Just because I know a 12 year old is fighting a war doesn’t mean i care much, but if I can see that 12 year old fighting he is no longer a statistic and I actually start to care, a mask can dehumanize people, If I see a masked man get shot and killed it won’t be as traumatic as seeing a man’s facial expressions as he is shot and killed Giving a face to the person makes them no longer a statistic in your mind and makes you view them more as a human and less as a foreign entity
