"Time to wake up, we got a city to burn."
This sounds so wrong
Thanks for the chapter. There is just something amusing about reading a chapter that involves a dark ritual of sacrificing an underage kid to the devil and then reading the creator's thoughts that casually write about the weather and their excuse for gaining weight.
I don't hate her but it's not like I fully forgot what she did. From what I understand in most abusive relationships, it's theoretically really easy to get yourself out of the situation, however things are not that easy in life, I remember all those times where I could have done what was right or necessary but doing the opposite myself. I'm no expert in human psychology or matters regarding abuse but basically, people in such situations get beaten spiritually too, to the point where they feel completely powerless, fear can really cripple people. It doesn't help that they don't get any support. Eileen didn't really have anyone close to her, she had to hold back from using magic which was stressful no doubt and somewhere deep inside she still loved her husband regardless of what she went through, yet all it took for her to seek help was a tiny push from her daughter, people are pretty damn unstable all things considered, especially if you are being abused and well, it sounds illogical I know but the human race is pretty damn good at that. However I'm not making excuses for her, in the end this mess is pretty much her fault, getting married to a man who doesn't know about magic even though he should know that his children might start floating, keeping the status quo etc. She's a coward, no doubt but well she knows that she was in the wrong and feels terrible about it and she's actually trying to make amends even if it's fruitless, she never once made up excuses about her being the victim or doing "everything she could" like other people. We all make mistakes but in my eyes at least, a person who understands the consequences of their actions and genuinely reflects on them is far better than someone who acts like nothing is their fault or even feel that they are in the right even though they clearly aren't. That's why I don't hate her. Because she's so human and well written, she's not good or evil. Just a human being who screwed up.
Can't he physically train to increase his stats and THEN add the points? Would it be too slow or is it just not doable?
Thanks for the chapter. Jesus, ptsd should be mentioned more often in the wizarding world or, at the very least during Harry Potter, the kid suffered abuse from a young age, finds out his parents were killed, goes through several of the deadliest years in Hogwarts history, literally dies and returns and then he acts... normal. If any kid went through even one of those events, they would probably have severe psychological issues including ptsd for the rest of their lives. Harry's emotional state always seemed kinda tame compared to what it should have been, all things considered, at least in the movies, never read the books. Meanwhile even without the Harry potter plot, there's soul sucking demons, dark wizards and plenty of spells that can break the body and mind, unmentioned but most likely disturbingly high amounts of sexual or not assaults and yet no one really does much about it. I don't think they are even aware of the above mentioned issues. This is madness!
"I should have brought the AK today..."
I kinda like the development, though I'm currently not in the mood to read about a villain, I can still appreciate how the character is fleshed out. (Pun intended) He doesn't need to be attractive by an average human's standards like most authors treat their ocs and he actually has a very good reason for turning into a villain, it's almost unavoidable, I would say. That said, instead of a villain, wouldn't it be more accurate to call him a tragic hero? Fallen into an abyss of insanity where instead of monsters or people his worst enemy is...his debauched mind. Plus instead of becoming a villain by hunting down humans/faunus, it is clued (Or maybe it's just my imagination) that his priority is going to be the extermination of grimms.
