Chapter 25: Is he jealous? Maybe not

Wu Jinmai's POV

I raise my head and look at the person who suddenly speaks behind me. I sighed and tapped my chest. I placed my hand on the chair and got up. I look at him.

"Will you refrain yourself from popping everywhere and suddenly sneaking behind me, then talking? Are you trying to kill me through a heart attack, A'Zu?" I ask.

He steps forward and raises his hands. He grabbed the hairpins and other ornaments in my head.

After that, he takes off the phoenix crown in my head. I grab the comb and start brushing my hair. I also massage my scalp. I look at his head.

"Are you sure you want to sleep wearing that? Don't you feel any pain? Is it wrong if you take that off and comb your hair? Release the tension in your scalp," I recommended.

He checks his headpiece. "I'm used to wearing this even in bed," he says. I sighed and shook my head. Too bad…

I take a seat again and grab the cloth to wipe my make-up. I look at the bowl of water and wash my face.

"You're still there? Go to bed already. I know you are tired of escorting them from their household to here."

I faced him properly and looked at him in the eyes. I want to properly thank him for his efforts. I bow my head.

"Thank you, Shanguan Zu Jin. I know it's hard for you, but you choose to make a detour and see if I can make up for the messes that Wu Jinmai created. I really appreciate your efforts," I murmur, smiling sincerely.

I turned around and was ready to prepare my bed, but he followed me and wrapped his hand around my waist. He nestled his body behind me. I freeze.

I wasn't expecting him to be clingy or act like this again, especially since he met his true love. I thought his flirtatious actions were a mere act in order to fool me.

"Zu Jin? What are you doing?" I ask.

I was trying to shove his hand away from my waist, but he was holding me too tight. What is wrong with him?!

"You really know how to fool a man, don't you?"

I frowned. I want to look at his face, but he covers my eyes with his other hand.

"I don't know what you are talking about. I have no plans of fooling anyone again."

"Really? After what you did to Pei Qin? You really think I will believe what you offered to the three of us? You're clearly fooling around, Li Susu!" he roars.

My neck stiffens as I gulp. I was frightened when I saw how serious and mad he was. Based on Wu Jinmai's memories.

"I am not! Why are you getting mad? What did I do? C-can you tell me p-properly?" I ask, stuttering on my last statement. He takes a step forward, glaring at me as if he will eat me.

"Don't make me lose my patience every now and then, Li Susu. You wouldn't survive if you made me this mad, hmm? Don't you test me," he utters, grabbing my face and forcing me to look into his eyes.

Something is wrong with him! There's a side of Shanguan Zu Jin that Wu Jinmai has never seen before. What am I gonna do?!

"J-just tell me. I-I will be careful the next time. Don't scare me like this, Shanguan Zu Jin," I stated.

I am trying to calm myself and ask him. I have an idea, but I don't want to make a big deal out of it.

"Remember who is your primary husband, Li Susu? You must remember that it was me. Getting intimate with other men means death for you. Did you hear me?" he asserts in such a scary and threatening tone.

"I am not! I'm just comforting A'Qin!"

We saw arrows flying everywhere. I looked around and saw the table. I drag him with me and use the table as a shield.

We run over and move on to the secret chamber of this quarter. Our eyes dilated when we saw the arrow that almost pierced his eyes.

"Go ahead! I'll take care of them!" he roars. It's already late. The assassins barged in.

We lean on each other's backs, facing the men in black. This is a classic in historical drama, but it really happens.

"Kill her!" their boss remarked.

We both pushed each other's backs and attacked. I used my hand to control my body as I leaned backward.

I raise my feet, kick this enemy's hand, and catch his weapon. I stood straight and cut his carotid artery.

I turned around, raised my sword, and stabbed the man who was supposed to kill me. I grab his sword and throw it at the man who was about to hurt my husband.

He looks at me. "On your side!" he roars. I jump high, sway my sword, and behead him.

"Dieeee!" he says while running in my direction.
