Chapter 122: Gambler(S2 Start. )

" Hey! I understand that he's annoying. But I can't let you kill him. After all, he's the one that called for me to be here. "

Mute's eyes darted around, trying to find the source of the voice until his eyes suddenly widened as he stared at a man standing directly next to the panting Yuta, with the amount of curse energy leaking off the man's body. It was easy to tell, that he was a high-level first-grade sorcerer.

Yuta glanced over at the man, before gently smiling and speaking.

" Sorry, for calling you so abruptly, Hakari. "

" Yeah, Yeah, just treat me to some alcohol after this. But he's Mute correct? The one that battled Gojo? "

" Yeah. He just got done fighting me and Yuki. And well you can see how that turned out. "

Said Yuta with a somber look, staring at Yuki's corpse. Hakari glanced over at the corpse before exhaling loudly and slowly approaching Mute with his fists clenched. He locked eyes with Mute before Mute spoke in a cocky tone.

" If two special grades couldn't defeat me? What makes you, think you can? "

" Tsk, you don't seem to know. But I'm a pretty lucky person. "

" I would have to disagree, you did run into me after all. "

Responded Mute with a sly grin on their face, he slowly walked towards the approaching Hakari, with his pupils shrinking. He focused intently on Hakari's chest and was to appear next to him until suddenly his pupils dilated and he leaned back narrowly dodging a punch, that warped the air itself. Mute quickly bent his knees and dashed back gaining distance away from a strange man.

Mute came to a sliding stop, staring at a burly black-haired man, with a single scar lining his mouth. Mute glanced over at Hakari noticing the confused look on his face, and quickly deciphered that the man in front of him was a stranger to them both. Toji glanced over at Mute with pure black eyes, locking onto Mute's body before with insane speed, Toji flickered. Appearing directly in front of Mute throwing a powerful punch.

The punch soared through the air, before abruptly stopping. Being stopped by Mute's cursed technique, Toji stared at his frozen fist perplexed until a heel slammed into his chin making him stumble to the side. Recovering quickly he crossed his arms and blocked a swift kick, that sent his feet scraping across the ground.

" Tch, you're a sturdy bastard aren't you? "

Said Mute examining Toji's body, Mute couldn't feel a single ounce of curse energy inside of Toji's body, and yet his body was so sturdy. Mute instantly thought of Maki, and quickly asked a question.

" Heavenly restriction? "

Mute was waiting for an answer, however. Toji didn't respond, instead, he glared at Mute and was about to lunge at him, but before he could, Hakari beat him to the punch, dashing at Mute appearing directly next to him in three steps. Hakari twirled throwing a kick at Mute's jugular until the distance between Mute's knee and Hakari's nose shrunk and it violently slammed into his nose. Rocking his head back, Hakari just grinned at the knee before he dashed gaining distance away from Mute.

Hakari slid to a stop, as Toji threw a flurry of punches at Mute, Mute swayed his body easily dodging the punches before he froze Toji's hands in place slamming an elbow into Toji's chin, However, the elbow didn't budge Toji at all who stared at Mute with mad eyes before wildly swinging an overhand at Mute.

The punch grazed Mute's black hair, narrowly missing until a swift liver punch slammed into Toji's torso, making him grit his teeth before he reached his arms out trying to grab onto Mute's left arm. His fingers reached curled before suddenly a rigid sword shot out stabbing through his palm.

Most people would panic, if something stabbed through their palm but Toji didn't panic, instead a grin appeared on his face. The thing that pierced through his palm, brought him an overwhelming sense of familiarity. His black eyes stared at the sword in his palm before his black eyes slowly returned to white. Mute stared at Toji's normal pupils confused, unbeknownst to him. He had just returned Toji's mind to him, weakening the granny's cursed technique.

Toji looked up at Mute before he asked Mute a question.

" Who the hell are you? Are you a Zenin? You look like one. "

" Just by blood. But what the hell is going on with you? You are the first person, I saw with pure black eyes before. "

" My eyes were black? I guess that's a side-effect of that old hag's medium technique. "

" Ah, you were brought back to life? I'm guessing you lost your mind during that process. But since you have regained your mind, what will you do? Run away or fight? "

" Fight, you seem like the strongest one here. And I don't want to go to hell alone. Besides, I doubt this technique is going to last much longer. "

Said Toji before his body vanished, causing a gust of wind to blow Mute's black hair wildly. In an instant, he materialized behind Mute and threw a punch. The punch flew through the air before the sword pierced through his palm vanished and reappeared in Mute's palm. With lightning-fast speed, Mute deflected Toji's punch using the blade before suddenly, a mighty unexpected kick slammed into Mute's side launching him through the air until he flipped gracefully landing.

Mute looked forward glaring at Hakari, before he scoffed and spoke.

" Can I ever get a fair fight? "

Hakari just grinned at Mute's comment before he glanced over at Toji who was staring at him annoyed. Toji knew that the effect of the cursed tool would eventually run out, and he would lose his mind once again, so in those few minutes, he had self-control. He planned on giving it his all to defeat the strongest there. However, if Hakari was involved it would make it far more difficult to kill Mute.

Not because Hakari is a hindrance. But instead, Mute would be far more cautious if battling two strong sorcerers. After all Mute only truly tries, if he believes that his life is in danger. Hakari and Toji locked eyes before Toji spoke.

" Hey, brat! Get the hell away, he's mine to fight. "

" Alright suit yourself old man, I'm only here because of that bastard behind me. "

Said Hakari pointing behind his shoulder, at Yuta. Yuta just innocently smiled at Toji. Hakari wasn't fleeing the fight because he was scared or timid. Instead, he prioritized Yuta's life over the battle, knowing that he could always finish off the winner. Hakari quickly backpedaled heading towards the gassed Yuta.

As Hakari went to help Yuta flee Shibuya, Toji and Mute started to walk around each other like two wolves getting ready to battle for food. Without saying any further words, their bodies vanished appearing directly next to each other. Their fists clashed making a small shockwave ripple out, blowing small debris off the ground...

Inside the subway, the sound of horrific screaming could be heard through a shattered bathroom, with water spewing out of the door, flooding the tile floor. The sound of unsteady footsteps could be heard as Choso walked out of the bathroom clutching his head, with veins popping out of his forehead.

To Choso, it felt like his mind was splitting in half. As fake memories poured into his brain, he gritted his teeth while he murmured to himself.

" Why are you there? W-Why are you... "

Choso dropped to one knee and started to pant rapidly, his eyes slowly turned bloodshot before the sound of massive booms, shook the subway. The booms didn't stem from inside the subway instead, they came from the surface. Choso glanced up still in agony, before he wobbly stood up and started to walk leaning on the subway walls.

Back on the surface, Mute could be seen flying through the air, before he flipped slamming his feet on the already cracked asphalt road. Mute grinned watching Toji storm towards him jumping from car roof to car roof until he leapt into the air throwing a kick, which Mute easily sidestepped. The kick slammed into the road, making asphalt fly wildly into the air, Mute stared through the asphalt locking eyes with Toji before a sudden, massive amount of cursed energy engulfed the surface shocking Toji and Mute.

Mute glanced above Toji's head staring at a sky bridge that connected two buildings. The amount of cursed energy pouring out of the bridge, gave the feeling that someone was using a domain expansion. Mute stared at the bridge before he smirked and spoke.

" So that's your plan. "...
