They couldn't handle the world. Most of them took their own life or sickness got the best of them. Either way Kurogane watched as he couldn’t do anything as one by one they all were all gone leaving him with just his mother. Yuki the mother of Kurogane saw as her kids were taken by this world leaving only Kurogane. Yuki was very protective over Kurogane, not leaving him out of her sight.
