"Mummy" I heard a little voice calling out while banging the door. "Mummy? I was surprised. "Charlotte, a child called you mummy, how come" I asked. "Oh, um, that's my niece. She came to stay with me for a holiday, but I forgot to tell you about it". She replied. "Why is she calling you 'mummy'?" I asked. "Her mother told her to call me mummy instead of aunty. She said I'm old enough to be her mother and that she shouldn't be calling me aunty," she replied. "Ok, go ahead and unlock the door and let her out," I said. Even though I trusted Charlotte, I couldn't help but feel that something wasn't quite right. Why would she lock the girl in a room and act like she was keeping a secret from me, especially after I'd just proposed to her. Something didn't add up, and I needed to get to the bottom of it.
