Chapter 10- Survival is the art, feathers are unskilled.

Everyone was bewildered as the pale white face was like a red tomato. She had never even dreamt of getting slapped. No tear could let out the pain she was going through at that moment. She lifted her neck upward to see her grandfather. She had expected his facial expression to be guilty and look helpless. Instead, she wanted to know if he regretted raising his hand to her in a fit of anger.

She was sure to be reprimanded by him after denying to marry the ruthless Lin Xie. She was mentally preparing herself for receiving the punishment. She thought he might ask her to transcribe the books until she was married or immediately find he was a suitor who was not very well-off. At least not enough to pamper her as she has always been. But getting a slap never crossed her mind.

It was nothing peculiar, but it was a rule in her family that no one could hit anybody. It was a rule made by her Grandmother, who was known for her affectionate and generous personality. He broke it. Did he think twice? He broke the law made by his beloved late wife. On top of that, he had no sense of realization.

Dongmei ran her eyes to find her mother, who was standing like a statue, and so was her father. The servants were in a similar state. She could not even cry out how painful the slap was or how her heart was overwhelmed by the betrayal she felt.

"Get out!" Wenqi poked her with her cane, but Dongmei did not move. Instead, he urged her again and prompted Bai Wenqi to drive her to a deep sea where she wasn't drowning but encircled by flesh-eating monsters.

After a while, she was pulled back into reality and felt t; shaking again; she caught the end of the cane and asked as tears fell like a river from the glacier, "Grandfather, Even if I am willing, Lin Xie won't marry me now. Didn't you see how he ignored everything and left?"

"The old man of Lin Family himself said that we should cancel the wedding."

"It can't be helped."

"You cannot send your pampered granddaughter away."

Wenqi turned a deaf ear to her pleads, tried to pull his cane, and shouted, "How Unruly!" One more pull, and Dongmei could not hold it any longer. She looked at her father and craw; towards him; she pulled the corner of his top and appealed to him, "Father, Grandfather is just momentarily angry with me. Please advise him not to throw me out."

"He is not serious, right?" She whispered with a smile overtaken by convincing her father when he suddenly fainted and fell on Dongmei's shoulder. Dongmei's felt as if the floor beneath her feet was pulled away, and she was falling into a bottomless pit.

"Father!"

"Father!"

Dongmei shook her head and screamed, and Her mother approached him with the same horror that had encircled Wenqi. The Servants helped Bai Qi to lie down on the couch.

"Bring a glass of water." Wenqi roared and checked his son's condition.

Shouyi also started shedding tears, and Bai An ran towards his father like a baby deer. Not knowing what was happening, he started whining on his mother's shoulder as she embraced him under her wings.

The Butler brought the glass of water as his face was sweating in winter. He kept wiping his face out of anxiety. The Bai family was falling into a river of tears. "Stop Mourning! All of You! My son is not dead." He yelled at everyone as he took the glass in his hands.

He soaked his hand in the glass and splashed it on Bai Qi's face. Once-Twice- But he refused to wake up. The Butler realized the situation and immediately called for an ambulance.

"Son! Son!" Wenqi, acting like a mountain, melted as he felt helpless. His only son, who led a healthy lifestyle all his life, fainted out of the blue with no sign of pain. He saw the Butler calling and kept checking his son's pulse and breath.

The ambulance arrived, and they took Bai Qi away, and Shouyi accompanied him in the ambulance. Wenqi folded his hands and prayed to God, "Please! don't let anything happen to him."

Dongmei also prayed the same in her heart as she continued moaning. Bai An hugged his sister and asked, squeaking, "What happened to father?" Dongmei shook her head as words refused to come to her mouth.

Wenqi turned and floundered towards the siblings; he pulled Bai An away, held his little hand, and said, "Stay away from this taboo."

"She is a curse!"

"She made your father fall ill." He pointed his finger at her in rage. Bai An became silent as he looked at his sister in puzzled. "Servants! Take her out! Throw her far away."

"I don't want to see her." He commanded and left, dragging Bai An away. They drew to the hospital immediately. Selena looked at her Miss with a pitiful gaze and approached her.

"Miss, you should go and plead with your mother now."

"You have the right to go and see your father." She said, trying to comfort her.

Dongmei ignored her as she saw two women with familiar faces marching toward her. Both pulled her hands and tried to make her stand on her feet. She jerked them both and said, "He didn't mean it. He was angry. He wasn't serious."

One of them said, "You in your heart know better than us if he did."

