Mute remained motionless staring out of the window before he took a deep breath, and regained his composure before walking towards Mimiko and Nanako, who were playing air hockey. Nanako and Mimiko glared at the table as they hit the putt across the table. The sound of the putt slamming into the walls of the table entered Mute's ears as his mind was distracted by thoughts.
Mute was thinking about his sister's sudden appearance. Usually Mute wouldn't ponder about feeling his sister's killing intent but this intent was different from the usual. Instead of feeling like death, it felt more like annoyance. Mute pondered this as sweat rolled down his face.
Mute took a deep breath before leaning over and crossing his arms before putting them on the edge of the air hockey table, Mute tracked the putt bouncing off the sides of the wall before it narrowly missed Nanako's paddle going into the hole, Nanako gritted her teeth angrily the score was now 5-6, to Mimiko.
" That's the last one you're getting, Mimiko. "
Said Nanako taking out the putt and putting it back on the table. Mimiko just grinned at her comment as Nanako hit the putt towards Mimiko. Mimiko sent the putt hurling back towards Nanako until Nanako guarded the hole blocking the putt.
Mute watched them playing intently until Mimiko accidentally tapped the putt using the back of her paddle. The putt went into the hole making it tied at 6-6.
" HAHA, are you that nervous Mimiko that I'm going to beat you that you scored on your own goal? Remember what Master Geto told us? Think with a clear head. "
Said Nanako mocking Mimiko, Mimiko scoffed before talking back.
" I just wanted to make you feel some type of hope before you lose. "
As Mimiko and Nanako got ready to finish their game of air hockey, Mute stared at the middle of the table, thinking to himself.
In terms of power, Mute is an unofficial special-grade sorcerer. His sister, Null is a first-grade sister making him far stronger than his sister. However, through a mix of PTSD and paranoia, Mute doesn't want to engage in a battle with his sister. Luckily for Mute not engaging in a battle with his sister would be the smartest thing to do.
Throughout 15 years of Mute's life, he has been tortured by his sister constantly. This is important due to her cursed technique being able to repeat any action she has committed. Null has thousands of ways to kill her little brother by simply repeating the torture she has put him through.
The only way Mute has a chance of killing his sister is through a sneak attack that catches her completely off guard. Mute only has one chance whereas his sister has thousands.
Mute's train of thought is snapped after a loud yell enters his ears. Mute glances to his right and sees a yelling Mimiko, celebrating her win over Nanako. Mute scoffs before pushing off the table and standing straight up...
After another hour of playing in the arcade, Nanako and Mimiko finally left. It's now around 2 AM in Tokyo. The streets have become less dense only having drunks wobbling around. Nanako and Mimiko begin to walk as Mute lazily follows them.
They walked for a few more minutes until the snake spirit wrapped around Mute's arm suddenly unbites his tail and looked around with his head raised high in the air. Mute notices the snake looking right and looks right himself before noticing a rat in a dirty alleyway next to a trashcan. Mute observes the rat further before noticing that it is a cursed spirit.
Mute scoffs while shaking his head until the rat suddenly disappears catching him off guard. Mute stares at the dirty floor where the rat used to be until the sound of thousands of small running feet can be heard. Mimiko and Nanako look towards the dirty alleyway stopping before thousands of small red beady eyes glow through the dark alley.
Mute stares at thousands of cursed spirit rats until deep squeaks can be heard. Mute watches as a 4-foot rat spirit appears in the horde of rats. The spirit has a circular body with a rat's snout and ears.
Nanako and Mimiko looked at the spirit before Nanako spoke in disgust.
" Ew, a rat spirit, really? "...
