lot.

He felt layers of unsettling emotions before he patted his little sister's head. "You would be attending this school in the future, too."

Amanda's face lit up as she excitedly popped a question. "Will I be attending the same school with you again?"

Xavier could not help but chuckle. "We will see."

Middle school was only for three years and the gap between him and his little sister was four years. It would be impossible for them to attend the same school together even in high school.

The luxury car approached the tall metal gate that had a guard stationed outside. Seeing the car, the guard immediately opened and made way for it to enter.

The academy's campus was really huge but the student population could not cope up with it because their admission requirements were really strict excluding the difficulty of the entrance exam.

Xavier could only be satisfied with his old self for being able to pass this exam without any help. He went out of the luxury car and his uniform added to the aura he emitted. He became a head-turner to the girls passing by.

He had the same half-up hairstyle when he got to an accident and his eyes were like that of a phoenix. People around started to gossip as to who this rich person is. They looked at the luxury car he was previously in.

The blue luxury car was called Rolls Royce Ghost Diva that was worth three million dollars! Although few people attending here were sons and daughters of elite businessmen, most of the students were actually under a scholarship because the state owned this academy. Thus, they wanted to give the best education to those with the best potential.

There were a few car enthusiasts among the parents that brought their children here and speculated that this car is different from the Ghost Diva. It would be safe to assume that this is actually customized.

Xavier was used to the looks that he would get whenever he went out of luxury cars but the reason his dad loved this car was because of the safety features. His father only wanted the best for his family's safety.

In fact, he was secretly teased and gossiped about because many students were jealous of his family. They were rich and he was ranked first in the entire academy.

Xavier only heaved a sigh, a restart for his emotions. He wanted to dismiss all the negative energy and put on a smile. He wanted to see the clubs that are recruiting.

With the basketball booth being conspicuous, Xavier approached the booth to inquire. He saw them already trying to pack up the papers. "Hello, I am interested in the tryout."

"You are in luck as it will start much earlier than expected. Please come with me." The burly kid, who looked like a varsity player, continued to clean up the booth.

Xavier was stunned as to why the tryout would start much early since it had only been an hour when the booths had been here. One possibility could be that the coach had another appointment.

He followed the person to the basketball gym and he saw a few people for the tryouts. In this academy, only a few people were interested in sports and there were different sports teams. This was already quite normal.

The coach gathered the students who wanted to tryout and asked them to change immediately. There were already jerseys prepared for this tryout and the academy paid for these expenses. All of the students including Xavier proceeded to the changing rooms.

Many people saw the muscle that was hiding underneath Xavier's coat before. At first, he didn't look like someone who would exercise but the intense specialized training given to him and the attributes made his body change drastically.

The coach had a good impression of some of the students' build as well as Xavier's.

In most tryouts, the coach would focus on the work ethic of the players. How they listened to the instructions given to him could be the decisive factor. Coaches could not be impressed with unnecessary dribbles or fancy shots. They would scout for efficiency in attacking and defending.

For middle school basketball teams, a normal procedure was to make two teams. They would then have one game of basketball. This was a faster way for the coach to see the players' traits on the court.

Luckily, there were already ten people here and it was enough to have a game. The coach instructed them that it would only be for twelve minutes because there were still things the basketball team needed to do.

Xavier noticed the tension with the coach and the varsity players present in the court. Was there something wrong?

As a CEO of the Zero Group before, his eyes had been trained to notice different behaviors and emotions of his employees. This helped him find moles of other companies or people who were having difficulties with their work.

Xavier shook his head and minded his own business. The goal for now was to enter the basketball team. If not, it would be difficult for him to enter the professional league in the future. Most scouts would check at their records during middle school and high school.

All of the players were in position.

Prrt. A high-pitched airy sound resonated in the court.

The coach blew the whistle as an official start of the game. The ball was thrown up in the air and the centers jumped toward it. The center from Xavier's group was the one who tapped the ball and Xavier was able to catch it.

Xavier saw an opportunity and rushed to the ring. With only a few dribbles, he effectively left the player guarding him and he made a mid-range shot.

The whole court had been covered in silence as they tried to understand what just happened. The coach and the varsity players looked at each other with disbelief.

Is this guy really just a newbie?
