Worlds Unbound: A Gamer’s Quest

The power of the Gamer System was something I had only ever dreamed about. Now, it's a reality that's brought me into the very Universes I've longed to explore all my life. The question is, how far can I climb? And just now many lives will it take for me to experience them all?

Chapter 13

But I need to push that to the side and focus on what's really important right now...like getting back into the Dungeon and grinding out some levels. I doubt the story is just going to sit back and wait for me to try and get into Aika's panties. And if the difference in levels between myself and Rias are anything to go by, I'm going to be in a lot of trouble if I keep putting it off.

Motioning my Servant to follow, I leave my backpack inside the house and get a quick drink from the kitchen, before moving into the small living room and taking us back into the Dungeon. "[Dungeon: Open]!"

Instantly, the golden circle appeared beneath my and my Servant's feet, teleporting us back to the same room I had first entered last night. Quickly selecting Skeletons again, I use [Blade Blacksmith] to create a Holy Sword for myself while my Servant adjusts his grip on the iron sword in his hand.

I don't think he's even let go of it once since I gave it to him.

Shrugging that thought off, I march us down the dirt part between dead trees, coming to a halt as soon as I reach the first enemy…or should I say, enemies. '[Observe].'

Skeleton - Level 2 | Skeleton - Level 2 | Skeleton - Level 2

Great, three skeletons this time and there's only two of us. And my Servant is still only Level 1.

I really don't like the looks of these odds.

I told you the last one was a tutorial…

These baddies mean business now.

She did warn me. And look where we are. Time to face the music, I guess.

Commanding my Servant to take the one on the left, I go for the one on the right. There's not much I can do about the one in the middle, since I've never fought two opponents at once before, but the best idea I've got is to try and keep them close together so that they're within my line of sight.

Remembering not to rush in like a fool, I take it slow as I approach the two skeletons, both on whom come to life at the same time as they raise their rusted swords to attack. Bringing up my Holy Sword, I move just out of the way of the left one's strike while I block the other.

As its rusted sword comes down onto the slightly golden glow of my Holy Sword's blade, I watch as the rusted blade makes brief contact before promptly shattering.

Blinking, I smile widely at that as I use the opening to stab the now weaponless Skeleton in the chest. The Light properties of my Holy Sword work marvelously as it not only pierces the bone ribcage, it actually burns through the bone like a hot knife through butter. The blade causing the Skeleton's body to destabilize, breaking apart into individual pieces as it falls to the ground.

[Skeleton] defeated.

As I turn to the other one, I see that it's already in mid swing while I had been so focused on the other Skeleton's death. Its blade is already too close for me to defend myself, so I quickly squeeze my eyes shut and prepare for the pain of getting cut.

…instead, I hear the sound of a blade cutting through flesh but no pain.

Glancing through a cracked open eye, my eyes fly open as I stare at the sight of my Servant standing with his back to me, the Skeleton's rusted sword piercing straight through his flesh. Before I can even say anything, he dissolves into motes of golden energy, the iron sword in his hand clattering to the ground.

Realizing the opportunity he just gave me, I quickly bring my holy sword up and strike the Skeleton in the chest, the blade cutting straight through its body as it collapses to the ground in a second pile of bones.

[Skeleton] defeated.

Staring at the spot where my Servant died, I look to the left where the other Skeleton should have been. Instead, I see a third pile of bones resting on the ground. It looks like he had defeated his opponent before coming to my aid.

At least his sacrifice wasn't for nothing, as it gave me a single level for my Summoner class.

Leveled Up - Class:

[Class: Summoner] - Lvl. 2 (Novice)

Which means that I can now summon 2 Servants, and 10 Spirits. I can finally start sending out Spirits to spy on Kuoh and keep an eye out for when the Fallen make their move. If I can time it right, I might even be able to work it to my advantage.

Also, I'm glad to see that more than one skill got leveled up.

Leveled Up - Skills:

[Summon: Servant] (Active) - Lvl. 2 (Novice)

[Sacred Gear: Blade Blacksmith] (Common) - Lvl. 2 (Novice)

[Swordsmanship] (Passive) - Lvl. 8 (Novice)

My Servants are now Level 2, which is going to be useful for taking on the Skeletons if they're set to match whatever my current level is. And with Blade Blacksmith leveled up, I can now summon an additional Holy Sword for one of my Servants. It still leaves one of them without a Holy Sword and having to keep using the iron blade, but I'll make it work somehow.

Taking a quick look at my stats, I'm pleased that even with my Servant having killed one of the Skeletons, I still got the experience for it.

Sora Sakai - Level 2 [12%]

Human - Sacred Gear User

Instead of getting 5% experience for a Skeleton, I'm now getting 4%. But now that there's three of them instead of just one, I'll take the change in lower experience since it works out in my favor.
