In Chapter 7, the story reaches an extremely dark and shocking turning point. After the accusations made against Huguel, the narrative unfolds in an unexpected and disturbing way.

In this chapter, people do not blame Huguel for his brutal actions, but rather blame Felicia for supposedly protecting her father, Mr. João, and for abusing her. The soldiers who were with Felicia and Berth aim their weapons at the two, while Mr. João is attacked by the people around him, and his daughter watches helplessly.

However, Huguel enters the scene with a blank facial expression and everyone stops to look at him. He takes his gun and approaches Mr. João, who is lying on the ground, bruised and injured. Huguel looks at him expressionlessly, but calmly. Then, Huguel looks at Felicia, who has a scared face. He puts away his gun and reaches out to her, asking for forgiveness.

When Felicia sees this gesture, she thinks for a moment and decides to accept Huguel's apology. She runs towards him to hug her idol who has apparently redeemed himself. However, suddenly and shockingly, Huguel grabs his gun and shoots Felicia in the head, killing her instantly. Her body falls to the floor, lifeless.

Huguel then looks at Berth, who is screaming in agony at seeing her dead daughter. He aims at her and shoots her in the leg, causing her to fall to the ground, screaming in physical and emotional pain, holding her injured and bleeding leg. Mr. João, unable to move, begins to cry over this entire tragedy, feeling guilty for everything that happened.

Huguel looks at Sr. João and says that this all started because of him, and that he will let Sr. João live with the burden of what he did and that it cost his daughter her life, who also didn't deserve to live alongside him.

This chapter reveals the darkness and cruelty of the characters and deepens the complexity of the plot. The consequences of these terrible actions will be explored in future chapters, as the characters deal with loss, guilt and the desire for revenge. End of chapter.
