I’ll start with the good, chapter release is reliable. The world is interesting, seems like the bonding of beasts is quite recent and the procedures are mostly trial and error. Not every procedure is perfect yet. I have no real issues with the actual quality of the writing. What tanks the score is the character design and for one specific reason, character age. I went ahead with reading the book because it seemed like they wouldn’t be young for long. Only approximately 200-300 days have gone by since the start of the series. Ten year olds don’t act like this, it almost feels like you’re reading about teenagers, I could accept the MC acting differently due to his inherited knowledge, but this specifically pulls me out of the narrative. To me it also adversely affects the actual story development. The short of it, interesting take on a familiar bonding method, but if you don’t like stories with children characters that act outside what you’d expect in children then it’s best to skip. If you don’t mind the kid thing then this could be for you.
MC ever interact with family again and figure out why they did what they did? If so around when?
It’s rare that a book creates such disguste in me, it lies to you, it promises so much and just slaps you in the face. The First Legendary Beast Master actually delivers on these promises. A book where the MC bonds with beasts that are actually interesting.
Does the MC ever talk to his siblings or parents again? I think I read until about chapter 600ish. If he does, around what chapter?
Spoiler question from before chapter 1200 Does MC ever reconnect with his family, if so when?
This wizard only wants to take students 这个巫师只想带学生
I’ll keep this short, as I’m not very far in the book. The age of the characters is a very big issue for me, 8 year olds don’t act like that, shit sometimes 18 year old don’t act like these characters. The age really pulls you out of the narrative. I’m trying to slog through these chapters because the idea of the story seems interesting but I really do hate reading about children doing these types of things.
This book has been dropped, don’t waste coins. I don’t understand why it’s being translated
I’ve deleted my first review. I’ve taken some stars off due to the obvious similarities to RotSSG. As mentioned in my original review the similarities can take you out of the story. That being said having reread 1100ish chapters I’ve come to realize why this story is so superior. At the time of writing the first review I had just started rereading RSSG and that may have coloured my opinion. The author attempts to write more compelling characters in his story and while some characters seem analogous at first glance to characters in the older series, you quickly see that they are much deeper. The similarities are shallow in every aspect. As soon as you leave the shallows and actually dive into the series you realize that you actually have a story. At the moment we’ve not seen any lost plot point, where the older series kept recycling plot points this series has kept things fresh, the similarities don’t make it to the plot. In short if we are to compare both stories, this newer book has better characters, characters that feel real and have goals. It has yet to recycle any plot points, if it ever does. Though the pace might be slightly slower due to developing its characters and plot.
I’ve been waiting for a good story that centered around pets since I read Monster Intergration, I was so disappointed with that book and how it handled the choosing of the pets and how they evolved. This book does pets very well, the pets all have unique personalities, they are obviously part of the story and not just decorative. Important note, the tags mention R18 and Harem, they might be a mistake has we’ve not seen any evidence of them by the current chapter. The MC has a love interest and it makes sense, the other female characters are interesting on their own which is fresh. The power system is interesting and its history more so, the world background is being discovered has the story progresses and I’m enjoying the discovery. Until this chapter I had 4 stars on Writing Quality, Story and world, but couldn’t think of real issues that I have with the story that would have me reduce the score by a full star.
