I don't think this is the case. The Five Elders stated that the Gum Gum fruit never came into their hands in 800 years, so Who's Who likely found it and was transporting it to the World Government but was ambushed by Shanks. So it was only temporarily in the Cipher Pols hands, but was snatched. It was never truly in their possession.
The current Rubber-Rubber Fruit should be in the possession of the Marines. I have my plans for that. Telling Naruto about the shadow clone sorting, is so he’d had more time for other things. Plus the MC didn’t even want to tell him about the bloodline either. He doesn’t want to deal with the scrutiny. Plus he has quite a bit of time before things get that far.

He's in the Boruto Era. The MC is 5 years older than Boruto and 16-17 years younger than Naruto.
