"Get away from me!" Phillip screamed.
"[Air Blast]!"
Visible pockets of air shot out of Phillip's hands.
Each of them was accompanied by a powerful shockwave that forced sand into most of the audience's eyes.
Unfortunately, that included his own.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING? RUN!" Helix yelled.
He started running immediately.
"GYARRRRRRRRRAAAAH!"
In the chaos, no one processed he was running [toward] the Kaltrop.
They were panicking and running with the scene to their backs.
"AGGGGHHHHHHH! HELP ME!"
Phillip screamed as he shot lethal pockets of air out of his hand.
Unfortunately, the air bullets barely left ripples on the monster's scales.
The Knights were horrified by the mind-blowing and reactive illusion showcasing human inferiority.
A shockwave hit Helix and flung him to the ground away from Phillip.
"Fuck!" Helix cursed under his breath.
"This is exactly why this skill is so fucking dangerous!
People panic then start firing and swinging death in all directions!"
Helix got up off the ground.
"How many seconds has it been?
This thing could disappear any second now!"
Helix charged forward again.
He threw himself on the ground in anticipation of the next blast.
While he avoided getting knocked over, the troubles stacked up.
His face smashed into the ground when he fell because the swords stuck into the ground for a moment, and he tripped.
The period between him yelling [run] and hitting the ground again was three seconds.
Everything was happening so fast that even Macron was shocked.
Just as he unsheathed his sword and was about to yell attack, he saw Helix fly six feet through the area.
Contrary to common sense, Helix had run toward the Kaltrop.
He was so close to Phillip that a shockwave hit him from an air bullet.
Suddenly he had a flash of realization.
—
"Just pray that what comes out of the abyss isn't too bad.
And if it gets out of control, please protect the students from it."
—
Macron shot to the other side of Helix in an instant.
His movements left after-images in their wake.
"Stop firing air bullets! You almost killed your teammates!" Macron roared.
Macron sliced at the Kaltrop.
To his shock, the beast dodged the attack with lightning speed.
"Boy! Get behind me!" Macron yelled.
"I don't know how I feel about my teacher helping me maim a student…." Helix whispered with a wry smile.
He quickly moved behind Macron and ran over to Phillip, who was frozen and shaking.
Helix winced with true anxiety.
The thought of hacking off a human limb was psychologically crippling.
However, he caught sight of Emelia.
The guard protecting her had left her side, and she was still sitting.
The young woman had her hands over her ears and her eyes closed tightly.
There was no way that her hands could block out the sounds from the Kaltrop.
"That… trust…." Helix muttered in true astonishment.
"I can't die and leave her!"
He was less than a meter away from Phillip, who still had his arm stretched out in horror.
Helix raised his sword and pointed it high toward the Kaltrop.
'Remember, cutting means nothing with his defense….' He thought.
Helix swung his sword at a 45-degree angle with every bit of strength he possessed.
He used the full weight of gravity and shut out the thought of the consequences.
"GAHHHHHHHHH! What the fuck!" Phillip screamed.
Helix felt a strong force and was flung backward.
He held onto the holy sword as if his life depended on it.
When he looked up, he saw Phillip's right arm was dangling from an inch of muscle.
Blood was gushing out at a frightening speed.
A traumatizing amount of terror washed over Helix when he saw the wound.
However, he knew it was time to grin and bear it.
"Stand down, Kaltrop!" Helix yelled.
Everyone still in the stadium stared at Helix with shock as the Kaltrop slowly backed away.
"Phillip! Do you want to surrender and lose your arm or lose your arm and get eaten!" Helix asked.
Phillip was in physical shock.
His body was bleeding out aggressively.
"Phillip! Surrender and live or have the most gruesome death imaginable!
Decide now! You have three seconds before this Kaltrop rips the flesh off your bones!"
"Kekekeke! GYARRRAHH!
Kekeke! GYARRAH!"
The Kaltrops narrowed his eyes at Phillip with murderous intent.
It shifted in its position, snorted, and sand blew over the ground.
"I-I… I-I…." Phillip stuttered.
"3!" Helix yelled angrily.
"2!"
"I surrender! I'm at your mercy!"
A red glow enveloped Phillip, and strange energy entered Helix's body.
His body was burning, and it was difficult to breathe.
"K-Kaltrop!" Helix yelled while falling on one knee.
"Get out of here.
You've done well!
Thank you for following the order not to kill anyone!" Helix said while coughing.
The Kaltrop walked up to Helix and rubbed the roof of its nostrils against Helix in support.
After that, the Kaltrops turned around and walked around the crowd of people.
When he was five meters away, it bent its legs and shot towards the wall with lightning speed.
Large guests of winds followed the running, covering up its footprints with sand.
Helix looked toward the sky with a wry smile.
"Is it over?" He muttered under his breath.