"Don't ask me to plead for you when my grandfather holds you responsible if something happens to me." She screamed as they dragged her to the basement. Selena followed them and kept praying to let Dongmei go. But the two sturdy women did not care and diligently followed the command.

"Where will you send her?" She asked.

"Old master had already told us, and we admit her to the Bai Welfare House." One of them answered as they opened the door of a seven-seater black Toyota car. They threw her inside and made a call to the driver.

Ten seconds later, She hung up and said, "He will be here in a minute." Dongmei looked at the collection of cars she had always admired and tried to pursue her grandfather to take her somewhere in the cars. But she never thought she would travel in a car in this kind of situation.

Selena argued, "That place is for people who cannot afford a living."

"Miss Bai cannot even breath once in that place."

"You know that well!"

Selena was bombarding them, but they didn't care at all. The driver hurried and started the engine, which Selena overlooked until he drove her away out of the basement.

It was her first time riding a car. She was too stunned to react. She was trying to hold herself in the car as if it wasn't a big deal. However, Her body could not take the sudden changes; She started feeling dizzy and fainted.

Once the car exited the Mansion, the driver turned back to look at Dongmei. He was startled as he discovered her lying down like a corpse. He immediately drove her to the same hospital where her father was taken.

"She is alright now." The doctor said after he was done checking her. "You can take her back once she wakes up," he added.

The driver was relieved as he thought she might have tried to do something stupid. He would have been held accountable if the only Miss of the Bai Family born in two hundred met any mischance.

"Old He, why are you here?"

"Did you come here for the master?" The Butler asked the driver. He was ambushed and could not react. He was taking medicine for his diabetes while Dongmei was resting in the hospital when he met the Butler.

"What's wrong?" The Butler asked him as he handed the prescription to the pharmacist. Just then, the receptionist handed an envelope of medicine. The driver was at a loss and did not notice her. The Butler instead took the envelope for him and took the pill out. "Oh! So you are buying your medicine. You should have asked me."

"The master is here; I could have got it for you when I come back to Mansion to take the stuff," he said, handing him the medicine.

The driver nodded and said, "Why trouble you? I was passing by!"

"You said Master is here?"

"For what?" He asked curiously and was clueless about the situation.

The Butler did not expect him to be unaware, But things happened so hurriedly that there was a chance of him not knowing the situation.

The Butler took medicine and walked out with the driver as he patted his back and showed his disappointed expression.

"Old He, I guess you were out running an errand while the wedding ceremony was going on," he said in a low tone. The driver nodded several times as he pretended to remember that the wedding was that day. He was not in the Mansion for almost a week. Nancy had helped him cover his absence, so he had no idea what was happening. He knew that he was called when he entered the Mansion and was asked to take Dongmei away to the Bai Welfare House.

"Our poor Miss is kicked out of the house for creating trouble on her wedding day."

"If you see, The problem wasn't our Miss but Lin Xie, That arrogant mafia man." The Butler was furious.

"Somehow, Our Master Qi fainted while Miss led him to let her stay in the house; guess what? Our old man blamed her for being a curse and ousted her."

"I am apprehensive about Miss."

"I have just called those two bootlickers of the old man not to do anything to Miss Dongmei. Just let her stay in her room until the matter subsidies down." He said as he bid him farewell and took up to the VVIP ward.

The driver turned yellow; he froze at the lift entrance; until the burning phone started buzzing. He saw they had called him; he picked up the call with trembling hands and heard one of them saying, "Old He, You haven't reached the House? Take her back!"

"The Butler will kill us if he knew he sent her away." He was unable to say a word.

"Old He reply!!!" The Other woman shouted, making his ears bleed.

"I can hear you." He yelled back to her.

His entire face was wrinkled as he cried out of fear, " Where have you pushed me?"

"I am in such big trouble because of you two." He was still complaining to them when the call hung up. He was already frustrated while being away without the permission of the Masters of the house.

"This...This... I was the stupid person."

"I shouldn't have acted without knowing the situation." He slapped himself and hurried to find Dongmei.

The moment he reached her ward, he was astonished. The bed was cleanly made and empty.

"I am dead." He spoke as the medicine fell from his hand, and his face was soaked in horror.

The intention is something that should be judged, not the person.

We have across many characters who are evil at times and end up doing a good deed that turns them into a hero and vice versa.

Experiencing some instances in my life, I have learned only one thing circumstances change the intention, which leads to several causes.

Have some idea about my story? Comment it and let me know.
