Chapter Seven

"I still can't believe Batman chose you as the leader."

I hummed as I sat in the sentient Martian ship with the rest of the team, listening to Robin absently.

"It makes sense, he has much more experience going solo than any of us."

Kaldur pointed out, his arms crossed as he looked forward.

I was paying attention to them all, taking notes of their mental states as they all went into the undercover mission, I could do this myself in all honesty, but this wasn't about me, this was about them.

In all honesty, most of them were not suited for stealth missions, Robin was the best option, Raven could stay hidden with what little magic she knew, Wally would mess up, and Kaldur still was acting like a follower...

So as a result, I was the acting leader.

"Alright, let's go over the plan. This is just a recon mission, in and out, we don't have to fight."

I stood up, the straps of the chair sinking back in the chair allowing me to do so.

The others turned in their chairs, looking at me, but the first to speak was Wally.

"Come on man, why are we skipping out on some action? I wanna show off my moves."

She glanced at Meggan and I felt the need to smack him over the head. Sighing I just shook my head.

"You are here for information, I am here to make sure you guys don't die."

I shrugged pointing at Robin.

"Robin, you will take Miss Martian and Superboy, infiltrate the base, get the info we need-"

I point at Kaldur.

"Aqualad, you will be taking Raven and Kid Flash to scout the perimeter, stealthily and relay the needed information to the infiltration team."

I point at the other three to indicate that they were said team.

"Are you sure taking Superboy for infiltration is a good choice?"

I looked at Robin, raising an eyebrow at him.

"There may be things you won't be able to handle inside, someone, or maybe too many people if you get into a fight, are you telling me you don't want someone nearly indestructible by your side?"

He was about to say something but shut his mouth and nodded.

"And what will you be doing?"

I smiled at Walley and this time, I did bonk him on the head.

"I'm your heavy hitter, call me in and I will come to aid you."

They could have me aid them, but they couldn't depend on me, I wasn't a hero, I wasn't doing this out of the kindness of my heart. I was here for brother blood and this time, there would be no witnesses, Raven wouldn't be there to see what I would do.

I needed him gone.

___

Well... Everything went fine and dandy... And by that I mean, everything went exactly how I expected it to.

I hummed, a magic circle spreading on top of my palm as I absently raised it to my side, bullets sinking into the pocket dimension.

The bullets, as endless as they seemed, ran out. The magic circle shifted as lightning crackled, dancing around the field in a controlled pattern, avoiding anyone that was important, and electrocuting anyone who wasn't.

It was too bad that deaths could occur when the voltage was as low as 40, but I could work around that constraint rather easily.

I hummed looking at the team for a moment.

"It's been 5 minutes... did you all suffer short-term memory loss?"

I hummed, looking at them for a moment, Wally tried to speak, but I looked at him, and he shut up.

"No, no, that's not possible, it's just that some of you have the memory of a goldfish, but that can't be right, because we evolved from monkeys..."

I walked closer, spinning my cane in my hand and watching Walley on the head. He yelped, clutching his head in pain and glaring at me.

Ignoring the little shit, I looked over to Robin and raised my cane up. He stared at me for a moment, his eyes narrowing but finally, he sighed and walked closer.

I whacked him too.

He grunted, raising his hand to rub at the bruise that would form but said nothing, he knew he fucked up.

"If I didn't cast a large area silencing spell, this would have been the quickest failure in history, which as amusing as it is, is not permissible..."

I hummed.

"Now then... it is said that no plan survives first contact with the enemy, but that does not count when the said enemy is dealing with another party and doesn't know we are coming, get your act together and communicate, you have mouths, use them."

I turned and pointed at Robin and Kid Flash.

"And you two, stop acting like little shits, you are not with your mentors, and nobody here will accommodate you if you don't tell them what you're doing."

I clapped once, dispersing the silencing spell.

"Now, investigate."