No one could hear his words over the yelling, shock, and confusion.
"If it is, I have something to say." Helix chuckled bitterly.
"Fuck you, Elise. Just wait until I break your nose and prove to Myriad I'm not a simp."
Helix smiled bitterly as his vision became hazy.
"Heeeeeeelix!" A female voice screamed between fast-paced footsteps.
"Haaaaaahhhh…." Helix chuckled.
"You were loyal when it mattered and then decided to open your eyes on your own." Helix whispered.
"You even called me by my name in public without formalities.
That makes me so hap—"
"No! Don't fall asleep! Helix!"
Helix shut his eyes and blacked out.
Marie, Charlotte, and Riley checked his pulse and then pulled her away to console her.
Seeing that Helix was okay, Macron rushed to Phillip to stop his bleeding.
"Listen up! You're all seriously lucky right now!" Macron roared.
The Knights turned to him in between sobs and terrified shakes.
"You've learned important lessons today!
First! While you're all terrified, no one got hurt except for Phillip.
And even though Helix was blackmailed into fighting, he still saved his attacker!
That's the type of person he is, so leave the poor kid alone!" He demanded with a narrowed gaze
Macron turned his head to view as many students as possible.
The super-otakus of both genders were emotional train wrecks.
"Second! You're watching me tie a tourniquet!
As you can see, Phillip will die if I don't do this!
Monsters dissolve, but humans and normal animals do not!
They bleed out and die!
Phillip's arm is never coming back!
Look at what you wished for!
This scene is what you were excited about an hour ago!
What you're watching is the outcome of this game you think you're playing!
Know this! While I'm desperately trying to save Phillip, he deserves to die!
That sounds cold, but the nature of what you just asked for!
When you enter a death match, it's expected that someone will die!
Helix is an idiot for letting him live because Phillip wouldn't have done the same!
Welcome to Myriad! I hope you're enjoying your video game!" Macron yelled angrily.
The students were terrified and vulnerable for the first time since arriving.
It finally sunk in that fighting monsters and using magic wasn't an exciting adventure without consequences.
Macron didn't have time to lecture his students, but if he didn't, they'd all die due to their disillusionment.
Macron ripped another section of his shirt off to put around the stump of Phillip's arm.
"Third! While that Kaltrop was three times the size of a real one, it was still a Kaltrop.
You're strong, but you'll realize you're not invincible after seeing Phillip's Nightmare bounce off that monster!
Myriad isn't a world where meditation can heal you!
The air doesn't prevent sickness!
There aren't treasures that will bring a limb back!
Myriad isn't a cultivator world, and it's not a goddamn video game!
How many of you will need to die before you get that!?" He yelled.
The Knights grimaced with shame-filled eyes.
"Lastly, and most importantly, you just learned why Helix can't train with you!
He just summoned a familiar and had no fucking clue what would show up!
If he didn't somehow learn how to communicate with that thing, it would have killed everyone here!" Macron asked with burning eyes.
"And I swear to god, if someone dares to call Helix's overpowered after this I'll rip their spine out and use it to whip my mistress!" He roared.
The students looked at him with confusion and shock.
"That's right! If I hear you rambling off your jealousy in front of me, I'll punish you ruthlessly.
I'm not talking about aggressive threats.
I'm talking about giving you a beating!
Why? Is it because I'm in love with Helix? NO!
Everyone could have suffered greatly because of your pettiness!
There wasn't a single person here that didn't hear that Helix's Nightmare was too dangerous to train with.
Yet the jealous people in this group forced Helix into a situation where he had to use it!
I'm not going to stand around and let the jealousy of some threaten the lives of everyone!
Your jealousy is dangerous, and therefore it's officially my problem!"
His students were having trouble processing what they were hearing.
"Now learn from your goddamn mistakes!
And consider thanking this boy right here!
Or if you're man enough, say sorry!
I don't view him as my son, and I'm not part of his fan club.
I'm fucking angry because he's been dealt the worst hand in Myriad history, and people are so jealous they keep trying to kill him!
Three people have tried to assassinate this kid in less than a month!
What the hell did this guy do to deserve death!?"
Is earth full of murderers!?
Is it common for people to kill people they don't like!?
Do you think having a law for fighting to the death makes killing people okay!?
What the hell is wrong with all of you!?"
Macron looked at every student in his range while keeping pressure on Phillip's arm.
His eyes were filled with pain.
"I don't care if you are a friend or an enemy of either of these boys.
Get the hell out of my sight!
You have tomorrow off. I expect you to spend that time reflecting on your barbarity!"
Macron looked at Helix, who was extremely pale and wheezing.
"Titus, get Elsa here now! Whatever's happening to Helix, it looks life-threatening!"
Titus saluted and ran away.
Emelia started bursting into tears again.
"H-Helix…." She cried in shock.
