When his uncle had extended an olive branch to Van, he was initially surprised. His cold-blooded and intimating uncle offering assistance to his friend made Benji pause in his judgment.

That revelation had flipped a switch in him, and without thinking, he jumped to take the chance to help Van, even though he did not know the whole story behind it.
